Our publicity team leaders have the important role of supporting a wider team of publicity volunteers. As a team our publicity volunteers collectively keep members of the public informed of the vital and varied ways we help our feline friends in need. Raising awareness is crucial to us being able to help the thousands of cats and kittens each year that rely on us. A higher profile can help raise funds, raise awareness of adopting a cat, promote neutering and encourage as many people as possible to learn about feline welfare.

What is a Publicity Coordinator?
Publicity Coordinators work with other branch volunteers to develop a Publicity Plan to raise awareness of SSAFA that reaches potential beneficiaries, volunteers, and funders.
Why do we need you?
We’ve been supporting the Armed Forces community since 1885. Our beneficiaries come from all walks of life and may have served in WW2 or in a more recent conflict like the Falklands or Afghanistan. We’d love the general public to understand what we do and how they can help us. We need to recruit volunteers that reflect our local communities and raise money to fund our work. Could you spare a few hours a week to help us raise awareness?
There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas who support local volunteers to deliver services to veterans, serving personnel and their families. Some branches are divided into smaller divisions to ensure the best local service delivery. Each branch has a team of volunteer caseworkers, support volunteers, executive roles, and fundraisers.
When would you be needed and where would you be based?
This role is about building awareness so beneficiaries know who we are and how they can benefit from and access support, promoting volunteer opportunities and encourage people to raise finds and celebrate success. This means that on occasions, you might need to be present at events. As part of your local branch, you might have access to an office, but you can conduct the administration part of this role form home.
What would you be doing?
- Working with other branch volunteers to develop a publicity plan.
- Publicising SSAFA events.
- Work with Marketing/PR staff at central office to develop case studies of clients and volunteers and ensure that SSAFA branding and messaging are consistent.
- Develop and maintain networks with local press, TV and radio outlets through providing press releases, interviews, case studies etc.
- Working with the Digital Team at Central Office to develop and maintain a local on-line presence for the branch via a website and social media channels.
- Keeping a stock of SSAFA publicity materials and distributing them
- Liaising with PR staff at central office or on-call in the event of a PR/press situation.
- Supporting local and national campaigns to recruit new volunteers.
- Being a positive ambassador for SSAFA including all sections of the community in awareness raising
- Adhering to SSAFAs policies and procedures at all times, including safeguarding, volunteering policy, equality, diversity and inclusion, health and safety, data protection and confidentiality.
The remit of this role may change over the next 12-18 months depending on the outcome of a trial currently being undertaken.

We are looking for a team player, who is able to support our board to grow the charity over the next few years. Our aim is to break down barriers which prevent people accessing the arts – as well as enriching our community with our workshops, community events and gallery space. We are a passionate and dedicated team in need of support embedding new procedures, strategies and development plans to help the charity grow. Our photo and video volunteers help source, capture and share engaging photos of cats and other images to promote everything Cats Protection does for cats across the UK. Their photos and images help raise awareness of our fantastic volunteer groups and teams which in turn helps raise funds, raises awareness of adopting a Cats Protection cat, helps promote neutering and encourages people to learn more about great cat welfare.

We’re looking for friendly volunteers who can help us maintain ellenor collection pots in the local area.
Location: Various Locations to be agreed with Line Manager. (Areas may include: Gravesham, Dartford, Bexley, Swanley, Maidstone).
Days: Ad-hoc but collection pots are to be returned to the Hospice every two weeks.
Time: Couple of hours and agreement with Line Manager but dependent on availability of volunteer.
Role
As a Pot Collector and Leaflet Distribution Volunteer, you will play a vital role in maintaining ellenor's donation collection pots in the local area.
Key tasks may include:
- Collecting replacement pots from ellenor, Gravesend
- Swapping pots with local supporters
- Issuing receipts to supporters
- Seeking potential new locations for donation pots
- Supporting Fundraising Team with collection pot plans
Some key traits you will need as an Donation Pot Collector and Leaflet Distribution Volunteer:
- Good communicator and relationship management skills

Telea's solution is a comprehensive digital health platform designed to revolutionize speech therapy services. The platform consists of two main components: a patient app and a therapist web app.
The patient app allows clients to access therapy exercises and activities from the comfort of their own homes using their mobile devices or tablets. Telea is looking to highlight and bring to life the stories of people living with Parkinsons. They are looking to create a series of short interviews with people who are living with Parkinson's and share their stories and journeys to raise awareness. Parkinson's is the fastest-growing neurodegenerative disease, and 1 in 5 people get diagnosed - They want to make sure that awareness is raised around this condition with the general public and make sure their stories are never forgotten. If this sounds like a role you would like to be part of, They are looking for somebody with some editing experience and videography skills. They would like to do a few interviews. You will need to be based in Ireland, ideally in the South (They are based in Cork).

About Onja
Onja is a social enterprise training underprivileged youth into world-class software developers.
We find the brightest students in Madagascar who can’t afford to continue their education, and train them in English language and software development. After just two-and-a-half years they are ready to work as remote front-end software developers in international tech teams.
Once in a job, our developers earn a good salary that helps them support their families and pay forward the opportunity to a new wave of students. They unlock exciting careers that fulfil their potential, and accelerate the development of their nation (see ‘How Onja Works’ below).
Our first cohort, ‘Wave 1’, consists of nineteen talented and committed graduates who are now working remotely for our partner companies in Europe and the US. With this immensely successful first cohort, and a proven social model, our goal is now to scale our impact: we aim to take on 360 new students over the next four years.

Onja is located in Toamasina, a lively city with beautiful beaches, nice restaurants, and with plenty to do and see. Toamasina is Madagascar’s second largest city (population 300,000) yet is surrounded by plenty of natural beauty, and even has a national park nearby.
About the Role
Our first cohort contains 19 developers and we have plans to train hundreds of students in the coming years. In order to do this, we need to communicate more widely and attract a talented team and partner companies to hire our future graduates. To help achieve this, we’re expanding our marketing team. Your responsibilities will include:
- Support the development and rollout of a B2B partnership and brand marketing strategy
- Social media content development, scheduling, and community management for LinkedIn
- Support the development and distribution of database emails
- Collaborate with our partners to create marketing materials
- Create and deploy marketing content that is appealing to our key international audiences
- Manage our marketing database and focus on audience growth strategies
- Create a digital marketing and measurement strategy
- Manage our main inbox
- Co-write and design Onja Annual Reports
- Press pitches and releases, and building relationships with media etc
- Monitoring and evaluating the results of our public relations activities and continuous improvement of our strategy.

Requirements
- Marketing, public relations or other relevant experience is preferred however a willingness to learn and grow in the role is most important to us.
- Experience or interest in social enterprise will be highly beneficial
- Twelve month commitment (this ensures sufficient time to make a truly meaningful impact) with potential to renew/extend.
- Excellent English communication skills
- Willingness to learn a little around the tech world and front end web development in particular.
- Photography and or videography skills would be a bonus
- Experience with a CRM would be a bonus
- Strong writing ability
