Faith to Faithless is Humanists UK’s support programme for so-called ‘apostates’; those who leave high-control religions.
The service is led by mostly ex-religious people themselves, who have knowledge and experiences of apostate communities facing serious and systemic issues. These issues range from emotional and physical abuse from family members, friends, and peers in their community, through homelessness, job loss, shunning, and so-called ‘honour-based’ abuse, to systemic failures by statutory organisations to support apostates.

We are currently looking to expand our team of Online Peer Support Facilitators.
We hold weekly online peer support events via Zoom for individuals who have left high-control religious groups. These sessions provide a safe, facilitated space where participants can connect with others who share similar experiences. Each Thursday, from 19:00–20:00, a pair of facilitators lead a conversation on a relevant topic with a group of approximately 10 participants. The rota is flexible; volunteers are asked to commit to hosting or assisting the host at least once a month, and possibly every two weeks.

Tell My Truth and Shame the Devil C.I.C. is seeking a Volunteer Clinical Therapy Lead to join our founding volunteer team. This role helps ensure that all emotional wellbeing and therapeutic support offered through the organisation is safe, ethical, culturally responsive, and aligned with our survivor-led mission.
As Clinical Therapy Lead, you will provide guidance and oversight for therapy and emotional support activities within the organisation. You will work closely with programme teams, facilitators and safeguarding leads to ensure support is trauma-informed, culturally aware, and responsive to the needs of survivors and community members.
This role combines professional clinical insight with practical collaboration to help build safe and supportive therapy systems for the community.
Experience, Qualifications and Requirements
Essential Experience

Professional qualification and registration in Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Psychotherapy, Counselling, or a related discipline (HCPC, BACP, UKCP, BABCP or equivalent).

Experience providing trauma-informed therapeutic support.

Understanding of how culture, identity and systemic factors affect emotional wellbeing.

Knowledge of safeguarding frameworks and ethical clinical practice.

Ability to assess risk and provide clear clinical guidance in sensitive situations.

Experience supporting or supervising practitioners, facilitators, or volunteers.

Strong communication skills, including explaining clinical concepts to non-clinical colleagues.

Experience working with survivors, vulnerable individuals, or marginalised communities.
Desirable

Experience working within community, grassroots or voluntary sector organisations.

Interest in developing culturally responsive therapeutic approaches.
Qualifications
Current professional qualification and registration with a recognised regulatory body (HCPC, BACP, UKCP, BABCP or equivalent).
Key Responsibilities

Provide clinical guidance to ensure therapy and emotional support services are safe, ethical and trauma-informed.

Support the planning and delivery of culturally responsive wellbeing programmes.

Advise staff and volunteers on safeguarding, emotional safety and appropriate support approaches.

Offer guidance or supervision to facilitators delivering emotional support sessions.

This role is central to designing, structuring and delivering educational programmes that support survivors, young people and marginalised communities to access knowledge, develop skills and achieve personal and collective growth.
Purpose of the role:
The Volunteer Instructional Designer supports our mission by designing engaging, effective and learner-centred educational materials. In this role, you will collaborate with subject matter experts, program staff and other volunteers to transform ideas and content into structured learning experiences that are accessible, inclusive and impactful.
About the Role:
As Instructional Designer, you will work closely with the Membership Director, Book Club Coordinator, and Social & Digital Media Education Lead to develop structured learning pathways, modules, and resources for our membership programmes. Your work will ensure that all learning experiences are engaging, accessible, and aligned with our anti-capitalist, community-driven, and survivor-centred mission. This is a hands-on, impactful role combining strategy, creativity, and operational delivery.
Experience Qualification and Requirements
Essential Technical Competencies:
- Experience in instructional design, curriculum development or educational programme creation in formal or informal learning environments.
- Proven experience designing and delivering community-based education, training or learning programmes.
- Experience using content creation tools (e.g., Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Workspace, Canva).
- Basic familiarity with e-learning tools, learning management systems or content creation software is a plus.
- Ability to develop structured learning pathways with clear outcomes and assessments.
- Ability to translate complex or technical information into clear, accessible and inclusive learning materials.
- Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design best practices.
- Hands-on experience contributing to open-source projects.
- Implementing security, accessibility or system optimisation practices in real-world projects.
