We are looking for a team player with experience of finance and fundraising best practice, preferably within the charity sector, to join our Board of Trustees As we continue to expand our services, our new Treasurer will help us to develop our procedures and strategies to ensure we maintain good governance. Applicants must also be prepared to take on the wider responsibilities of becoming a charity Trustee.
This is a hands on role which requires close working with our CEO, Finance Manager, Chair of Trustees and Accountants. You will help us to review and implement new financial processes and budgeting procedures, develop new investment and fundraising policies and ensure that we operate in line with best practice. As a Trustee you will also contribute to the organisations wider mission and strategy and oversee the running of the Charity.

ABOUT THE TREASURER ROLE
We're looking for a volunteer treasurer to join our valued board of trustees and play a pivotal role in ensuring our organisation is well governed and complies with all financial legislation and good practice relating to charities and charitable income.
Our board meets 6 times per annum combining in-person with remote meetings to benefit all members. In addition, our finance & risk sub-committee meets ahead of main board meetings, approximately 2 weeks in advance, to fully review our financial position and any risks posed to the organisation, be they financial or otherwise.
The treasurer will work with our CEO, internal team and external accountant to ensure income and expenditure is in line with forecast / budget and will work to understand any variances. Our treasurer will support the team in ensuring that processes and systems are fit for purpose, reflective of the size of the organisation and do not add unnecessary burdens.
The CEO and treasurer will work together in reviewing monthly management accounts as well as supporting any requests to add expertise to project proposals and financial plans which differ to usual ways of working. The treasurer will be supported by our chair of trustees and will also maintain regular contact. Whether you're an experienced trustee or looking for your first trusteeship, we will provide the required support and training to help you take on this voluntary role.

The Board of Trustees
The CCS Board of Trustees are a group of people who represent a range of diverse backgrounds and skill sets. They have oversight of the charity and make key decisions to help steer strategic direction.
The Board meets six times a year, usually in our main office in Taunton or via Teams.
Each Trustee will commit to an additional (estimated) six hours a month. This time may include consultations and input into a range of issues between meetings, usually via email.
As Treasurer, you will chair our Finance sub-Committee and be available for the annual strategy and budget making cycle.
You will form a close relationship with our Finance Manager and their team, providing stewardship, guidance and support.
This is a voluntary role, but we will meet all relevant expenses. You will be appointed for a term of three years and may usually serve a maximum of two consecutive terms.

KMHCF is a small charity which assists individual unpaid Mental Health Carers (ie Family, Friends) with advice, guidance and peer support. As well as 1:1 support, we also have a monthly group where members can meet others with lived-experience.
We also act as the collective voice to represent the views and concerns of these Carers in the Royal Borough of Kingston. We are recognised in this campaigning role by statutory services who engage us as active members of relevant committees and strategy groups, and we also partner with other third-sector organisations.
We are keen to further develop our service and we invite a volunteer with financial experience to help us achieve this. Whilst KMHCF is fully-funded for its present activities, we will look to the Treasurer to guide us towards funding opportunities for future expansion, and to take the lead on the application processes.
Our financial activity is very low at the moment, but you would need to maintain financial control and ensure we comply with our legal responsibilities as a Registered Charity.
You should ideally have experience of serving in a small charity, or have appropriate transferrable skills.
It would be good if you have some awareness of Mental Health yourself, but this is not essential. Most of all, you should have the enthusiasm to serve Carers who can often feel isolated and bewildered.
The Treasurer would part of our Management Committee which meets about every two months on a mid-week evening. Otherwise, the role is home-based. However, we welcome offers from our Trustees to attend other meetings to represent the Forum or to take responsibility for leading projects, as they feel able.

Main duties and responsibilities
In addition to fulfilling the duties of a trustee, the Treasurer will maintain an overview of the organisation’s financial affairs in line with good practice and in accordance with the governing document and legal requirements. The Treasurer will ensure that effective and appropriate financial measures, controls and procedures are put in place and report to the Board at regular intervals about the financial health of the organisation.
Key tasks
- Overseeing, approving and presenting budgets, accounts, financial statements and financial reports to the Board after discussion with the CEO and other senior staff
- In conjunction with the CEO and Finance Manager to plan the annual cycle of financial reporting to the Board and (where appropriate) to sub-committees and to set the agendas for the finance component of meetings.
- Advising the Board on the financial implications of strategic and business plans.
- Providing assurance to the Board that the financial resources of the organisation meet its present and future needs, and recommending corrective action where this is not the case.
- Lead work on the development and implementation of financial policies, including reserves and (where appropriate) investment
- Ensuring equipment and assets are adequately maintained and insured
- Liaising with the charity’s auditors and advising the Board on the appointment or re-appointment of auditors
- Making a formal presentation of the accounts at the annual general meeting and drawing attention to important points in a coherent and easily understandable way
- Liaising with the company secretary and director of finance and resources to ensure that the charities annual accounts are compliant with the current Charities SORP
- Keeping the board informed about its financial duties and responsibilities
The Treasurer also Chairs the finance and fundraising sub-group. FFSG is a principal group of the Staying Put board. Its principal objective is to assist the board to fulfil their functions by providing timely advice on areas within its remit. It is responsible for reviewing and overseeing the management and strategy of all finance and fundraising matters of the Staying Put group and includes the areas of audit and organisational risk.
Skills, abilities and personal qualities required
- Demonstrate relevant experience in financial management, preferably with a recognised accounting qualification.
- Ability communicate financial matters to non-financial colleagues so that all Trustees are able to fully understand the organisation’s finances, review options and make informed choices.
- Ability to analyse proposals and examine their financial consequences.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Analytical ability and good independent judgement and strategic thinking which ensures continual improvement and may challenge the status quo.
- A willingness to speak their mind and engage in open debate while working effectively as part of a team
- To be honest and objective in their scrutiny of the organisation, seeking to ensure that the quality of service to clients remains paramount at all times.
- Understanding and acceptance of the role of a Board for a charitable organisation (including the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship) and of the respective roles of the Chair, Trustees and the Chief Executive Officer.
- A commitment to the organisation and a willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to the role.
- A capacity to understand and empathise with the issues of concern for CAB.
- A commitment to Nolan’s seven principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership.

We Are Family is an extraordinary peer support community for adopters and prospective adopters. We’re there for parents throughout their adoption journey. Online and in person, our parents’ groups, events, resources, podcasts and talks offer mutual support, information and inspiration to adopters and those considering adoption. The Role

Lead on the board’s duty to ensure that proper accounting records are kept, financial resources are properly controlled, invested and economically spent, in line with good governance, legal and regulatory requirements.

Lead the development and implementation of financial reserves, cost management and investment policies.

Monitor and advise on the financial viability of the charity.

Oversee the implementation of and monitoring specific financial controls and adherence to systems.

Oversee the charity’s financial risk management process.

Review and approve payments (including payroll).

Be the main point of contact for We Are Family’s bank.

Act as a counter signatory on important applications to funders.

Liaise with the appropriate member of staff responsible for the financial activities of the organisation.

Liaise with the external auditors or independent examiner on specific issues such as the auditor’s or examiner’s management letter and the related board representations.

Strength & Stem is a small charity that exists to prepare women who have survived human trafficking and modern slavery for meaningful employment, using floristry as the tool. We believe that floristry can be used as a practical tool to help survivors to build a future for themselves, as well as a therapeutic tool in healing from trauma. Every year, a holistic employability and skills training programmes for a cohort of fifteen survivors. Over nine months participants complete vocational floristry training, prevocational and wellbeing skills training, mentorship, and work experience.
The skills and experiences survivors gain through our programmes create a lasting difference for them and their families through economic independence, strengthened wellbeing and increased community. Ultimately, our vision is to see survivors restored from their trauma, empowered for the future, and able to sustain a good quality of life.
We are looking for a new Treasurer to support our charity’s growth and development. Terms
Role Title: Treasurer

Role summary
As a key trustee, the role of the Treasurer is to ensure that the charity’s finances and the supporting financial control systems are kept in good order. The Treasurer will help to maintain an overview of the charity’s affairs, ensuring its financial viability and that proper financial records and procedures are maintained.
Person specification
- Qualified accountant with demonstratable commercial awareness and knowledge.

- Proven ability to effectively communicate and simply explain financial information.

Balance (Support) CIO is creative and innovative charity providing a range of support services to people with learning disabilities and enduring mental health needs living in the boroughs of Kingston, Richmond, Wandsworth Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster.
We are seeking a new Treasurer who can build on the already considerable work the charity has undertaken to assert the independence, skills and abilities of people who are too often marginalised and forgotten by their wider communities. You will have considerable experience in a finance and accounting role, as willingness to get to grips with the financial governance obligations of a charity and drive the charity financial sustainability in a measured and assured manner.
