Main Tasks:

We appreciate any volunteering help that you can offer YBTC and want to make sure that our

volunteers have a positive experience with us. We pledge to support you as much as we can.

We want to ensure that volunteering with us does not feel too daunting, so the exact tasks might

vary depending on your circumstances. However, some typical tasks may include:

· Support our regular wellbeing/peer support walks

· Welcome participants and help them feel comfortable, fostering a friendly and inclusive atmosphere

· Encourage conversations among participants, offering a listening ear

· Be attentive to the well-being of all participants during the walk

· Offer information on YBTC services

· Attending occasional training sessions or volunteer meetings organised by YBTC

We are looking for people who are:

· Basic physical fitness to complete the walks, awareness of the needs of participants with

different mobility/health conditions

Background

Founded in 2003 and originally named Andrea’s Gift and later Brain Tumour Research and Support

Across Yorkshire, Yorkshire’s Brain Tumour Charity (YBTC) is Yorkshire and Humber’s leading

brain tumour charity. Offering practical, financial and emotional support to both adult and child

brain tumour patients, together with their families.

We fund brain tumour research in Yorkshire; we hope this research, dedicated to identifying new

approaches to the discovery and treatment of brain tumours will improve outcomes for patients.

At YBTC we are a small team who are growing to meet the needs of those affected by a brain

tumour in Yorkshire. Around 15 new cases of primary brain tumours are diagnosed in the region

every week.

A charity  based in  Croydon, Surrey, London, UK is looking for volunteer Charity Team Assistants; to volunteer 30 unpaid hours per week. The Charity serves a multi ethnic community especially people from Black and ethnic minority backgrounds. 

Responsibilities:

• To assist GNDFuk's permanent instructors in finding and providing creative forms of engagement for both our youth and adult programmes.
• To assist in project and schedule planning including setting and clearing up 30 minutes before and after projects and events
• To assist in ensuring that activities are executed safely
• To assist in coordinating events and activities to encourage the objectives of GNDFuk

Person Specification:

• Someone enthusiastic and creative who is committed to working towards the achievements of the charities objectives.
• Knowledege of Black and ethnic minority tradition/culture is preferable however not essential.
• Experience is desirable.

This is a non-paid one year temporary position however accommodation and maintenance will be provided.

Main purpose of the role

To provide telephone friendship service to veterans (and their partners) in their own homes.

Key focus

• To provide telephone friendship and companionship which is appropriate, and person centred. You will need the use of your own telephone /mobile.
• The use of a quiet safe space so you can concentrate on the call and maintain confidentiality.
• Provide telephone support to alleviate loneliness and social isolation and help to build confidence.
• Report any concerns or problems to the volunteer coordinator immediately.
• To record information about the call on the telephone log and submit this monthly.
• Read and understand the information provided as part of the induction training.
• Understand and work to the Telephone Friendship Service guidelines, boundaries and expectations.
• Adhere to Royal Star & Garter confidentiality policy.
• To take care of own Health & Safety and that of others affected by your volunteering activities.
• Promote the reputation, culture and ethos of the charity as a quality provider of excellent care and customer service.

Time commitment

Minimum of 1 hour per week. There is no time limit on the length of service, but Telephone Friends are asked to make a commitment for a minimum of 12 months.

The Professional Development Programme with Quilombo UK runs over a period of 16 weeks, is UNPAID and requires a minimum of 12 hours commitment per week across Monday to Friday.

Background

First Step is a Charity based in the London Borough of Havering, working with families of children with special needs and/or disabilities. For more than 35 years, we have supported in excess of 1,500 families and their children.

Families are referred or self-refer to us at a moment of crisis or uncertainty, normally pre-diagnosis, where they have concerns about their child.  We provide a range of family-centric services tailored to each family’s and child’s needs.

During our history we’ve had highs and lows, including overcoming a challenging time following the withdrawal of funding from the Local Authority in 2017 as part of their own austerity cuts.  Despite this, we’ve managed to sustain the charity through increased fundraising.

Our current Board has more than 80 years of experience, and over the next couple of years we’re looking to add some new and dynamic Trustees to strengthen the team and bring refreshed critical and creative thinking to our Charity.

RollaDome All Skate is looking for a passionate and detail-oriented Events Logistics Officer (Volunteer) to assist in sourcing venues for our skating clubs, classes, and events. This volunteer position is a fantastic opportunity for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in event logistics, venue management, and the expansion of community-driven programs. You will play a key role in ensuring the successful organization of events that contribute to RollaDome’s mission to bring skating to local communities. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Venue Sourcing: Research and identify venues across the UK that can be used for RollaDome’s skating clubs, classes, and events. Ensure that venues are accessible, affordable, and meet the needs of our participants. 

• Permanent Home Search: Assist in sourcing and evaluating potential permanent locations for RollaDome, ensuring they align with the long-term goals of the organization. 

• Vendor and Venue Relations: Build and maintain relationships with venue managers, landlords, and relevant stakeholders. Negotiate favourable terms for venue rentals and partnerships. 

• Venue Suitability Assessment: Evaluate potential venues for their suitability in terms of size, location, cost, accessibility, and other factors critical to the success of RollaDome’s programs. 

• Logistical Planning: Coordinate the logistical needs for clubs and classes, including setting up and maintaining schedules, organizing transportation, and ensuring that all equipment and materials are available at each venue. 

• Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all venues meet health and safety regulations and are compliant with the necessary legal and operational requirements. 

• Venue Database Management: Create and manage a database of potential venues and contacts for current and future use. 

• Collaboration: Work closely with the program managers, event planners, and other team members to ensure that venues meet program needs and contribute to the success of events. 

• Budget Management: Assist in managing the venue budget, ensuring that all bookings are cost-effective and within the organization’s financial capacity. 

• Reporting: Provide regular updates and reports on venue searches, negotiations, and bookings to the management team. 

Skills & Qualifications 

• Strong research and organizational skills, with an ability to find and assess potential venues across the UK. 

• Excellent negotiation and communication skills to secure favourable venue contracts. 

• Strong attention to detail in managing logistics, ensuring smooth coordination for events and programs.

Octavia works with people affected by unemployment, ill health, social isolation or low income to connect them with opportunities for positive personal change. Our vision is to build stronger, happier and healthier communities in central and west London to help create an enriched life where we live. Please help us to do this by volunteering to befriend a member of the local community, who is isolated and vulnerable, in Westminster or Kensington and Chelsea.
