Reducing the Risk is an Oxfordshire-based charity. We work locally, regionally and nationally to empower professionals, volunteers and communities who support victim-survivors of domestic abuse.

What will you be doing?

The Treasurer plays a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity of Reducing the Risk. This role involves overseeing the charity's financial affairs, ensuring financial viability, and ensuring that proper financial records and procedures are maintained. The Treasurer provides strategic financial guidance to the Board of Trustees and supports the charity's mission through sound financial management.

Time commitment: 

• Estimated on average 1 day a month, with an expected increased time commitment at Year End and the Annual Return months. Initially, the time commitment will be slightly higher whilst you settle into the role and complete our induction. 
• Board meetings: 4 board meetings and 4 committee meetings a year
• Meetings may be in person or online and timings are agreed by those involved

What are we looking for?

Essential:

• A strong background in financial management, or a related field.
• Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
• Understanding of SORP requirements and charity law, or willingness to undertake necessary training.
• Experience in financial planning and budget management.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
• Commitment to the mission and values of Reducing the Risk.
• Commitment to developing a knowledge of Charity Finance regulations and practices (guidance will be provided)

Desirable:

• Previous experience as a Treasurer or in a similar role within a charity.
• Experience with financial software and systems used by charities.

Charity Trustee

Voluntary role

Role details:

• Collective responsibility for overall management, governance and strategic direction of the charity in accordance with governing document, legal and regulatory guidelines
• Voluntary trustee role, all reasonable expenses will be reimbursed
• We are particularly interested in people with experience in human resources, finance, technology and/or equity, diversity and inclusion

We are looking for new people to join our Board of Trustees, and help to govern our charity. This is an exciting opportunity to put your skills, knowledge and experience to use.

To ensure our board is reflective and representative of our local communities and workforce, we strongly encourage applications from under-represented communities. Currently we are particularly seeking to increase the involvement of people under the age of 35, people with a disability, people of colour and/or LGBT+ people on our Board.

As a Trustee at NSDAS with a focus on the Treasurer role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the financial stability and integrity of the charity. The role of the Treasurer

North Surrey Domestic Abuse Service (NSDAS) supports anyone affected by domestic abuse and their children living in the boroughs of Elmbridge, Spelthorne and Epsom and Ewell. We provide free, confidential and independent advice, skilled practical help and ongoing emotional support and information, regardless of sex, race, ability, gender, religion or income level.

The Trans Learning Partnership (TLP) is in the process of evolving into a new, independent charity: the Trans Research Partnership (TRP). This transition will be completed by the end of 2025. As part of this transition, we’re recruiting up to five founding trustees to help shape the future of TRP.

TRP will be a trans-led research charity that centres trans voices and produces rigorous, community-led research to inform policy, practice, and public understanding. Join a vibrant Yorkshire-based countryside charity helping disabled people to get 'Out There Together'.

Since 1990, Open Country has been helping people with disabilities to access and enjoy the countryside. The voluntary role of Treasurer is a crucial role in helping us manage our finances responsibly and sustainably. You will serve as a Trustee of the Charity and a Director of the Limited Company, helping us to make informed decisions to allow us to perform our inspirational work.

We have a part-time Finance Officer and use a local firm of book-keepers to prepare our monthly management accounts using Paxton software. Payroll issues are dealt with using the services of another third party. Thus, your input will be primarily at a governance level rather than one of financial administration.

We seek someone with the following attributes:

- Ability to analyse financial data and assess their financial impact on our charity.

East London Waterworks Park is looking for illustrators, animators and graphic designers to help campaign in the creation of our new park with natural swimming ponds.

East London Waterworks Park is a volunteer-led charity that has won a 2024 New London Architecture award and raised £2m towards buying land from the Department for Education to transform the 14-acre Thames Water Depot on Lea Bridge Road on the border of Waltham Forest and Hackney, into a new biodiverse park with natural swimming ponds, forest schools and community spaces. 

We are looking for illustrators, animators and graphic designers to contribute to our community-led working circle who are working on coordinating our digital marketing. 

There is opportunity to lead on projects across content creation, social media, film or any other channels of interest, and facilitate the direction of the working circle.

The Comms Circle currently meets fortnightly on a Tuesday evening on Google Meet and spends voluntary time outside of the meeting completing agreed tasks remotely.

While technical skills are essential, we also value your ability to think creatively and strategically. You should have experience in creating engaging visual content for various platforms that will engage stakeholders and decision makers, such as public reports, presentations for decision makers, social media and websites. A strong understanding of storytelling and the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively through visuals will be invaluable. You should be comfortable with community-led processes. Our roles are quite flexible. We hope that people bring radical imagination, peace with nature, and courageous inclusiveness to the role.

As a volunteer Charity Shop Assistant, you would join a small team working with the shop managers and other volunteers to help make it a success and raise vital funds for animal welfare.

The shop is part of the RSPCA Finchley, Golders Green, Hendon & District Branch and plays an essential role in raising the profile of the RSPCA in our local community and funds for our branch so that we can continue our vital animal welfare work. Our shops sell a mixture of donated items, including clothes & accessories, books, bric-a-brac, electricals and collectables.

We have positions available on the shop floor and in our stock room or you could

volunteer to do a mixture of both.

Volunteer Charity Shop Assistant responsibilities

•  Helping customers in the shop find what they need.
•  Accepting donations of items and money from the public.
• Processing sales through the till and card machine, including Gift Aid.
• Sorting through donated items to determine what we can sell.
•  Preparing donated items for sale by steaming and hanging items.
• Merchandising stock on the shop floor.
• Creating attractive shop window displays.

What we are looking for in a volunteer Charity Shop Assistant

•  Friendly volunteers who are confident talking to people.
• Retail experience would be ideal but is not necessary as full training will be given.
• We are ideally aiming for someone who is flexible and can offer an ongoing commitment predominately on set days each week based on your availability.
• Good communication and numeracy skills.
•  You will need to be aged 18 or over.

Our voluntary roles are subject to an informal interview and trial period. We will ask you to provide contact details for two referees, and dependent on the position, you may need to sign an agreement and undergo specific training before starting the role.
