Quilombo UK is looking to recruit a Legal Assistant who helps organization in various legal matters.

This role offers a great opportunity for the right person who is looking to; gain experience in the Third Sector; develop their skills and management experience; or just simply 'give something back to their community'. The role provides you flexibility and autonomy at work. This will further help you to develop your professional development programme (PDP). Where necessary specific training will also be provided to help you develop and grow your skill set.

Main Responsibilities

• We are looking for an experienced lawyer to assist the organisation in overlooking projects, ensuring they are compliant with relevant and up to date legislation and regulations.
• The legal assistant will be responsible for making sure all contracts, legislations and documents are treated within correct legal standards. They are to make sure that all activities are being performed in line with contracts and the law.
• The Legal Assistant will work closely with the HR department in overlooking the volunteer forms, legislations and documents. They should also assist the different departments within the organisation(Marketing, Funding, HR, Finance) in upholding the legal requirements needed to run the tasks that they do.
• Provide written reports as and when required. To undertake additional duties as required for the role.

The Professional Development Programme with Quilombo UK runs over a period of 16 weeks, is UNPAID and requires a minimum of 12 hours commitment per week across Monday to Friday.

Upon successful application, our HR team will contact you to arrange an interview. Following a successful interview, we'll initiate the onboarding process by sending you the necessary documents. Once your onboarding and identification documents are received and verified, you'll be invited to a 6-hour HR and System Induction. Subsequently, you'll meet with your Head of Department or Assistant Manager for your First Day.

Quilombo UK is looking for a Bid Writer - Commercial Proposal Volunteer to join their team. Quilombo UK is a not for profit social enterprise that challenges people to think differently and bridge gaps between communities, with the aim of building a culturally rich society, where differences are accepted and celebrated. As chosen among 160 other organizations to work in collaboration with the Home Office on the “Building a Stronger Britain together” project, you will be joining a team, which not only supports the community but also stands up to extremism in all of its forms.

By joining Quilombo UK and QMC Capoeira School you will be supported and guided by experienced staff and volunteers, who are willing to share their skill set and will provided you with great opportunities for development in many different areas.

Ideal candidates will assist Quilombo UK in preparing funding bids that contribute to their further development. They should be well-organized, with a proactive attitude to deliver work that adheres to the key objectives of the organization. Candidates should be willing to volunteer at least 12 hours a week, for a duration of 16 weeks.

You will be volunteering as part of the team who are responsible for creating the bids to attract funding for our new or existing projects. The role will involve discussing project ideas and proposals with the management & project teams, searching for the right funding opportunities and preparing bids for submission.

You will work as part of an experienced team, where writing skills and experience in crafting persuasive and compelling content are essential.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and write commercial proposals tailored to meet the specific requirements of clients and align with business objectives.

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. • This is a flexible role. The amount of time you offer can work to your availability and convenience.

• You will need your own transport if you wish to attend events, ideally a car or van since items, stock and equipment will usually be needed.
• We ask that you complete training to support you in your role. This can be completed online if you have access to the internet and the necessary device (computer/laptop/tablet etc). Support can be offered or paper versions of much of the training if needed.

Hestia has a variety of different services that support people across London and the South East. These services support people that are struggling with their mental health, are victims of Domestic Abuse or Modern Slavery, and more. Join our team of volunteers who play a vital role in what we do! We work with people who need support with their mental health across London and the South East. Our support ranges from registered accommodation services for people with severe mental health conditions to drop-in community and crisis services.

In the last year, 9,499 adults accessed Hestia’s mental health support.

We help people to feel safe, develop hope for a better future, and achieve their personal goals. These goals may include rebuilding relationships with family members and friends or connecting more with their local community.

The Board of Trustees are looking to recruit a knowledgeable and experienced individual for the voluntary role of Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees. The main activity at Swansea Community Workshops (SCW) is to provide facilities for hobbies, recreation, and leisure time occupation in a socially interactive and practical environment, where there are skills sharing, learning of new skills, and helping community-based projects. Role Overview

Title: Vice-Chair (Voluntary) Reports to: Board of Trustees.

Hours: 6-10 hours per month as minimum. Attendance to monthly sub-committee meetings and bimonthly Board of Trustee meetings is expected.

Role Summary

The Vice-Chair shares responsibility with, and in the absence of, the Chair for board management, support to individual trustees and support to the Centre Manager, facilitating scrutiny of SCW’s strategic direction, values, policies, and operational efficiency. The Vice-Chair also plays an active role in representing the organisation to a range of internal and external stakeholders.

About Candlelighters 

Candlelighters provides financial, emotional and practical support to families affected by childhood cancer in Yorkshire. We support around 150 new families each year and our work ensures the whole family unit is supported in these extraordinary circumstances. 

We support children and their families from diagnosis and throughout their journey, including providing  financial support, practical help in hospital, much needed breaks, as well as emotional and well-being support at our Family Support Centre (The Square) and Family Support Bus.

Purpose of the Role and Key Activities 

Candlelighters needs to fundraise £2million every year to continue providing services to families. The Administration and Office Support Volunteer provides crucial administrative and office support to the Fundraising Team and is central to helping the team raise the money we need to continue supporting children and families affected by childhood cancer in Yorkshire.

Activities vary, but may include 

• Responding to enquiries from supporters via telephone and e-mail

• Providing administrative support and helping to prepare resources, merchandise and equipment for events 

• Taking leadership over the Candlelighters Ebay page. Adding merchandise to sell, liaising with any queries and fulfilling any orders 

• Answering the phone, transferring calls and taking messages 

• Updating the supporter database 

• Writing thank you letters and sending certificates 

• Processing large mailings (including mail merge) and dealing with any returns 

• Franking letters and parcels 

• Arranging courier companies for large deliveries

• Filing (paper and electronic)

• Providing administrative support for events 

• Assisting the Fundraising Team with other tasks and activities as required 

• Send out Merchandise to our fundraisers/Challenge events participants (Running tops, T-Shirts, FR Materials) 

• Research – future challenge events/mailing contacts 

• Preparing Collection Tins/Buckets for use by fundraisers 

• Making up Goody Bags for events 

• Adhering to Candlelighters’ policies and procedures.

Volunteer Requirements 

We are looking for volunteers who 

• Have strong administrative skills 

• Have experience of working in an office environment 

• Have strong IT skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel 

• Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills 

• Have experience of communicating in a professional capacity via telephone, email and in person.

• Are friendly and approachable, whilst also able to maintain professional boundaries 

• Have strong attention to detail

• Are able to work well as part of a team 

• Are able to work independently and use own initiative 

• Are able to lift and carry boxes, equipment and resources

• Are able to climb multiple flights of stairs 

• Are able to follow Candlelighter’s policies and procedures. 

We recognise that family members accessing Candlelighters’ services may wish to volunteer with Candlelighters. However, this particular role is not suitable for family members receiving support from Candlelighters. The AdAmi Project is on the hunt for a dedicated volunteer Safeguarding Trustee to join our friendly Board! You’ll help ensure young mothers in Sierra Leone are protected and supported as they rebuild their lives. We’re looking for someone with safeguarding knowledge, a collaborative spirit, and a strong commitment to accountability and care. Your guidance will help keep our work safe, ethical, and grounded in dignity.

The AdAmi Project works together with young mothers in Bo district, southern Sierra Leone, to build happy, healthy and independent lives. We facilitate opportunities, foster hope, reunify families, build community and amplify the voices of young mothers so that they can be the drivers of their own lives.

ROLE OVERVIEW

As the Safeguarding representative on the Board of Trustees, your primary responsibility is to ensure that safeguarding is embedded in all aspects of the AdAmi Project’s work. You will provide support, oversight, and guidance to help protect the young mothers we serve.

Summary of additional responsibilities: 

1. Leadership & Oversight

• Serve as the Trustee’s lead for safeguarding and provide an update at quarterly Board of Trustee meetings.

• Provide oversight on safeguarding practices with our local partners and respond to any concerns appropriately.

2. Policy & Practice

• Support the implementation and regular review of safeguarding policies and practices for AdAmi UK and our local partners.

• Ensure policies comply with UK Charity Commission guidance and are appropriately contextualised to Sierra Leone.

3. Training & Awareness

• Ensure all staff, volunteers and Trustees at AdAmi UK and our local partners receive appropriate safeguarding training on a regular basis. 

• Promote a safeguarding culture and continuously share best practices.

4. Monitoring & Reporting

• Regularly review safeguarding reports and incident logs.

• Advise on managing safeguarding concerns or disclosures.

• Support risk assessments related to safeguarding.

Required commitment:

• Attend quarterly Board of Trustee meetings held virtually for up to two hours. 

• Liaise with local partners to review quarterly safeguarding reports and provide feedback on safeguarding best practices, as well as ensure teams receive refresher training at least once annually. 

• Ad hoc preparation and/or review of key safeguarding documents and policies.

• Represent the Board of Trustees at AdAmi Project fundraising and awareness raising events, as and when is required (a few times a year, maximum).

“Solta o Jogo” is a vibrant cultural competition and festival celebrating Brazilian heritage through Capoeira, music, dance, acrobatics, and a Brazilian arts & crafts fair. Hosted at Kingston University Townhouse, the event invites the community to participate in free performances, workshops, and exhibitions promoting cross-cultural understanding.

As part of this initiative, we are seeking a Legal Assistant to support the organisation in ensuring legal compliance and best practice across all departments. Position Overview:
The Legal Assistant will play a key role in ensuring that Quilombo UK’s operations—including its programmes, policies, and partnerships—are fully compliant with current UK legal standards. Key Responsibilities:

Legal Compliance & Advisory:

Cross-Departmental Collaboration:

About the CARAS ESOL Team:

Our award-winning ESOL project offers English language classes to adults at a wide range of levels. This provides vital skills, opportunities and social contact and is crucial for enabling people to attend college and access other services in the future.

About the Role:

CARAS is looking for volunteer ESOL Teaching Assistants to support our face-to-face adult ESOL classes in Tooting. Volunteers in this role are required to commit to at least one 2-hour session every Wednesday during these times: 

• Mondays ESOL 9:30 to 13:30

• Tuesday 9:30 to 11:30

• Tuesday One-to-one employability and language learning support 15:00 to 17:00 

Please note that ESOL classes do not run during school holidays, and we follow Wandsworth Council term dates.

Volunteer tasks and responsibilities:

• Providing learners with one-to-one or small group support within ESOL classes; 

• Helping to set up the classroom and provide learners with classroom resources;

• Attending and contributing to volunteer debriefs after each session; 

• Making use of any community languages you may know to help students during the class; 

• Working collaboratively as a team and helping to shape the project; 

• Supporting people to develop their knowledge and skills, encouraging and inspiring participants to reach their full potential; 

• Assisting participants to recognise and celebrate their achievements; 

• Following CARAS’ confidentiality, safeguarding, health & safety, equal opportunities, data management and all other policies as relevant.  

Requirements: 

Essential: 

• To be 18 years or older; 

• Able to travel to our community centre in Tooting (travel expenses can be reimbursed); 

• An interest in education and English language teaching; 

• To be non-judgemental and able to engage with people from diverse backgrounds; 

• To be reliable and punctual; 

• Excellent communication skills, especially with people who are new to English; 

• The ability to volunteer on Mondays or Wednesdays during Wandsworth term time for a minimum of three months; 

• Currently resident in the UK; has asylum-seeker or refugee status 

• *Able to provide five years’ worth of addresses, and willing to undergo a DBS check; 

• Able to attend volunteer induction training (online) prior to start of role. 

 *DBS and proof of residency is not necessary if you are a CARAS community member who is more recently arrived in the UK. 

Desirable: 

• Knowledge of community languages, such as Arabic, Tigrinya, Amharic, Pashto, Dari, Farsi, Kurdish, Somali or Spanish.

• Keeping the shop floor well stocked, tidy, clean and organised
• Processing sales and serving on the till
• Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives
• Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community
• Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers
• Following new health and safety measures to ensure the safety of everyone
