The Role

We are seeking a creative and committed Graphic Designer to join our volunteer team. This role is central to shaping the visual identity of Ranger Cadets, producing designs that inspire pride, belonging, and community impact.

As a Graphic Designer, you will:

• Create badges for cadet uniforms that embody dignity and achievement.

• Design posters, flyers, and social media posts to promote Ranger Cadets.

• Develop infographics and motion graphics to communicate our mission and programmes.

• Produce print and digital assets that expand our reach and strengthen our brand.

• Collaborate with leadership and volunteers to ensure designs are accurate, vibrant, and emotionally resonant.

Providing a confidential non-judgemental listening ear to Residents and Staff. Supporting those wishing to develop their spiritual journey from a Christian perspective. The role will be based across one of our hostels in Watford, Borehamwood, Bishop's Stortford, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield or High Wycombe, 

Activities include:

• Proactively engaging with Residents and staff to build safe relationships and trust
• Offering a ‘listening ear’ to all and giving emotional support
• Sensitively discerning when to offer prayer and support from a Christian perspective, and when to use faith based language
• Be inclusive and welcoming to people of all religious faiths and none, referring people to other faith communities as appropriate
• Working alongside support staff, volunteers & local agencies
• Maintaining records of support and feeding back concerns about Resident welfare to Staff/Line Manager.
• Attend regular volunteer team meetings
• Being proactive in seeking spiritual and emotional support for your own benefit as this is a challenging role.

Additional activities could include:

• Facilitating group work for example: Retreat Programme, Bible Study, prayer or Mental Health Support.

East London Waterworks Park is a volunteer-led charity that has won a 2024 New London Architecture award and raised £2m towards buying land from the Department for Education to transform the 14-acre Thames Water Depot on Lea Bridge Road on the border of Waltham Forest and Hackney, into a new biodiverse park with natural swimming ponds, forest schools and community spaces. 

We are creating a fundraising strategy for our next phase of work: an exciting programme of community projects. If you have experience of planning or running fundraising campaigns, we would love to hear from you. Our community-led strategic process, as well as all of our work, is open for everyone to participate in.

The Fundraising Circle currently meets fortnightly on a Thursday evening on Google Meet and spends voluntary time outside of the meeting completing agreed tasks remotely. We understand that people may not have a lot of time to give, so we want to find volunteers who could give us one-off or ongoing strategic advice and support.

If you have experience in writing grants and funding applications, corporate fundraising, philanthropy, or any other aspect of fundraising, it would be great to hear from you.

Our County Representatives (CR) will support our Fundraising Team by being the public face of Combat Stress in their local county, and will help build support from individuals and groups by raising awareness and funds. Income generation is key to our continued success and the support of volunteers enables us to raise more funds to support former servicemen and women, so that when a veteran is having a tough time, we’re there to help tackle the past and to help them take on the future.

Hours:The role is flexible. You can give as much or as little time as you are able. However, we do ask you ideally commit enough time to build meaningful awareness and support on your base.

Our Linked Minds Befriending Project supports people who are socially isolated in Ealing and Hounslow due to a diagnosed mental health problem.

This is an opportunity to become a Befriender.

On successful completion of specialist mental health training, the Befriender is matched with someone suitable, by a Co-ordinator who then acts as a (non-clinical) supervisor for the befriending period, which is limited to a year.

Befriender, client and supervisor make a plan together with a goal to work towards, and the Befriender makes a weekly 1-2 hour visit to the client's home, where they might stay in and chat over a cup of tea, go out for a walk together, visit a café or undertake a local activity. 

These visits make such a difference for the client, increasing their confidence and helping them explore and work towards getting a job, joining a club, meeting other people or whatever their goal may be.

The aim is that, by the end of the year, clients feel better about themselves, more valued, resilient, empowered, more linked to their community and better equipped for their journeys in recovery.

But volunteering with BEfriend not only enriches the lives of those who are isolated, it also offers immense personal rewards.

Our Young Ambassadors programme, for 18 – 25 year olds, is built on diversity. We welcome people living with low and high grade tumours, carers supporting loved ones, and those who have cared for someone who has sadly passed away. Partners and siblings are also welcome. As a Young Ambassador, you’ll play a big role in representing The Charity and standing up for young people affected by brain tumours. This two-year programme is open to 18-25 year olds, and gives you the chance to influence real decisions, be a critical friend, and make sure the voices of our community are heard loud and clear.

You’ll help shape the future of brain tumour care and research — all while meeting new friends, growing your confidence, and gaining skills that look great on a CV and feel good in your heart.

• Use your lived experience to represent others in the brain tumour community and help shape the work we do — both inside the Charity and out in the wider world.

• Speak up on bigger platforms – From press interviews to conferences, media pieces, or blog posts, you’ll have opportunities to share your experiences publicly and help shine a light on brain tumours and the work of the Charity. 

• Shape services that work for young people – Be part of developing and improving the support we offer, including our Young Adult service, making sure our services are practical, inclusive, and focused on real needs. 

In addition to all of this, we are very open to hearing your ideas about how you would like to contribute and get involved.

Practical considerations

This is a voluntary role with a term of up to two years, though we understand circumstances may change and you may need to step away earlier. 

• Induction: You’ll start with a 2-day induction on Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th April  at our office in Fleet, Hampshire

• In-person meetings: Two further in person events will take place during the two-year programme. These have previously included training days and residential.  

• Online meetings: We’ll meet monthly on Microsoft Teams during a weekday evening 

• Other opportunities: You can choose activities that fit your interests, availability, and preferences. These will be shared via Volunteero, our volunteer app, which all Involvement Champions use. Opportunities may take place on both weekdays and weekends.

Please note, for in-person meetings, all travel, accommodation, and meal expenses are covered by The Charity.  Find out more in our Volunteer Expenses Policy. We suggest a time commitment of around 1–2 hours per week, but this is flexible. You’ll receive training, regular updates, and ongoing support to help you feel confident in your role.

We are looking for volunteers who can spend time with our clients  in and around Central London.  Our current needs are in Barnet and possibly Stockwell.  Meetings are  regular over a period of 6 months; weekly or fortnightly, although most ScotsCare volunteers stay involved for much longer but only because they enjoy what they do! 

Befriending is a simple way to make a positive difference to someone who is lonely or socially isolated and your gift of time and regular companionship will give them, and you, something to look forward to. As one of our volunteers once told us, “this is an easy, very meaningful way to help someone and is immensely rewarding and fun!”  

Your meetings could be in the local community, having a chat in a coffee shop, visiting places of interest, or in our client’s home.Our clients are older Scot living in London who simply want to do the activities that most of us take for granted.

We provide training before you start, ongoing support once you are matched, out of pocket expenses, references, social events and newsletters to keep you informed.

Our mission is to confront childhood trauma, intergenerational trauma, and systemic injustices — and help people return to their true selves through community, knowledge, and love.

We are now expanding our team and looking for a Corporate Entertainer & Culture Animator — a warm, creative spirit who will bring joy, connection, and positive energy to our remote community.

This is a unique role and may be the first of its kind in the UK charity/CIC space.

About The Role

We are looking for someone who naturally lights up a room — even a virtual one.

Your purpose is to help keep our volunteers, creatives, future ambassadors, and leadership team motivated, connected, and full of joy while we build something historic together.
Laughter is medicine — and you will be one of the healers.

You will bring creativity, humour, and fun to our organisation through:

• Games & icebreakers at meetings
• WhatsApp riddles, jokes, challenges & positive energy
• Weekly/monthly fun activities
• Virtual team bonding sessions
• Celebrations, awards & cultural themes
• Future in-person events, trips & gatherings

This role is about building joyful company culture for a mission that deals with serious topics — and reminding all of us that healing also includes play, community, and connection.

Your Role as a Mentor

As a mentor, you will hold weekly one-on-one sessions of 1-3 hours for the duration of 12 months. You will help build confidence, resilience, and help your mentee manage feelings through a series of fun experiences and activities. Whether you’re playing games or discussing goals, you’ll be making a difference in a child’s life by developing the tools for a positive future.
