What your role will involve

There are a variety of tasks that you can get involved with in the shop, including:

• Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience
• Receiving donated goods from members of the public
• Sorting, steaming, tagging and preparing donated goods for sale
• Creating eye catching window and in-shop displays
• Keeping the shop floor well stocked, tidy, clean and organised
• Processing sales and serving on the till
• Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives
• Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community
• Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers
• Following new health and safety measures to ensure the safety of everyone

BRANCH TRUSTEE - Fundraising Volunteer (RSPCA OXFORDSHIRE)

Do you have bags of enthusiasm and are good at organising events? If yes, volunteer for the RSPCA as a Fundraiser and have fun and meet new people whilst raising vital funds for animals in need in your area!

Overview of opportunity

As a Fundraising Volunteer, you will play a vital part, in organising and assisting with our fundraising activities. All the proceeds from these activities go directly towards the essential animal welfare work that we do at branch level.

The RSPCA OXFORSHIRE Branch

The OXFORDSHIRE Branch was founded int 1875 we have been saving animals for over 150 years and are proud to be one of the oldest welfare charity around. It has always been our vision to live in a world where all animals are respected and treated with compassion, so our volunteers and employees work tirelessly to ensure that all animals can live free from pain and suffering.

Through our numerous campaigns, we seek to raise standards of care, and awareness of issues, affecting animals today. We rely heavily on our volunteers who play a significant role in enabling us to carry out this important animal welfare work every day!

The OXFORDSHIRE Branch is one of the branches of RSPCA, but we are also a separately registered charity looking after animals in our local area. Much of the animal welfare work of RSPCA is carried out through local branches, which is run by our Operations Manager and a team of fantastic volunteers who have the support of the National Society of RSPCA.

Fundraising Volunteer responsibilities

· Organise, advertise, and promote fundraising activities to raise vital funds to improve animal welfare.

· Plan and participate in organised events for fundraising over an agreed period.

· Communicate all planned activities with staff and other volunteers.

· Work alongside other volunteers, staff, and members of the public, ensuring excellent customer service at all times.

· Ensure best practice in fundraising and that it is legally compliant.

Job Description

Location: Remote (open to hybrid working—coordinate in-office days with the team and Michelle)
Time Commitment: 10 hours per week (includes the Grants & Finance meeting)
Meetings: Required to attend the Grants & Finance monthly online meeting held every first Thursday of the month at 11:00 AM

Do you have a strong background in finance and a passion for securing funding for community-based initiatives? We’re seeking a Volunteer Project Manager to lead and coordinate our Grants & Finance Team, helping us access essential funding and manage financial resources to support life-changing programmes.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead and manage the Grants & Finance Department

• Coordinate and chair monthly team meetings

• Identify and apply for funding opportunities, managing deadlines and submissions

• Track team tasks, monitor progress, and ensure timelines and reporting requirements are met

• Align funding applications with the organisation’s goals and strategic priorities

• Support with financial oversight, including budgeting and expenditure monitoring

• Occasionally attend in-person meetings, if preferred or feasible

Qualifications & Experience:

• Experience in finance or money management is essential

• Bid writing experience is desirable but not essential

• Excellent knowledge of Excel is preferred

• Prior experience in grants, fundraising, or nonprofit finance is a plus

• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines

• Good written and verbal communication skills

• Comfortable using remote tools and working independently or in teams

Volunteering for Sense

Our amazing team of volunteers help us run over 100 shops across England and Wales.  Every donated item that you sort, prepare and sell helps to raise vital funds to support us in our mission to make sure no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, is isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential. Our shops are at the heart of local communities – sharing the work of Sense, and helping to secure support for our life changing work.

What your role will involve

There are a variety of tasks that you can get involved with in the shop, including:

• Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience
• Receiving donated goods from members of the public
• Sorting, steaming, tagging and preparing donated goods for sale
• Creating eye catching window and in-shop displays
• Keeping the shop floor well stocked, tidy, clean and organised
• Processing sales and serving on the till
• Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives
• Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community
• Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers
• Following new health and safety measures to ensure the safety of everyone

Middlesex Students’ Union (MDXSU) is looking for three new Trustees, including a new Chair of the Board, to join our vibrant and values-driven organisation.

At MDXSU, we empower Middlesex University students to shape their lives, build their futures, and create change—together. Through student communities, campaigning, events, and independent advice, we help turn a good education into a transformative one. 

About the Role

We’re looking for individuals who are passionate about education, social justice, and the power of student-led change. As a Trustee, you’ll help shape MDXSU’s strategic direction, scrutinise finances, and ensure we’re fulfilling our charitable purpose.

Time Commitment & Expenses

• Approx. 5 board meetings per year (in-person in London)
• Optional involvement in sub-committees (4 additional online meetings annually)
• Occasional away days or events
• All reasonable expenses covered, with travel and accommodation booked by MDXSU

Across the UK, our 270 local groups play a vital part in supporting people affected by MS. They provide sense of belonging, unity and friendship. And they deliver services and support for their local MS community.

We are looking to recruit a Support Volunteer for the Swansea Group. As our local group Support Volunteer you’ll help people affected by MS find information about local and national services. That could be helping someone access local information about the care or benefits they need or giving them a hand with a grant application. See a video about one of our Support Volunteers here.

In this role you’ll be able to develop your listening and communication skills, as well as your knowledge of local services. Most importantly you’ll help people affected by MS to access the help they need.

Time commitment

We estimate this role will need around 2 hours a week. Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role.

This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.

About you

You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers. You’ll be confident using Microsoft Office, the internet and email. You’ll be able to apply disability, equality and inclusion practices and understand and apply our risk management system. Ideally you’ll understand the local area and organisations that provide local services.

You will be reliable and easy to contact and you need to live in or near the local area the group to carry out this role.
