Overall job purpose
This is a fundamental role within our regional teams, internally the role is known as Local Community Officer.
The future of CCT’s outstanding collection of historic churches depends on communities supporting their local CCT church with funds, events, inspiring interpretation, visitor services and preventive conservation. The Local Community Officer will engage and support communities and volunteers to care for 13 historic churches across Norfolk, ensuring each site achieves agreed standards.

We have attached the pack, outlining each value, which we will also be using as part of our shortlisting and interview process to find the right candidates that align with our values.

About the Role
This is a newly created role and an exciting opportunity to help shape how Home-Start Guildford engages with supporters, businesses, schools and community groups across Guildford Borough. Working as part of a small, supportive team, you will play a key role in developing community fundraising, local partnerships and supporter engagement, helping to build the charity's long-term sustainability and impact.
The role is for 15 hours per week, ideally worked across 2–3 days, with a preference for one of the days to be on a Thursday. We are happy to discuss and agree working days with the successful candidate.
The position is initially offered on a 12-month fixed-term basis as part of our commitment to strengthening community engagement and developing sustainable income streams. We hope to build on the success of the role and explore opportunities for it to continue beyond the initial contract period, subject to funding availability and organisational need.

We are seeking a passionate and motivated professional to drive participation, engagement and income through a portfolio of exciting fundraising and challenge events across the UK.

Your Role
As our Community Engagement Officer, you'll inspire communities, volunteers, and supporters to help transform the lives of disabled children, young people, and their families.
Working as part of our passionate Fundraising and Advocacy team, you'll build meaningful relationships, grow fundraising, raise awareness, and help expand Challengers' impact in local communities.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Build and maintain relationships with local communities to grow fundraising income.
· Represent Challengers at community events and fundraising activities.
· Support and steward third-party fundraisers to help them achieve successful outcomes.
· Provide outstanding stewardship and support to donors, supporters, and volunteers.
· Recruit, train, and support volunteers, ensuring a positive and rewarding experience.

About you
We're looking for someone who is passionate about building relationships and inspiring others to support a great cause. You'll bring:
· Experience in fundraising, community engagement, events, or volunteer management, ideally within the charity sector.
· A track record of achieving fundraising or income targets and building strong relationships with supporters and stakeholders.
· Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to engage a wide range of audiences.
· Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver successful campaigns and events.
· A good understanding of fundraising principles (or a willingness to learn) and a commitment to excellent supporter care.
· Confidence using Microsoft Office, CRM systems (ideally Salesforce), and digital tools such as Canva, WordPress, email marketing platforms, and social media.
Essential - A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.
