Role Description:
Quilombo UK is seeking to welcome a qualified and experienced professional to join us as a Legal Support Specialist to join our Directors' Support Team in a volunteer capacity. The Legal Support Specialist will play a crucial role in closely supporting the Quilombo UK Directorship by conducting legal research, reviewing documents, and effectively communicating findings to the directors.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of taking briefings, translating them into actionable outcomes, and contributing to the overall success of the organisation.
Main Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Directors’ Support Team to provide legal guidance on a wide range of issues related to Quilombo UK’s operation.

Analyse legal documents, contracts, and agreements, ensuring accuracy and identifying potential risks or opportunities. Collaborate with the Directors to provide informed recommendations.

Conduct thorough legal research on relevant topics, providing comprehensive and well-documented summaries to aid decision-making processes.

Assist in managing and organising legal briefings, ensuring all relevant information is captured and disseminated appropriately to facilitate informed decision-making

Effectively communicate legal findings, updates, and recommendations to the Quilombo UK Directors. Clearly articulate complex legal concepts in a manner accessible to non-legal stakeholders.

Participate in meetings and discussions to provide timely legal insights.

Work closely with other team members to ensure legal considerations are integrated into organisational initiatives.

Work collaboratively with the Directors' Support Team to translate legal actions into tangible outcomes. Monitor progress and provide regular updates on legal initiatives.

Provide written reports as and when required. To undertake additional duties as required for the role.
Essential:

A qualified legal professional with a recognized legal qualification and relevant experience.

Proven experience in legal roles, with a strong background in research, document review, and communication of legal matters.

As an event volunteer you will play a vital role by raising awareness of our services, assisting with fundraising and engaging with the local community.You will represent Magpas Air Ambulance at a wide range of events indoors and outdoors, come rain or shine. You may be assisting with car parking, meeting and greeting, setting up a stall, selling merchandise, engaging the public and answering questions. Magpas Air Ambulance have a presence at over 150 events each year and need reliable, friendly people like you to help us achieve this. At larger events you will be supported by an event lead and we'll always make sure you are prepared and confident, you don't need to have previous experience, just be willing to get stuck in!
As an event volunteer, you will be expected to:
- Represent Magpas Air Ambulance in a respectful and friendly manner.
- Understand the work of Magpas Air Ambulance to secure basic knowledge and enthusiasm for our service.
- Wear your Magpas Air Ambulance ID badge while volunteering, ensuring it's visible at all times.
- Follow the leadership and guidance of the event lead, staff member or event organiser.
- Assist in all event activities in a flexible and friendly manner.
- Have good communication skills and be able to work with other volunteers and staff as part of a team.
- Process the sale of merchandise and take donations.
- Follow all Magpas Air Ambulance policies and procedures, including reporting any accidents and incidents.
- Recognise, respond to and report any safeguarding issues or concerns.

As chosen among 160 other organizations to work in collaboration with the Home Office on the “Building a Stronger Britain together” project, you will be joining a team, which not only supports the community but also stands up to extremism in all of its forms.
Responsibilities:
- Research, collect and concise information, related to quilombo’s key objectives, in particular cultural and racial diversity, and stereotyping in uk communities.
- Use diverse sources of information, such as articles, journals, newspaper columns, local and global news stories, etc.
- Collect information that can be used as an evidence base to help inform future activities, exhibitions, workshops, and community events.
- Provide written reports when required.
- Contribute to staff meetings.
Skills and attributes:
- Excellent written skills and ability to communicate ideas and concepts
- Ability to work with microsoft word is a must
- Ability to work with excel is an advantage, although training will be provided if needed

Quilombo UK works in collaboration with QMC Capoeira School, giving you the chance to support QMC Capoeira which is one of the most awarded Capoeira Schools in UK (UK Coaching Awards, Gillette Sports Awards, Kingston Council Sports Awards).
By joining QuilomboUK you will be supported and guided by experienced staff and volunteers, who are willing to share their skill set and will provide you with great opportunities for development in many different areas.
Ideal candidates will use their passion to promote Quilombo UK and raise its profile, while attracting new members. They should create engaging and on-brand graphics for a variety of media.

- Study design briefs and determine requirements
- Schedule projects and define budget constraints
- Conceptualize visuals based on requirements
- Prepare rough drafts and present ideas
- Develop illustrations, logos and other designs using software or by hand
- Use the appropriate colours and layouts for each graphic
- Work with copywriters and creative director to produce final design
- Test graphics across various media
- Amend designs after feedback
- Ensure final graphics and layouts are visually appealing and on-brand
Essential skills:
- Familiarity with design software and technologies (such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Suite)
- Flexibility and openness to work on a variety of tasks

As a collection tin volunteer, you will play a vital role in supporting us to raise our profile and fundraise within your community.
You will look after the Magpas Air Ambulance collection tins within a designated area, replacing full tins and returning them to an agreed location. You can also help us by finding new locations in which to place tins. These collection tins are an important part of how we raise money, raising approximately £20,000 per year.
As a collection tin volunteer, you will be expected to:
- Represent Magpas Air Ambulance in a respectful and friendly manner
- Understand the work of Magpas Air Ambulance, having basic knowledge and enthusiasm for our service
- Wear your Magpas Air Ambulance ID badge, ensuring it's visible at all times
- Travel to your collection tins (on two or four wheels). Where motorised vehicles are used, you must hold a full UK driving license, have a road-worthy vehicle with up-to-date road tax, MOT certificate (where applicable) and fully comprehensive insurance.
- Establish the regularity of required tin collections in your area, keep a log of your activities and feedback to the Supporter Care Officer
- Proactively replace full collection tins as needed and deliver them to an agreed location within one working day of collection
- Place new tins in locations within your area, ensuring they are accurately labelled with the location and organisation's name
- Inform the Supporter Care Officer of any new tins placed or any changes, helping us to ensure records are accurate and kept up to date
- Follow all Magpas Air Ambulance policies and procedures, including reporting any accidents and incidents
- Recognise, respond to, and report any safeguarding issues or concerns
