We are looking for new Treasurer and Trustee to join our Board in October when our current Treasurer steps down. In particular, we are seeking a qualified management accountant who can provide insights and leadership to support the financial management and governance of the Trust. The Treasurer works in close co-operation with, and provides support and advice to, the Finance Director and the Chief Executive. Our Trustees have a key leadership role at Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, setting the direction of the organisation and help us to achieve our goals of creating wildlife-rich places and wildlife-rich lives.

Becoming a Trustee means taking on a voluntary role to support and guide a charitable organisation to achieve agreed vision and goals. Trustees are responsible for the overall governance of a charity. Yorkshire Wildlife Trust’s Trustees set our strategic direction and provide guidance, support and challenge to the Senior Leadership Team. They are passionate ambassadors for the charity’s work, influencing key partners and helping to secure funding.

Trustees also contribute through their own professional expertise and background as collegiate members of the team, to ensure the charity is positioned to deliver its strategic priorities. Our Trustees bring strategic vision, independent judgement and a willingness to commit to leading the Trust through challenges and opportunities.

Who We're Looking For: 

We are looking to recruit a Trustee with Legal expertise who is passionate about the work of School-Home Support and brings energy, commitment and leadership combined with a willingness to advocate for the work we do and the cause we serve. 

As a Legal Expert Trustee, You Will: 

• Contribute to setting goals, targets, and overall policy for the organisation

• Share your expertise and networks to support the development and growth of the charity. 

• Help ensure compliance with our legal obligations and the organisation’s core purpose. 

• Provide oversight of the budget to guarantee School-Home Support’s financial sustainability. 

• Ensure measures are in place for safeguarding for the children and families we support and the staff team

• Act as a champion and ambassador for School-Home Support, enhancing our reputation, representing us at key events, and supporting fundraising efforts.

We are looking for a Trustee with finance experience to help us improve our way of working as a Board.

About People First Forum

Our vision is a world where people with learning disabilities are treated as equals, living safe and happy lives.  Our Mission is to give people with learning disabilities the support and opportunities to live the lives they choose.

What will you be doing?

Our Board is exciting and special because it has a mixture of people with and without a learning disability. “Nothing about us without us”! Different people bring special gifts and skills.

You do not need to have worked in a Board or governance role, or with people with learning disabilities before – we will teach you everything you need to know and give you training.

Day to Day, our new Treasurer will advise and support the Board and the staff team in the following areas:

1. Budgets and Financial Reports 2. Financial Records and Practices 3. Financial Policies 4. Financial Health of the Charity 5. Working with Finance Staff and Accountants 6. Strategic Planning and Risk 7. External Auditors 8. Legal Financial Duties 9. Supporting the Board of Trustees

What are we looking for?

We are looking for people who are kind, respectful and dedicated to supporting our diverse board of Trustees.

You should be a finance professional. You should be good at explaining money matters clearly, especially to people who are not finance experts, including people with learning disabilities.
