OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

Beacon, now in its second decade of operation, has experienced substantial growth over the last three years, including an organisational rebrand and expansion into international projects. We are now recruiting a Senior Patient and Scientific Engagement Officer to play a central role in delivering ambitious projects that put patients at the heart of translational research.

This role sits at the crossroads of patient involvement and scientific communication, building meaningful collaborations between patients, researchers, and other stakeholders. You’ll provide essential operational support and subject expertise to ensure projects run smoothly and reflect the real-world needs of the rare disease community.

You will contribute primarily to two of Beacon’s major collaborative initiatives: REMEDi4ALL, a European-wide drug repurposing platform with over 25 partner organisations, and the LifeArc Translational Research Centres for Rare Disease (LifeArc TrC4RD), a UK-wide partnership. In this role, you will work directly and regularly with partners across these consortia, encompassing patient group leaders, patient representatives, academic researchers, clinical trialists, and beyond. You will act as a vital interface between patients and researchers in both projects, coordinating activities, facilitating collaboration, and embedding patient perspectives throughout the work. While these will be your main focus, you will also support other initiatives across the charity, particularly those aimed at advancing scientific understanding of rare diseases and strengthening patient involvement in research.

This is a varied position offering the chance to apply and further develop your expertise across areas such as patient and public involvement, scientific content development, training, and stakeholder engagement. We are looking for someone with a strong grasp of both the scientific and patient landscapes, who can balance attention to detail with big-picture awareness and work confidently in highly collaborative settings with multiple partner organisations. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Your main responsibilities will span aspects of project delivery, stakeholder engagement, and patient-centred scientific support. In this role, you will:

• Support the delivery of Beacon’s work within REMEDi4ALL and the LifeArc TrC4RD, collaborating directly with partners across these consortia to coordinate activities and ensure timely delivery of shared goals.
• Assist in the preparation of project materials, reports, and updates for consortium meetings and communications.
• Write, review, and refine accessible, patient-facing materials that explain complex scientific concepts and research projects clearly.
• Help design and deliver patient engagement strategies for major collaborative projects, ensuring patient perspectives are embedded throughout.
• Support and liaise with REMEDi4ALL Patient Champions and the LifeArc Patient Engagement Group, including coordinating mentorship, facilitating input into project teams, and managing communications.
•  Build and maintain strong working relationships with patient advocates, researchers, funders, and partner organisations, ensuring clear communication and effective collaboration.
• Contribute to the planning and delivery of multi-stakeholder meetings, workshops, and webinars that bring together patients, researchers, and other partners to discuss research priorities and approaches.
• Support the creation and delivery of training materials, sessions, and talks for patient groups, researchers, and other stakeholders on topics such as patient and public involvement (PPIE) and rare disease research.
• Participate in project discussions to understand current patient engagement and provide input or signposting to improve engagement and support.
• Represent Beacon and its work at consortium meetings, external conferences, and events – both as a delegate and, where appropriate, as a speaker.
• Support other Beacon-led projects as required, particularly those focused on advancing patient knowledge, engagement, and scientific understanding.
• Provide hands-on support for the on-the-day delivery of Beacon events, training programmes, and other charity activities.

 PERSON SPECIFICATION

This is a mid-to-senior level role. Candidates should have professional experience in scientific engagement, patient involvement, or research coordination, and be ready to contribute confidently to collaborative consortium projects with external partners.

We are looking for someone with a strong commitment to patient-centric approaches, who is willing to advocate for patients’ perspectives and priorities, while also navigating the need for compromise and collaboration across multiple organisations.

Essential

• Relevant professional experience (e.g., life sciences, medical communication, translational research, or patient engagement), ideally accompanied by a scientific qualification.
• Experience in patient and public involvement or patient engagement within research, ideally in health contexts.
• Strong understanding of scientific processes, translational research, or clinical research, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to non-specialist audiences.
• Ability to work effectively within multi-partner or consortium projects, collaborating with external organisations.
• Confidence in liaising with a wide range of stakeholders, including patients, researchers, funders, and partner organisations.
• Experience developing accessible, patient-centred materials, training, or communications.
• Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal skills and confidence in building relationships across diverse groups.
• Ability to work independently and proactively, while contributing effectively as part of a team.
• Commitment to patient-centred research and improving outcomes for the rare disease community.
• Flexibility to travel for in-person meetings, workshops, and events within the UK and internationally multiple times a year.

What the job involves

We’re looking for a Senior Supporter Journeys Executive to help us shape how our supporters experience our charity. Working at the heart of the Individual Giving team, you’ll design and deliver engaging, insight-led journeys that build loyalty, reduce attrition, and encourage long-term support.

This is an exciting time for the charity as we're delivering a new 3-year fundraising strategy with a particular focus on loyalty. In this newly created role, you'll play a key part in making sure every touchpoint, from the first welcome to ongoing engagement, feels personal, timely, and meaningful.

You'll be responsible for developing and improving multi-channel journeys for both new and existing supporters, coordinating the creation of journeys from various channels to help increase conversion. You’ll also support the design and rollout of journeys for key segments, including legacy enquirers and tribute fund donors.

Working with our data and insight colleagues, you’ll monitor journey performance using key metrics like retention and lifetime value. You'll use our CRM and Email Service Provider to identify opportunities, track activity, and coordinate testing of messaging and value propositions to maximise engagement.

As a key collaborator, you’ll work with colleagues across the organisation and with external agencies to ensure our supporter journeys are joined up and focused on the individual.  

What we want from you

This role is a great fit for someone with experience in Individual Giving, donor stewardship, or similar supporter experience roles. You'll have a strong understanding of what drives loyalty and retention, and a clear grasp of donor lifetime value.

Your project coordination skills will be essential as you manage multiple priorities across teams, ensuring clear communication and efficient delivery. We need someone who’s comfortable working with data and insight to inform decisions, using CRMs (ideally Raiser’s Edge) and email platforms like Adestra to improve supporter journeys and campaign performance. You'll also have a good working knowledge of direct marketing concepts and multi-channel delivery, including mail, email, and digital.

We're looking for an independent thinker who can not only manage projects but also proactively identify and develop new opportunities from their own observations. With your collaborative mindset, you'll be able to work effectively across teams and adapt to changing priorities, always focused on delivering an exceptional supporter experience that's insight-led and truly impactful.

About Now Teach 

Now Teach is at a pivotal time in its strategic journey, following a hugely successful media and bridging fundraising campaign that has raised over £3m in new income for 2024-2026 and achieved 32 media mentions (15 national) and 2.5m PR views. We are now seeking to significantly grow our donor base and fundraised income and therefore are looking to recruit to this new role. We are seeking someone who can support the Director of Philanthropy and Communications to deliver our strategy to increase income through the recruitment of new donors and enable and deliver work with our current funders (primarily individuals and trusts). You’ll be the person to ensure they have an amazing experience as supporters of Now Teach.

Role overview 

This role will be varied and offer lots of opportunities to get stuck into managing relationships with high value donors. Both the CEO, and the Director of Fundraising and Communications will work to steward the relationships with our donors in person, while this role will lead on delivering high-quality preparation, proposals, reporting, and data management that underpin donor relationships. You will also contribute to building connections across teams and aligning fundraising activities with Now Teach’s wider strategy. 

You’ll deliver exciting and engaging communications and events which inspire our donors to continue to support our cause, as well as be responsible for maintaining accurate records and reporting so we can give supporters a great sense of the impact their donations make. This role will work on a combination of externally facing and internal projects and tasks and will be a great way to advance your career in fundraising.

In this role you will…

• Create and maintain a stewardship calendar of content, reports, and events to engage our donors, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities. 

• Write and produce proposals and applications for funding from major donors and trusts, in collaboration with programme and recruitment teams, championing user-centred thinking by representing participant and school impact in fundraising materials. 

• Write and produce reports with in-depth detail of what we have achieved as a result of the funding from our donors 

• Create an engaging termly supporter newsletter, sharing insights across the organisation to drive stronger engagement.

How you will make a difference

Reporting to the Prospect Research Manager, you will identify and qualify new prospects across Philanthropy, Trusts & Grants, and Corporate Partnerships. You will carry out in-depth research using a wide range of sources, manage due diligence processes and ensure accurate data is maintained on our CRM systems. You will also work closely with the Interim Head of Trusts and Philanthropy to steward donors and deliver exceptional supporter experiences.

Fowler’s Syndrome UK (FSUK) is the only charity in the world dedicated to women (and afab) with Fowler’s Syndrome or Chronic Idiopathic Urinary Retention; a life-changing and poorly understood bladder condition that causes full or partial urinary retention.

The CEO is looking to appoint a highly organised, pragmatic, and detail-focused professional to deliver executive, project and governance support on an initial fixed-term contract of 1 year.

In this vital role, you will harness your initiative as you provide proactive PA support to the CEO and Chairs of the medical and trustee boards, while delivering project and event coordination across FSUK’s core programmes.

Excitingly, alongside executive and governance administration and support and ensuring that the charity maintains the highest standards of compliance and record-keeping, you will also be responsible for project management of two major initiatives such as FSUK’s flagship CURATE consensus project, alongside their annual two-day conference. We have recently appointed our new Chief Executive Officer who takes up post in October 2025. We now seek a strategic and operationally savvy Head of Fundraising and Marketing to support the senior team as they lead The Mix into its next chapter, with prime responsibility to generate a diverse and sustainable stream of income to enable The Mix to deliver its charitable activities in the years ahead.

Overview of the role

As the organisation’s Head of Fundraising and Marketing, you will be an experienced, ambitious, enthusiastic, and dynamic professional, who is passionate about fundraising and maximising income generation.

Working closely with our new CEO and committed trustees and staff, you will develop and implement fundraising and marketing strategies that align to our vision and drive the expansion of our crucial support to young people in Suffolk.

You will have a thorough understanding of planning, organising, and delivering successful fundraising campaigns, initiatives, and events with a strong attention-to-detail. You will be comfortable working at a leadership and strategic level but also unafraid to roll up your sleeves and create bids, funding proposals, and marketing materials.

You will be a natural ambassador, working with the CEO to build partnerships at the local and regional level, and your ambassadorial skills will help raise our profile and leverage our networks and connections.

The Head of Fundraising and Marketing is responsible for the day-to-day marketing and management oversight of The Mix and 127 Trading Ltd and the management of its marketing staff and budgets.

Main Responsibilities

1. Strategic leadership

· Develop and lead the multi-channel fundraising and marketing strategy to meet agreed income targets and support 

         long-term sustainability for both The Mix and 127 Trading Ltd.

· Work closely with the CEO and Trustees, to align fundraising efforts with the strategic goals of the charity and bring               insight into income generation and stakeholder engagement.

· Actively contribute to the senior leadership team, shaping organisational policies and strategic direction, ensuring the           integration of fundraising, marketing and operational activities.

2. Fundraising and income generation

· Drive the development of diverse income streams, including major donor fundraising, corporate partnerships,                         individual giving, legacies, lotteries, community fundraising and events.

· Proactively seek new opportunities to secure long-term, multi-year funding through well-targeted funding applications           and corporate proposals.

· Build strong partner relationships with a focus on stewardship, retention, and growth.

· Monitor performance, analyse data, and drive continuous improvement.

· Chair the Fundraising sub-committee and contribute to the Data, Impact and Evidence Action Group

· Responsible for completion of all bids, grants and funding applications and ensuring that funders receive appropriate             ongoing feedback.
 

3. Marketing and communications

· Develop marketing materials and campaigns that effectively communicate the charity’s mission, vision and                             achievements to various audiences for both The Mix and 127 Trading Ltd.

· Lead the management of digital platforms, ensuring consistent and inspiring content across all channels, including the           website, social media, email and printed materials.

· Ensure that brand messaging is consistent, clear and aligned across The Mix and 127 Trading Ltd to enhance public             recognition and reputation.

· Grow awareness of the charity at a local and regional level, monitoring success through market research.

· Develop compelling narratives and stories of the charity’s impact to engage partners and encourage continued                     support.

4. Team leadership and development

· Lead and develop the Fundraising & Marketing team, fostering a collaborative and positive culture.

· Mentor and support team members in achieving their professional development goals, ensuring they attain business             objectives.

· Regularly monitor and review team performance to meet income generation and communication objectives.

5. Operational excellence

· Ensure compliance with data protection laws, fundraising regulations and ethical guidelines across all fundraising and           marketing activities.

· Review and improve the use of the website and develop systems to track donor engagement, monitor income and                 ensure data integrity and transparency.

· Work closely with finance and operations teams to oversee the management and monitoring of fundraising targets.

TRAIN is a youth work charity based in South Oxfordshire. We support young people aged 10 to 18 in Didcot, Wallingford and the surrounding areas, especially those who are under-served.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Core (day-to-day focus)

• Communications and enquiries – be the first point of contact for general enquiries via email and social media, ensuring timely and professional responses.
• Project coordination and events – Coordinate various ad hoc projects (e.g. website refresh, new systems) and provide support for events such as the Didcot Youth Festival.
• HR and volunteer support – coordinate onboarding for staff and volunteers, including references, DBS checks and inductions.

The role

The trusts fundraising officer will report to the trusts dunfraising manager.

We are seeking an enthusiastic trusts fundraising officer to join our team to help deliver our ambitious plans for growth. This new role involves managing a warm portfolio of trusts and foundations and finding new prospective donors, submitting compelling applications and providing exceptional supporter experience.

This role leads the coordination of Kids’ online engagement and digital inclusion work for young people with SEND, including information provision, participation, and wellbeing support. You will deliver a two-year Online Wellbeing and Resilience Support Programme, including identifying and engaging digitally excluded young people to help them access vital digital tools and services. The role also drives collaboration across the Digital Services Consortium (a collaboration of 12 children’s charities), embedding shared learning, outcome measurement, and inclusive digital practices across Kids, and will create new capacity to work with young people to scope and deploy online campaigning activity.  

Responsibilities

• To lead and coordinate Kids’ online engagement and inclusion work for young people with SEND. This includes Kids’ online information provision; voice/ participation and wellbeing work.
• To develop and deliver Kids’ two-year digital inclusion programme, Online Wellbeing and Resilience Support Programme* to ensure reach and impact is maximised.
• To work with the Digital Services Consortium Driving Digital Inclusion members on shared digital project outcome measures and community of practice, ensuring learnings and online engagement and digital inclusion principles are captured, shared and built into the organisation.

• To establish a holistic and joined up approach to Young People’s online engagement and digital inclusion with Kids.
• To create new capacity to work across all services and teams, and with a range of young people, to scope and deploy online campaigning capabilities in line with Kids’ Speak Up and wider national and local influencing work.

Key to your success in the role will be:

• Ensuring an audience-led approach, leading and championing an important collaborative way of working across Kids existing young people's services.
• Confidently working within the Kids digital infrastructure and context – understanding where we are at on our digital journey, building excellent problem-solving relationships with marketing, IT, change team and young people’s services colleagues.
• Helping to embed digital inclusion practices across the organisation.
• Applying strong digital, data and analytical skills to enable you to baseline, track and measure progress.
• Demonstrating excellent attention to detail whilst being flexible to adapt to the needs of a new programme.
• Influencing the broader Kids service teams to identify and engage digitally excluded young people.

Person Specification

Experience

• Proven experience working in digital engagement initiatives, ideally with young people or vulnerable groups.
• Involvement in programmes that promote digital inclusion and wellbeing.
• Experience in outcome measurement, impact reporting, and using data to inform practice.

Desirable

• Experience in co-producing content or services with young people, including those with SEND.

Skills

• Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple workstreams and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, tailored to diverse audiences including young people, professionals, and stakeholders.
• Skilled in using digital tools and platforms to deliver services and measure engagement.
• Ability to work collaboratively across teams and build strong internal and external relationships.

*About the funded programme

Kids Online Wellbeing and Resilience Support Programme will help young people with SEND (aged 13 – 25 years) build resilience, positive self-regard and meaningful connections.

Our goal is to reduce isolation and protect mental health through a supportive, inclusive digital environment. We’ll begin by consulting directly with young people to understand what they need most. Together, we’ll co-create new online content and resources that truly reflect their voices and experiences. 

 What the Programme Offers: 

• Online information with resources codesigned with young people with SEND. 

• A series of interactive webinars and guided online activities. 

• Free devices and data to improve access to those who need it most, plus the support to ensure everyone can participate.

We will reach over 1,800 young people over the two year funded period.

Thanks to National Lottery players, the Digital Services Consortium (DSC) has received over £1.5 million over two years from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest community funder in the UK. The DSC has also received a grant of £400,000 from BBC Children in Need for two years to provide digital support for disabled or seriously ill children and young people and their family members across the UK. Virgin Media O2 and Vodafone have generously donated devices and data through the Good Things Foundation National Databank and Device Bank which will help address affordability barriers.
