Events Volunteers are an essential part of our work for reaching and supporting different communities. Our partners in the community hold events across the UK and your support will help ensure they run smoothly, and attendees have a positive experience! You may be on your own, or as part of a team so you’ll need to be enthusiastic and motivated.

About you

• Aged 18 years and over
• Reliable and good at organising your time
• Good attention to detail
• Friendly and polite with good communication skills
• Self-directed and motivated

When and where

• Events will vary regionally and may take place during the day, evening, or weekends as a one-off or regular occurrence
• You’ll decide where and when you’d like to volunteer - we don’t expect anyone to travel far from their home

What you will do

Your tasks will depend on who you are supporting and what kind of event they’re running, but they may include:

• Completing agreed tasks on time and responding to any changes on the day
• Engaging with families and sharing your expertise if appropriate (either professional or lived experience)
• Supporting with different areas, e.g. signing people in, helping with directions, sharing information
• Identifying tasks that need doing and any issues that need reporting
• Using your initiative to respond to situations and help out without being asked
• Presenting the National Deaf Children’s Society and our community partners in a positive way

Volunteering in the shop

Our gorgeous shop in historic Windsor has been at the heart of the community since the early 1990’s (it’s truly vintage!) and has in recent years been transformed into a bespoke Mary’s Living & Giving store. 

Our Windsor Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

We are looking for volunteers (21yrs+) to befriend a child or young person in care or leaving care. To provide opportunities for them to develop a meaningful. long-term relationship.

W E  A R E  L O O K I N G  F O R  S O M E O N E  W H O

Can establish a positive, stable and long-term relationship with a young person.

Is reliable, non-judgemental, a good listener and able to engage with a child/young person.

Can promote the young persons developmental, social, emotional, cultural and religious needs.

Can value and respect the wishes and feelings of the child or young person and where necessary can advocate on their behalf.

Can adhere to policies and procedures at all times with emphasis on confidentiality, safeguarding, health & safety and relevant local authority procedures.

Is 21+ years old Has a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Meeting with the young person on a regular basis in the community for a couple of hours.

Your Role as a Mentor

The Role:

We are seeking a Volunteer Head of Sales to help drive our growth across Essex and Suffolk by building relationships with schools and youth organisations.

You will work closely with the Founder & CEO to help generate leads, book meetings, and support revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Role Overview – Treasurer (Volunteer Position)

We are seeking a dedicated Volunteer Treasurer to oversee the financial health of Children with Voices and help strengthen our financial systems. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact in a grassroots charity working to empower children and families. Time commitment: Approximately 10–15 hours per month, flexible around your availability. Location: Remote with occasional in-person meetings (London-based preferred but not essential).

Key Responsibilities

· Oversee the financial affairs of Children with Voices, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

· Ensure accurate financial records are maintained and effective financial procedures are in place.

· Monitor and report regularly on the organisation’s financial position.

· Prepare financial reports, budgets, cash flow statements, and annual accounts in collaboration with the Chair and Trustees.

· Lead on financial planning and advise the committee on the financial viability of proposals, plans, and fundraising initiatives.

· Report key financial information to trustees and support them in understanding financial obligations.

· Support the organisation with budgeting, funding applications, and ensuring value for money.

· Ensure sound internal controls, including processes for:

· - Authorisation of spending and purchasing systems

· - Managing cash flow and petty cash

· - Payment of staff or volunteer expenses (if applicable)

· - Bank reconciliation and cheque signatories

Person Specification – Ideal Qualities

· Experience in financial management, bookkeeping, or accountancy (formal qualifications desirable but not essential).

· Understanding of charity finance and relevant legal and regulatory frameworks.

· Knowledge of fundraising, grant reporting, and managing budgets in voluntary/community settings.

· Strong financial analysis and reporting skills.

· Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.

· Organised, reliable, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively with trustees and volunteers.
