Co-op Homes (CHS) is a housing association which owns some 300 properties across London and the South East. We're also a managing agent for 30 other community housing organisations and housing co-ops, providing services to over 2,000 residents. Our unique proposition lies in our ability to provide expert housing management services to housing co-operatives and other small, resident-led housing organisations, enabling them to maintain their autonomy.

Board member opportunities

CHS is governed by a Board of Management made up of paid members who meet regularly throughout the year to direct policy and make major decisions on housing matters. The Board is also responsible for ensuring that we are managed efficiently, effectively and in line with the requirements of the law, regulatory bodies, best practice and value for money.

We have an active Board, currently made up of five members, bringing a variety of skills and backgrounds. Our Chair has been in the role since 2021 and we appointed a new Managing Director within the last year.

We are now looking to recruit two new board members. One who can bring strategic finance expertise and another with building asset management experience.

• Strategic finance: As a provider, we offer a unique set of services that have particular challenges. We are looking for an experienced senior finance professional to help us balance the risks and benefits involved in relation to our portfolio and scrutinise our finances strategically for the longer term. 
• Building asset management: We are looking for expertise in property management. This will include repairs and maintenance, health and safety legislation and regulations, strategic asset management and decarbonisation.

We would very much welcome applications from people who combine relevant expertise with lived experience of social housing or experience of living in a housing co-operative, as we know you would bring a unique insight to the role. For the same reason we would also welcome applications from minority groups.

We are looking for a team player, who is able to support our board to grow the charity over the next few years. Our aim is to break down barriers which prevent people accessing the arts – as well as enriching our community with our workshops, community events and gallery space. We are a passionate and dedicated team in need of support embedding new procedures, strategies and development plans to help the charity grow. We welcome hand-on trustees who wish to come and help at workshops and events, but this is not expected or a requirement of the role.

If you have a background in any of the following it would be very useful for our board: charity experience, marketing and communications, human resources, inclusion and diversity and/or finance. The Green House Bristol is looking for a new Trustee. As Trustee, you will play a crucial role in setting the strategic direction of the charity and ensuring good governance. 

Overview of the role 

3 in 20 girls and 1 in 20 boys will experience sexual violence before they turn 18. Yet, with access to the right help, children and their families can heal and recover. The Green House offers this lifeline, delivering the only specialist service to children, young people and families who have experienced sexual abuse living in Avon and Somerset. 

We are currently recruiting for a new Trustee to join our Trustee board. As a Trustee of The Green House, you will contribute to ensuring that the charity fulfils its mission, operates effectively, and remains accountable to survivors of child sexual abuse, and their families.

Please note that you will also be appointed as a Director of The Green House, reflecting our registration as both a charity and a Private Limited Company.

Duties of all Trustees 

• Prepare for and attend Board meetings, using your skills, expertise, and knowledge to contribute to discussions. 

• Participate in setting the charity’s strategic direction. Contribute to decision-making on key matters, including long-term planning, financial sustainability, and program development. 

• Provide support, learning and challenge to The Green House’s CEO. 

• Ensure The Green House acts in line with its governing document and complies with all relevant laws and regulations. 

• Ensure the charity lives its values (hope, creativity, and connection), delivering accountability to children who have experienced sexual abuse and their families. 

• Monitor operational progress against The Green House’s new strategy. 

• Ensure the charities financial and wider resources are being used effectively and treated with care. 

• Ensure all relevant policies and procedures are in place and are being implemented. 

• Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored, and controlled effectively. 

• Use independent judgment, acting legally and in good faith to promote and protect The Green House’s interests, to the exclusion of your own personal and/or any third-party interests. 

• Proactively represent The Green House, building the charity’s visibility and reputation. 

Terms of appointment 

Terms of office 

• Trustees are appointed for a three-year term of office, with renewal for two further terms to a maximum of three years. 

• This is a voluntary position, but all reasonable expenses are covered. 

Time commitment (Approximately 2-4 days a month) 

• Attend monthly Board meetings. These are typically held on a Thursday evening at 6pm. Most meetings are virtual although we do meet in-person on a quarterly basis. 

• Additional time is needed to take ownership of actions that arise from meetings (from supporting with recruitment and exit interviews where appropriate, to attending events on The Green House’s behalf). You will also need to be flexible in responding to emergent time-urgent issues when they arise. 

• We also ask Trustees to attend an initial induction day at The Green House, The Green House’s annual Festival of Activism against Child Sexual Abuse (1 day in early February) and spend a strategy day with the staff team (typically 1 day September). From time to time, depending on the nature of the Fundraising activity it may be necessary for Trustee’s to attend fundraising events/meetings with the CEO.

About our Outreach and Communications Assistant role We are looking for a committed Outreach and Communications Assistant Volunteer to join our Education, Training and Employment (ETE) area at IRMO. You will work closely with the ETE Programme Manager in a variety of outreach and communications activities, including the publicity and promotion of all ETE services and activities with external organisations and agencies and potential service users.

Main tasks and responsibilities of the role

● Inform service users of the different services and activities available to them and how to access them through different communication channels.

● Ensure effective referral and signposting pathways for IRMO’ service users according to their needs and circumstances.

● Participate in community coffee mornings as possible and assist the ETE Programme Manager with administrative tasks to organise them.

● Support with the design of flyers and posters and other relevant publicity resources for ETE services and activities as required.

● Implement communication plans with external organisations and agencies to promote ETE area services and activities as instructed.

We are Wales' most influential think tank. We are looking for up to four new people to join our team as several long-standing trustees stand down.

Trustees are responsible for all aspects of the Bevan Foundation’s business, although much of the day to day running is delegated to staff. Events and Campaigns at LAFF are seen as a way of engaging and increasing our supporter network. This is a dynamic role which will see you work with the Fundraising and Communications teams to recognise that support is far greater than just financial donations: we put a great value on our community’s time, communication with their personal networks, skills and ideas.

You will take on the responsibility of being a central point of contact for LAFF’s supporters when organizing their own fundraising events, as well as developing and delivering innovative events and campaigns for LAFF.

Your ability to think creatively to create disruptive communications strategies which will engage individuals and convert them into supporters will be crucial, as well as your research skills to help find new opportunities to hold events and campaigns.

Objectives of this Role

• Identify, plan and host fundraising events online and in person

Skills and Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in a related field (Communications, Event Management, International Relations) or currently enrolled

• 6 months of volunteering or work experience; PR/Communications/Event Planning experience highly desirable but not essential

• Advanced proficiency in either English or Spanish required, but high proficiency in both languages desirable

• Energetic with excellent interpersonal and networking skills

• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills

• Good time management and communication skills for working with other teams

Timeline

The strategic planning will commence immediately upon the start of the shared role. The goal is to attract a pool of at least 200 parents to book regular tutorials through the charity’s website within a timeframe of 6 months. However, the timeline may be subject to adjustments.

Work Schedule

This is an unpaid and voluntary role. Each candidate should not work more than 20 hours per week, but there is flexibility to accommodate the needs and schedules of team members.

Outcast Activists Forum (OAF) was established in January 2020 and incorporated in August 2020 as a grassroots network of activists and likeminded people with an aim to bring about social change through empowering the community in the fight for gender equality, youth inclusion on the issues of social justice, women empowerment, the fight against poverty, unemployment, teenage marriages a pregnancies, address human rights-related abuses, environmental protection and revive the need for child education and com drug abuse and alcoholism.

OAF slogan “Amplifying voices, Enriching communities” represents the voices of the people in the nationwide suburbs, communities with several cases of unwanted pregnancies in adolescents, early child marriages, poor health, poverty, child abuse, and human rights abuse, and unemployment, lack of career guidance, inadequate information and poor livelihood. Responsibilities
 

• They are looking for a VOLUNTEER Fundraising Associate You will play a key role in supporting our fundraising efforts to ensure the sustainability and growth of our organization. This is an exciting opportunity for someone enthusiastic about fundraising and eager to make a difference.

• Responsibilities: - Donor Engagement: Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, supporters, and potential donors through various channels such as email, phone calls, meetings, and events. - Grant Writing and Research: Identify potential grant opportunities, conduct research, and assist in the development and writing of grant proposals to secure funding for their programs and initiatives. - Fundraising Campaigns: Collaborate with the fundraising team to plan, execute, and evaluate fundraising campaigns and events, including online fundraisers, crowdfunding campaigns, and fundraising dinners. - Database Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records and fundraising databases, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality. - Communications: Assist in the creation of fundraising materials, including appeal letters, newsletters, and social media posts, to effectively communicate our mission and impact to donors and supporters. - Event Coordination: Provide logistical support for fundraising events, including venue selection, vendor coordination, volunteer management, and attendee outreach. - Donor Stewardship: Acknowledge and recognize donors for their contributions, including sending thank-you letters, organizing donor appreciation events, and providing regular updates on the impact of their support. - Collaboration: Work closely with the fundraising team and other team members within the organization to align fundraising strategies with overall organizational goals and priorities.

About DAISY

DAISY is a collection of disability and mental health focused arts organisations which promote and celebrate the great artistic work being created in Surrey. The organisation strives to develop the South East as the lead region in the UK for disability and deaf cultural activity, making Surrey a welcoming and inclusive place for all artists to practise. DAISY works with Disabled Artists and its member organisations to share skills and resources. We work with cultural partners across Surrey to put on exhibitions, create artworks and increase the awareness and status of Disability Arts.

The Role

In this voluntary role, you will be joining our five other Directors - Laura Jones (Co-Artistic Director of Stop Gap), Hayley Bull (CEO of Bloomin’ Arts) and Julie Hoyle (Artist) and Leah Zakss (Freelance Arts and Music Consultant), Cara Flowers (Artistic and Managing Director of DAISY) - to help DAISY to raise awareness of the incredible art being created in Surrey by Disabled Artists.

Having recently launched a number of new initiatives and under different management, DAISY is entering a new phase of its development and growth and as a Non-Executive Director, you will have the chance to make a real difference to the Disabled Artists we work with. We are looking for a number of people to join our board with, ideally, a background or interest in one or more of the following: finance, fundraising, organisational development, governance and the arts. DAISY is currently in the process of transforming from a Community Interest Company (CIC) with a board of Directors to becoming a registered charity (CIO). When this happens, the Directors will then become Trustees.

Potential profile:

● Our priority is to recruit someone with lived experience of a disability, in order to offer diverse perspectives and to represent the people we work with.

● Close connections with the County of Surrey or nearby.

● A passion for the Arts, ideally Disability Arts and/or Social Justice

● A clear understanding and alignment to our values of equality and inclusivity for all

● A big picture thinker with a collaborative approach who will understand the challenges of operating as part of a unified Board

As a Director of the DAISY board, you will be expected to meet every few months for an online meeting to discuss future decisions. Other tasks may be required as deemed appropriate but to date these have been fairly light-touch. In order to ensure we are the right fit for you, we ask that you attend at least one Directors meeting with a review before officially becoming a DAISY Director. We will endeavour to provide you with a welcome pack to ensure you have all the information you need to make that decision.

About EduSpots

EduSpots is a UK and Ghanaian registered organisation which connects, trains, and equips local volunteers to drive sustainable community-led change through education centres named ‘Spots’. Together, we are creating a movement of community-based educators. Since 2016, through working with over 300 local volunteers, we have supported nearly 50 communities in creating community-led education spaces (libraries) named ‘Spots’, with an aim to move them towards our ‘Dream Spot Model’.

We won the Tes International Award in 2018, the Big Give Supporters’ Choice Award in 2022 and were selected as a finalist for the Their World Innovation Prize in 2023.

Internship opportunity 

We are looking for highly independent and self-motivated interns who are keen to gain practical skills and understanding relating to education and international development, and provide wide-ranging support to our team in Ghana and the UK, to enable us to increase our impact in a period of growth. 

The internship will be remote for 3 months starting as soon as possible, with the opportunity of extending this period. The time is 8 hours / week but this can be spread out throughout the week. Due to limited organisational time, we need interns to be committed to the work, supoprting as needs emerge, and able to work independently. We will consider interns in any geographical location. 

You will gain huge insight into education and international development through learning and being inspired on a daily basis on WhatsApp by our active network of 250 volunteers in rural Ghana who are the main focus of our work and our reason for existence. 

Key areas of delivery 

We have three areas of internship offer currently:

1. Communciations Intern - working with our Head of Communications on a wide range of communications tasks. You should have strong writing and research skills, alongside beginner design and content creation abilities. 

2. Programmes Team Intern - working with our Education & Research Manager to support tasks across the programmes team. This is likely to include design work (using basic Canva), alongside wider proof-reading and research/evaluation work, based on emerging needs. 

3. Leadership Team Intern - working with our regional coordinator team and Head of Operations to support the leadership development of our local Catalysts - tasks are likely to involve design work, marking their monthly challenges, and offering administrative and proof reading support where needed. 

For all three roles, candidates should be highly felxible and be ready to develop basic Canva design skills if you don't have these skills already. You would join all team meetings and our in-house professional development programme. 

Personal specification 

We are looking for interns with the following:

• Strong communication skills - e.g. written and verbal in English 

• Strong IT skills - e.g. ability to use Microsoft Office, Google Drive, social media etc. 

• An ability to work highly independently with minimal support, with the proactivity to reach out to team members when necessary

• A genuine interest in learning about education and international development

• A team player, willing to listen to others and respond to feedback quickly.

• An ability to use Canva design software is desirable, or else a willingness to learn.

• A genuine passion for making a tangible impact on educational opportunity through this role. 

• You will likely have a degree in an area relating to education and/or international development. 

• A desire to be part of a supportive and passioante education community, with a specifc interest in community-led change. 

• Be willing to communicate via WhatsApp and use Google drive
