• This is a flexible role. The amount of time you offer can work to your availability and convenience.
• There may be opportunities for your activities to be fully remote and/or admin based if you'd prefer.
• You will need your own transport if you wish to attend events, ideally a car or van since items, stock and equipment will usually be needed.
• We ask that you complete training to support you in your role. This can be completed online if you have access to the internet and the necessary device (computer/laptop/tablet etc). Support can be offered or paper versions of much of the training if needed.

Our retail stores are the face of our charity on the high-street and in local communities. We have loads of amazing stock donated to us every week, and this all needs to be sorted, tagged and put on the shop-floor for sale!

Making sure our shops look fantastic is another task you can get involved with. You may also be required to help out on the till too, but we will show you how that works during your time volunteering with us. We value the contribution of everyone who supports Barnardo’s.

Youth Leaders work directly with young people in St John Ambulance Badger Setts and Cadet Units. By organising a mixed weekly programme, this role will support the learning and development of young people into the next generation of health citizens. The Volunteer Book Scheme Coordinator will be responsible for placing and maintaining book shelves in high-traffic public areas, like shopping centres or supermarkets. You will ensure that the bookshelves are stocked with quality books, regularly maintained, and that the collection tin for donations is emptied and managed. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a difference by promoting literacy, community engagement, and supporting the NSPCC's mission to protect children.

Main Duties and  Responsibilities:

• Book Shelf Placement:
  • Identify and arrange the placement of bookshelves in high-footfall areas such as local shops, libraries, community centers, or other public spaces.
  • Ensure they are easily accessible and visible to the public.
• Book Collection & Maintenance:
  • Regularly monitor and maintain the bookshelves, ensuring they are stocked with suitable, high-quality books.
• Donation Collection:
  • Empty and manage the collection tin on a regular basis.
  • Ensure that all donations are securely handled and delivered to the appropriate NSPCC accounts or locations.
  • Ensure the QR code is intact and clearly visible
• Engagement with Local Businesses & Organizations:
  • Build and maintain relationships with local businesses or organizations where bookshelves are placed, ensuring their continued support and involvement.
• Reporting:
  • Provide regular updates to the NSPCC team on the status of the book shelves, including the volume of books donated, amount of donations collected, and any logistical challenges faced.

Events Officer has the responisbility of organising (along with the help of a Trustee Events Manager) our magical visits to children/adults with LD, this could be at the hospital, social groups, refugee centres, libraries etc etc.

They will monitor the chapter email for submitted event booking forms (some of these will come from events organised by the Events Manager on Trustees). These will then be added to the calendar and advertised to volunteers. They will ensure each event organised has a handful of volunteers confirmed within a week of the event itself. They will then provide information and support to a Lead Volunteer to run the events. They will ensure that regular events are being attended by volunteers and that they have the costume and materials that are needed for these. They will follow up after events to ensure social media posts are made, hours are uploaded and that costumes are returned. They will ensure that all volunteers are attending events.

We are looking for up to ten UK university students to join our volunteer Student Ambassadors team and help Ygam achieve its social purpose by reaching out to students at university. This will be achieved by advising Ygam on the needs of students, supporting with content development, organising activities at your campus, and join us at events to raise awareness of gaming and gambling harms.

We are seeking individuals who are outgoing, with a confident personality.
