Competencies
- Knowledge, empathy, understanding and proven ability to work creatively and engage homeless people whose alcohol/ drug misuse/ mental health/ complex trauma has had significant effect on their physical and mental health, social and coping skills .
- Ability to assess needs, risks (within a framework of positive risk taking) and develop user led support plans.
- Awareness of and ability to identify and address health and care issues with partners, especially substance misuse, mental health, dementia etc.
- Ability to respond to challenging behaviour in a safe way.
- Ability to develop successful professional relationships, working collaboratively with external and internal partners , sharing expertise and learning from colleagues in health, social care,probation and voluntary sector etc
- Knowledge of and commitment to service user involvement, self empowerment, equalities, diversity andservice improvement
- Basic understanding of the principals of delivering support within a Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) and commitment to working within this model
- Robust knowledge and practical application of adult safeguarding requirements.
- Knowledge and understanding of Healthand Safety in a hostel setting, including dealing with emergencies and working alone.
- A good listener and communicator at all levels, including people with communication difficulties
- A good standard of literacy, numeracy, computer skills and the ability to write accurate and succinct reports.
- Proven ability both to work within a team and use initiative to problem solve.
- Excellent time management skills
- Willingness and ability to support personal care where the service user is at risk

In our Hammersmith and Fulham service, we provide that opportunity through one high-support hostel and two medium-support hostels, where 24 Londoners are rebuilding their lives while managing their mental health and other complex challenges such as substance use or past offending. As a Project Worker, you’ll play a leading role in helping clients understand and manage their emotional and mental health needs, while developing the confidence and skills to live independently. Job Title: Housing Support Worker
Location: Brent. Step‑free access is available at our main office. However, due to the nature of the role, you may be required to visit homes and other buildings that do not provide step‑free access
Salary: £27,000
Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday on a rota which can range between 08:00 - 16:00, 09:00 - 17:00 and 10:00 - 18:00. You may be required to work outside these hours dependent on service and participant requirements.
About the Role
We're hiring a Housing Support Worker to join our floating support service which is based in Brent. The service supports adults who have been or are at risk of homelessness, have experienced social exclusion, have previous criminal convictions, suffer with their mental health, and substance misuse, and/or could have a learning disability. You will support participants on their journey towards recovery, reablement, and independence, all within a compassionate, trauma informed environment.
In this role, you'll be at the heart of delivering high quality, person centered support through tailored support plans which provide practical interventions, to empower our participants to overcome personal challenges, develop life skills, and achieve their personal goals. You will also work closely in partnership with various organisations to support the different needs of our participants, which may include signposting. Key Responsibilities Include:
- Support participants will all aspects of their housing needs to support them ensure sustainable housing.
- Co-create tailored support plans which are centred towards the participants needs.
- Signpost participants with local providers to support with their independence such as with Job Centres, employment support hubs, community support centres, mental health trusts and other as relevant.
- Recognise support needs in an individual and initiate appropriate interventions to prevent further deterioration.
- Complete safeguarding and other referrals where required.
About You
This role is ideal for someone who has a real passion towards helping others to achieve greater independence. You will thrive in a person centred environment with real compassion and a non judgmental attitude, understanding that people face different life experiences and sometimes just need that extra support to get back on their feet. - Understanding of the housing support needs that people with multiple, and complex needs face
- Experience of working with people of complex backgrounds and/or a good understanding of the sector
- Ability to use, learn and adapt to IT at an intermediate level, including Microsoft and other software programs
- Ability and willingness to show flexibility of working patterns, responding to the needs of the service and residents
- Understanding and/or practical knowledge of the social and societal marginalisation that can be attached to people with complex needs

About the role:
Single Homeless Project (SHP) and Islington Council are proud to introduce St. John’s Mansions - a brand-new, purpose-built accommodation service that will provide safe, high-quality housing for individuals experiencing homelessness and facing multiple exclusion. This innovative project is backed by the GLA’s Single Homelessness Accommodation Programme (SHAP), and represents a bold step forward in tackling homelessness across North London. SHP are building a dynamic, compassionate, and forward-thinking team to bring this vision to life.
St. John’s Mansions will offer 19 beautifully finished self-contained studio flats, designed to support residents in their journey from rough sleeping and emergency accommodation to independent living. With a stay of up to 24 months, residents will receive tailored, high-intensity support to help them build the skills and confidence needed to thrive independently.
The service will operate 24/7, with a welcoming reception and dedicated staff & clients spaces to enable both structured interventions and spontaneous, meaningful engagement. SHP will be working not only within Islington but in partnership with five North London boroughs - Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, and Westminster. You’ll hold a caseload of clients and take the lead on delivering person centred, strengths based support that is grounded in PIE and trauma informed approaches. This includes completing holistic assessments, co-producing support plans and risk management plans, and working consistently towards move on goals. Alongside this, you’ll play a key role in the day to day running of the service, working closely with colleagues and partner agencies to maintain a safe, well managed environment, respond to emerging needs, and ensure each client receives coordinated, high quality support that supports their journey into independent living.

In this role, you’ll work closely with adults living in our accommodation, building trusting relationships and supporting them to take positive steps towards independence. Our Service
Trauma Recovery CIC is a female founded not-for-profit Community Interest Company dedicated to providing vital support services for victims and survivors of trauma. Founded in 2020, our mission is to build a safe, supportive, accessible, and sustainable service for the community.
Butterflies Lived Experience Community is an integral part of Trauma Recovery CIC, bringing together people with lived experience of sexual, domestic and/or relational trauma to form a community that supports each members ongoing recovery journey.
Every member of the Butterflies team has direct personal lived experience of sexual, domestic and/or relational trauma and use their own courage to support others to connect with theirs and use this to fuel their recovery.
The team consists of level 1,2 and 3 Lived Experience Facilitators, Volunteer Ambassadors who come together to support community members and develop the service on a co-production model.
The Level 3 LEF Role
Our Level 3 LEF role requires a Social Work qualification and registration.
As well as facilitating groups and key working, Level 3 LEF’s take responsibility for:

understanding of their support needs and that they can be safely supported through Butterflies LEC. -
Mentoring and supporting the Level 1 and 2 LEF’s and Ambassadors

Facilitating the understanding trauma programmes

Providing reporting data to Trauma Recovery CIC Business Operations Lead and working with them to complete

Contribute to the newsletters, social media, attend events to promote the service (at times this may require
attending events outside of usual working hours). -
Ensure that all team members complete required admin accurately and in a timely manner and processes are
followed. -
Highlight concerns about team members to the leadership team, identify ways to support the team or team

Our ideal candidate
- Is someone who has walked their own recovery journey, experienced therapeutic support as part of this and understands the benefits on both a personal and professional level of therapy and group support.
- They will be a qualified, registered Social Worker with relevant social work experience of co-ordinating a service, mentoring team members and working from a systemic perspective.
- They will have experience of completing risk assessments, keeping records and using software and systems to do this effectively.
- They will be able to communicate and connect with people from a variety of backgrounds, understand their individual needs and work creatively to meet them in way that supports recovery.

Shift Pattern: 37.5 per week Monday to Sunday on a rolling rota between 07:30 - 21:00, including evenings and bank holidays. You may be required to work outside these hours depending on resident and service needs.
About the Role
We're hiring a Mental Health Recovery Worker to join our team based in Enfield. In this role, you will support residents with complex mental health needs. Offering 21 beds in a 24 hour supported accommodation to adults with complex mental health needs. We are here to promote independence and give our residents the tools needed to fulfil their lives in the community independently.
As a Mental Health Recovery Worker, you will play a key role in supporting individuals on their journey to recovery, reablement, and rehabilitation, providing person centred and trauma informed support in a psychologically informed environment (PIE), to empower residents to achieve their goals and improve their well-being. Here, you’ll support individuals transitioning from complex care or acute mental health services to a structured rehabilitation setting. Working closely with the mental health trust community rehabilitation team, you’ll help residents overcome challenging behaviour's and support medication compliance, making a real difference every day. Key Responsibilities Include:
- Provide tailored support to residents to help them achieve their personal goals and outcomes. This may involve contributing to and developing support plans, conducting risk assessments, participating in reviews, and attending case meetings.
- Deliver all required aspects of the service efficiently and consistently. This includes welfare checks, support sessions, safeguarding monitoring, risk assessments, and involvement in training and development.
- Ensure residents fully understand their rights and responsibilities, and have access to appropriate tools, resources, and support networks to achieve their goals.
- Help design, lead, and encourage participation in a range of projects, group sessions, and community-based activities.
- Create an empowering and enabling environment where individuals are supported to make informed decisions and take control of their own lives.
- Provide practical advice, emotional support, and life skills training to promote independence and resilience.

Sounds great, what will I be doing?
The role involves supporting service users from referral through admission, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met while collaborating with clinical teams for smooth transitions. Staff provide activities and interventions to help reduce crises, identify triggers, and create safety plans that promote mental health and prevent hospital admissions. One-on-one sessions are conducted to develop wellness recovery action plans, set SMART goals, and build social networks, alongside practical life skills training such as food preparation. Staff also liaise with statutory and voluntary agencies, deliver post-admission welfare support, and maintain high living standards between admissions, all while engaging in professional development to address challenges like self-harm and substance use.
The position emphasizes teamwork, co-production, and administrative duties. Staff collaborate with Recovery Workers and management to deliver a team-based approach, promote services, and support user engagement in peer-led activities and forums. They are responsible for maintaining accurate service user records, monitoring service upkeep, ensuring health and safety compliance, and working with multi-agency providers under governance protocols. Additionally, they contribute to developing service standards, follow policies and legislation, report maintenance issues, and undertake additional duties as required, always upholding health and safety rules and procedures.

Here's what the team will be looking for
The role requires demonstrable experience supporting people with mental health and complex needs, along with a strong understanding of recovery approaches and co-production. Staff should be able to design and deliver activities that reduce anxiety, build confidence, and support individuals in creating their own recovery journeys. This includes engaging service users in assessments, co-producing and reviewing support and safety plans, and maintaining accurate monitoring records for internal use and external reporting. A good knowledge of legislation, including welfare reform, the Care Act, and housing pathways, is essential, as well as the ability to handle financial transactions accurately and use IT systems, including MS Office and case management tools.
Flexibility and resilience are also key, with the need to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, while maintaining high service standards in unpredictable or challenging situations. The role requires excellent stakeholder relationship skills and the motivation to deliver consistent, high-quality support. An understanding of basic building safety issues and the ability to identify repairs is desirable. Overall, the position combines strong technical knowledge, administrative accuracy, and interpersonal skills to ensure effective support and recovery-focused care for service users.

New Hope is a 24 hour supported accommodation service for adult males with diagnosis of mental health and convictions. As a Forensic Mental Health Recovery Worker you will identify individual resident needs, and provide person centred, tailored support to residents to help them overcome their personal challenges and achieve their goals. We support our residents in developing coping strategies and building supportive relationships, with a commitment to professionalism, teamwork, and customer service.
You will support with tenancy matters proactively, providing responsive support and fostering a positive environment where residents feel secure and valued. About the Role
These roles are based in Cumberland North (Carlisle), Cumberland West (Workington) and Westmorland & Furness (Barrow). There is a requirements to travel to meet clients & work across areas as required, with a combination of home and office working.
As a Children and Young People IDVA (CHIDVA), you will play a vital role in providing high quality, end-to-end support to children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse across Cumberland. You will act as the single point of contact for young victims throughout their recovery process, delivering support and interventions in a group setting or one-to-one basis.
You will need: -
You will have a thorough understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on child victim/survivors.
You will understand safety and risk and how it relates to children and have strong communication skills and the confidence and ability to present and educate service users and agency partners on the realities and impacts of domestic abuse in a variety of settings. An ability to work independently and prioritise a busy workload is essential.
You will have the skills to provide effective crisis intervention, carry out risk assessments, safety planning, assessment of needs and individual support planning. You should have demonstrable experience of working in a similar setting or position.
To be successful in this role you should have good IT skills & thorough safe guarding awareness.
This role involves regular travel and due to the location, a driving license and access to a vehicle is considered an essential requirement.
