About the role 

We’re working to build and grow a powerful movement of people to transform the experience of people living with Parkinson’s. A big part of how we will do that is by how we talk to and mobilise our existing supporters through a whole variety of channels to take additional actions for Parkinson’s UK. 

You will be creating compelling content and using our tools to inspire and connect with our supporters to grow understanding of Parkinson’s and to take action to transform life with the condition.

What you’ll do:

• Work with teams across the charity to create effective supporter journeys that meet their objectives

• Support the team to manage the communications our Existing Supporters are receiving from teams across the organisation

• Work with the supporter engagement team to manage Parkinson’s UK Supporter communications calendar

• Support the Senior Journeys Officer to map supporter journeys across the organisation

• Support reporting and analysis of Existing Supporter communications to inform future plans

• Use understanding and insight to identify gaps in the supporter journey

What you’ll bring:

• Experience of engaging and communicating with supporters or customers in the commercial or not-for-profit sectors 

• Experience of communicating with a wide range of supporters with varied audience needs

• Experience of coordinating a communications calendar 

• An understanding of supporter journey mapping and using supporter insight to shape engagement plans

The Job

The National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS), is the only patient-led organisation in the UK specialising in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). Due to its targeted focus on RA and JIA, NRAS provides truly expert and wide-ranging services to support, educate and campaign for people living with these complex autoimmune conditions, their families and the health professionals who treat them.

1. Main Purpose of Job

To drive referrals to and use of, NRAS services from NHS relationships across the UK.

Identify, build and maintain relationships with Rheumatology and other multidisciplinary teams to ensure relevant healthcare professionals are aware of the support that NRAS provides to people with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Adult Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis.

To work with those healthcare professionals to maximise uptake of their referrals to our services.

Attend events around the UK and online to promote NRAS Services.

Support the I&SD Director and other senior team leaders to design, develop and implement new services and to reach new audiences for existing services.

2. Business development & Strategy

2.1. Identify, develop, and secure new opportunities for NRAS services within the NHS.

2.2. Create and implement business/service development strategies to expand the service user base, and service offering within NHS Rheumatology departments and connected healthcare teams.

Qualifications: A-level or qualified by experience

Experience:

• Demonstrable experience working in a similar environment such as charity/public sector or pharmaceutical etc. into NHS
• Health related services experience
• Proven track record of securing new business for service delivery

• Ability to initiate, analyse, monitor and evaluate outcomes

The postholder will work closely with a team of expert editors, setting priorities, ensuring consistent processes are followed and facilitating smooth collaboration. Direct editorial skills are not essential, but experience managing workflows, organisational skills and leadership is key.

• Managing a small team of editors in ensuring the high standards of MRCP(UK) examination material are maintained
• Responsibility for organising editing, developing the team’s processes

• Working closely with volunteer clinicians.

We champion individual’s voices, uphold their rights, and promote personal autonomy through the provision of high quality information, advice, and advocacy support.

The purpose of this role is to provide professional advocacy to all eligible patients. To ensure that patients voices are heard and respected, rights upheld, and to facilitate positive engagement with ward staff, professionals involved in their care, treatment planning processes, and relevant meetings. This may be facilitated through attendance at patient’s forums, ward meetings, working with patients on a one to one basis providing information, representation and support to develop self-advocacy skills; and developing new forums and forms of support.

Duties will include providing professional advocacy to all patients, informing them of their rights and supporting them with any issues that are impacting them during their hospital admission. Ensuring that advocacy is available for all patients, that appropriate methods of communication are available in order to meet the needs of all patients, and to be able to adapt to changing ward based or external changes.

This role is providing specialist advocacy for 12 Forensic Wards at Chase Farm Hospital and in community locations.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in an Advocacy Role.
