Summary

This is an exciting entry-level opportunity, perfect for someone who loves customer service and working with people, who has great organisation skills and/or an interest in working in fundraising for the not-for-profit sector. We're looking for someone who is keen to make a real difference in society and wants to gain experience working for a charity committed to improving the health and wellbeing of people across the UK.

The Mass Market Fundraising (MMF) team is at an exciting stage; we're in year two of our five-year strategy and have achieved some great wins in year one. In the Supporter Engagement team, we use relationship-building engagement tactics and tools to reach new people and build strong relationships with our supporters, which in turn drives income and higher levels of engagement with the charity. No two days are the same as we work with fundraisers taking on challenge events (such as the London Marathon and virtual challenges), those who set up their own event (such as an auction or craft fair), as well as those who make a one-off or regular donations.

About the role

The Mass Market Fundraising Assistant will be responsible for providing engaging, tailored advice to supporters that will inspire them to raise as much money as they can, and also encourage them to stay engaged with Versus Arthritis for years to come.

We will provide all the training you need to feel confident when speaking to our fundraisers and to support the team to do their best work. We would love to find someone who is great with people, prides themselves on being well-organised with good attention to detail, loves working in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about making a difference to people in society.

Key requirements

  • Experience of communicating effectively in writing, over the phone and in person with different audiences.
  • Confident in handling sensitive and confidential conversations.
  • Process-oriented, with the ability to understand and improve systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and confidence in talking to people from all backgrounds.
  • Strong track record of excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with the team and across the organisation.
  • Commitment to providing excellent supporter care and keeping our supporters' best interests at the heart of our work.

How to apply

To apply you MUST submit:

  1. a concise, up-to-date CV
  2. along with a completed supporting statement form demonstrating how you meet the key requirements set out in the job description and person specification for the mass market fundraising assistant role
  3. please include where you've seen this role advertised.

Email your completed application by 11 October 2021.

Interviews

Interviews are expected to be held 21 and 22 October on Microsoft Teams.
