About the roles

The Gestalt Centre is a registered charity with a Board of Trustees and a Board of Directors. The Trustees are responsible for ensuring that the organisation carries out its purposes and for overall planning and good governance. The Directors (executive and non-executive) make decisions about strategy, the running of the organisation and oversee the work of the Psychotherapy faculty, the Counselling faculty and the management team.

Purpose of the role

Trustees are legally responsible for all aspects of the Charity, including:

• agreeing the purpose and strategy
• ensuring the Charity is financially viable
• making sure a charity does what it was set up to, which includes making decisions about how it is run

Operational matters are delegated to the CEO and the Executive.

We’re also seeking new Trustees who can strengthen our expertise in critical areas as we look to strengthen our Board to devise and deliver our ambitious plans. We are keen to hear from people with experience in one or more of the following areas:

We are looking for a new Treasurer who will be a strategic thinker with good knowledge of charity accounting and the Charity SORP, and can ensure sound financial management. You will bring commercial acumen to guide our financial strategy during a transformative period.

You will also oversee our financial governance, reserve investment, and risk management while contributing your broader strategic insights and experience across all aspects of our work.

Our projects focus on a combination of education, child protection and livelihood support to address the social, economic and structural issues that underpin today’s education crisis. About the Role:

We are in the process of implementing a fundraising CRM to efficiently manage our outreach activities. To support this project, we are seeking to recruit a Data Volunteer who can help us clean and migrate the historical fundraising data into the new database. This is an entry-level role, best suited for a candidate who is interested in developing a career in data. Data skills are high in demand so will suit someone keen on learning new data skills to enhance their CV. For the right candidate this will provide an opportunity to learn how not-for-profit organisations work and enable them an entry into the charity sector. 

Ideally, we are looking for someone with good Excel skills (any knowledge of additional data tools such as MS Access, Power Query, etc will be an advantage), and some understanding of data related process. Hands-on training will be provided to the right candidate. As the focus of this role will be on enhancing the quality of the data, we are seeking a highly organised person who can pay greatest attention to detail. As part of this role you will be working with our database project lead.

To succeed in this role, we need someone with: 

• Excellent eye for detail and a commitment to high standards 
• Interest in learning data skills and have good Excel skills 
• Good inter-personal skills and the ability to interact with the wider Street Child UK team 
• A passion for Street Child’s mission 

We are looking for volunteers who can work for a minimum of 3 days a week (minimum 1 day in the office) for a minimum of 3 months. Ideal for those who live in the Greater London area as we will be able to provide transport costs only up to £25.

Bounds Green Food Bank has been in existence since 2020, operating as an independent charity since September 2023.  Our Board of 5 Trustees seek to recruit additional people to add to our team.

We are particularly interested in people who have skills in the areas of fundraising, communication and organisational development – however, we also welcome applications from those with a genuine interest and the ability to contribute to our strategy and future direction.

Hours: 1-3 hours a week, to find around your schedule. Includes 2-hour monthly meetings (online).

Open since June 2020, we serve over 1,500 children and adults in the community. • As trustees, you must:

Person specification: 

• Understand and support the purpose of BGFB as a community led organisation whose primary aim is to prevent/relieve poverty.

• Either have lived experience, or understand the reasons for food poverty and why BGFB is an important asset to our community. 

• Can work collaboratively with others in a team, using their skills to make decisions in the best interests of BGFB, holding responsibility and accountability individually and jointly. 

• Can demonstrate awareness and understanding of the legal responsibilities of being a Trustee, and best practice in charity governance.

• Must be able to obtain a DBS, be able to attend required training and meetings (usually twice per month), and have not been disqualified to stand as a Trustee/Director.

Experience required: 

• We are particularly interested in people with expertise in fundraising and communication. However, we would also like to hear from anyone who has skills and experience they can use to help us achieve our strategic goals. The list below are possible areas but should not be considered as finite:

1. Community organising. 

2. Safeguarding/health and safety. 

3. Food distribution. 

4. Human resources/legal.

• Experience and knowledge of volunteer-led organisations would be helpful but is not essential.

Good Vibrations is a national arts organisation that changes lives through music. We work with some of the most vulnerable and hard to reach people in the UK, including in prisons, secure hospitals, and in the community. We are best known for using the Indonesian gamelan, a magnificent set of bronze gongs, xylophones and drums. We use communal music-making to support vulnerable people in challenging circumstances to develop transferable life and work skills and to forge fulfilling, constructive lives.

Providing a confidential non-judgemental listening ear to Residents and Staff. Supporting those wishing to develop their spiritual journey from a Christian perspective. The role will be based across one of our hostels in Watford, Borehamwood, Bishop's Stortford, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield or High Wycombe, 

Activities include:

• Proactively engaging with Residents and staff to build safe relationships and trust
• Offering a ‘listening ear’ to all and giving emotional support
• Sensitively discerning when to offer prayer and support from a Christian perspective, and when to use faith based language

City Harvest is London’s original surplus food redistribution charity, delivering free nutritious food to 350+ organisations. Due to the rising cost of living,  1 in 4 people face food poverty in London, with the use of foodbanks a ‘new normal’ for far too many.

City Harvest is a sustainable solution to food businesses and society, tackling food waste and food poverty. Rescuing Food, People and Planet. Every day, our fleet of vans rescues surplus food from retailers, manufacturers, markets and events, resulting in the reduction of food waste and greenhouse gas emissions. We currently deliver food for 15 million meals a year, that’s food for 41,000+ meals a day!

Ten years old, our roots are deep and far-reaching across London. First responders to Grenfell, emergency workers in the pandemic, City Harvest continues its mission to rescue to feed people in need across all London Boroughs.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and qualified CFO or Finance Director to join City Harvest as our new Finance, Audit & Risk Trustee. This is a critical board role at the heart of our organisation, ensuring that City Harvest has a sustainable financial outlook, solid operational governance and sound controls around risk. As a key member of the Board, you will work closely with the Chair, CEO and Head of Finance. Acting as a mentor to the Head of Finance, you will help ensure that Finance develops as a business partner to the various City Harvest teams and that KPIs are focused on the achievement of their strategic objectives.

You will bring strong financial and management accounting insight, ensuring sound financial planning and performance, operational excellence, and compliance with governance frameworks and regulations. You will also ensure an annual risk review is undertaken and will act as the Trustees’ liaison point with the Charity’s auditors and advise on any areas requiring improvement in the audit process.

This is an opportunity to apply your senior financial leadership experience to an organisation tackling some of today’s most pressing challenges.

Who we are looking for

An experienced and qualified CFO or Finance Director with a strong history in oversight of:

• Financial accounting
• Management accounting
• Systems & controls
• Audit
• Risk management

There are no sector specific requirements – though experience in an operational business (particularly logistics/supply chain) and/or experience in the charity or third sector would be desirable.

Meetings

• The Board holds in-person meetings – normally six per year, held in person in Central London (17:00 – 19:30)
• Chairing the Finance & Risk Committee (normally six per year)
• Liaising with the Head of Finance, Chair and CEO as appropriate to fulfil responsibilities.
• We are committed to covering travel expenses for our trustees

We’re looking for trustees

We’re looking to recruit dynamic, committed and motivated people with professional skills and experience who are as passionate as we are about empowering individuals to work through and beyond their experience of sexual abuse.

Specific qualifications are not necessarily required and we welcome applicants with lived experience. A genuine interest in learning about our charity and our services within the local community is essential.

These trustees will help to form a new board dedicated to supporting the charity and contributing to the effective and quality governance of Trust House. You will play an active role in developing the strategic direction of the charity and provide guidance to ensure the charity continues to support anyone affected by rape or sexual abuse in the Thames Valley area.

About Spires

Spires is an award-winning charity that has been working with homeless and disadvantaged people in Streatham, South London, since 1990.  Working with some of the most isolated and vulnerable in our society, we support over 900 men and women every year.

Our vision and aim is to be the best support that we can in helping people move from lives of distress, isolation and insecurity to a future of greater stability and hope. The majority of our clients are homeless or have insecure accommodation, with many also facing complex issues such as long-term unemployment, problems with poor mental and physical health, addiction and substance abuse, or they may even be imprisoned by sex work.

What will you be doing?

Trustees at Spires are responsible for overseeing the charity’s strategic direction and ensuring its long-term sustainability. Key responsibilities include:

• Strategic oversight: Help shape and support Spires’ evolving strategy
• Legal and regulatory compliance: Ensure adherence to governing documents, charity law, and relevant regulations
• Financial oversight: Together as a board, approve annual budgets, monitor financial performance, and support the Treasurer in maintaining financial health
• Resource management: Ensure that the charity’s resources are used effectively to meet its mission
• Support and challenge: Engage actively in board meetings, offering advice, support, and constructive challenge
• Ambassadorship: Promote Spires within your networks, helping raise its profile and attract support for its mission
• Uphold best practices: Ensure high standards of governance, transparency, and accountability throughout the organisation

This role is mainly home-based

The board meets six times a year, with an estimated time commitment of around 4 hours per month.
