Role Purpose

The Programme Manager is responsible for the end-to-end design, implementation, and successful delivery of all SUNSHINE community programmes. This role ensures that all activities consistently meet quality standards, achieve their defined outcomes, and effectively deliver "joy and warmth" to tackle loneliness in London.

Key Responsibilities

1. Programme Design and Development:

• Lead the creation and scheduling of core programmes, including the Monthly Coffee Mornings, the 6-week Digital Inclusion and Skills Programme, and the 12-week Wellbeing Wednesdays Programme.

• Develop comprehensive programme manuals, session plans, and supporting materials to ensure consistency across all delivery locations.

• Research and incorporate best practices in tackling loneliness, social isolation, and community building into all programme designs.

2. Management and Oversight:

• Oversee day-to-day operations of all active programmes, managing timelines, resources, and stakeholder communications.

• Work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure adequate, trained volunteer support is available for each session.

• Manage programme budgets and resources efficiently, reporting expenditure accurately to the Charity Director.

3. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Quality Control:

• Design and implement appropriate monitoring tools, ensuring data collection is consistent, particularly for the 3-Item Loneliness Survey.

• Regularly evaluate programme success against agreed-upon KPIs (e.g., attendance, repeat participation, impact scores) and provide reports to the Board.

• Continuously gather participant and volunteer feedback to drive iterative improvements and maintain the quality of the 'sunshine' experience.

4. Partnership and Resource Management:

• Identify and build relationships with local London community partners and venues to secure suitable and accessible locations for programme delivery.

• Source and manage external facilitators or trainers required for specialist components (e.g., digital skills sessions).

Person Specification

Essential Experience and Skills:

• Programme Management: Proven experience in designing, launching, and managing educational, social, or community programmes.

• Organisational Excellence: High degree of planning, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.

• Leadership: Ability to lead and motivate teams of volunteers and external facilitators with enthusiasm and clarity.

• Communication: Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills necessary to train volunteers and engage participants.

Desirable Attributes:

• Experience working within the London non-profit sector.

• Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) methodologies, particularly relating to social outcomes.

• Background in adult education, community engagement, or social prescribing.

About the project: 

People are most likely to find out they have MS in their thirties, forties and fifties; news that can be worrying and heart-breaking. Having somebody with local knowledge and can signpost to information and services can support people at the start of their MS journey.

The Helpdesk Project is a unique initiative where trained volunteers offer information on local services and peer support to people attending MS clinics at the Walton Centre in Liverpool. 

About the role: 

We are looking for Administration volunteers who can offer assistance to the Lead Support Volunteer to coordinate the running of the service by sending out information and rotas and taking meeting minutes. Please see the Role Description for examples of activities you may be involved in.

Training:

Our retail roles are varied and fun. You could be sorting donations from the public, dressing our window or serving customers on the till. There are many people from different walks of life and it's a great way to get practical experience and to meet new people.

This role will take place on a weekly basis for a few hours We will try our best to be flexible around the best time for you, but also need to consider the store opening times and volunteer rota. About Care4Calais 

Care4Calais is a volunteer-led charity delivering essential aid and support to people seeking asylum living in the UK and Northern France. We provide direct aid and advocate for a fair asylum system, including safe routes to claim asylum.

The UK Direct Aid team delivers essential support through practical services; such as running distributions, delivering English classes and casework-style support through drop-ins. The UK Direct Aid team also provides services to promote wellbeing such as trips and sports activities.

Volunteer Role Description

Purpose of the Role

This volunteer role is a key part of the HFEH Mind team delivering a range of services across Hammersmith and Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow. We support clients with mental health with both clinical and non-clinical interventions.

The purpose of the current role is to assist with the planning and delivery of our Adult Co-production services. This includes the Adult Co-production Group, The Shakti Project (wellbeing service for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic individuals) and a new Young Adult Co-Production group working with 18–25-year-olds.

Main Responsibilities

This role involves working closely with service managers and the co-production coordinator to discover new organisations and community events to reach out to establish a presence and promote our co-production services, as well as work in partnership with others to improve our services.

This would include admin tasks such as drafting emails to send to our service users and partners, establishing connections with members of the community and service providers, identifying appropriate locations to distribute posters and promote the service, assisting with the creation of digital content promoting the service both digitally and in-person, helping with the planning and delivery of enrichment trips and outings, co-facilitating online groups (where applicable).

Tasks

· Attending online meetings for the Adult Co-Production Group and/or the Shakti Project

· Promoting the service to members of the South Asian and BAME community (Shakti Project) and 18–25-year-olds (Young Adult Co-Production Group)

· Assisting with admin tasks e.g. drafting up emails to send to service users, updating our co-production newsletters, emailing charity partners and public organisations.

· Assisting with in-person events such as Health Fairs, Career/Volunteer days, cultural events

Time commitment and expenses:

· 6 hours per week (including a 1-hour lunch break), during our core hours of 10AM – 4 PM.

· We request a minimum commitment of 3 months of volunteering after the completion of your induction.   

· We request a minimum commitment of 6 months of volunteering before reference request.

· We will provide volunteers with an induction, training, and ongoing mentoring to support them in the role.

Are you passionate about supporting people to improve their language and communication skills? Are you working towards a teaching qualification and looking to gain relevant experience? 

We are looking for new ESOL volunteers to support our qualified tutors in the classroom. Volunteers play a fundamental role in our classes. All of our classes are led by paid teachers, however, they are also often supported by volunteer teaching assistants.

Whether helping to set up the classroom, supporting participants during group work or offering support and advice on local services, the contribution made by volunteers in our classrooms is vital.

Skills/ experience

• CELTA or similar qualification is desirable
• Teaching experience is desirable

In return, volunteers will have the opportunity to:

• Gain experience of English language teaching in a community setting with a friendly team
• Gain support and advice on professional development for those looking to become an ESOL teacher

Most of our classes are held face to face in West London, with some having a blended / online learning approach with Zoom.
