About the Role

This voluntary leadership position plays a key role in Project Yananai’s Legal Compliance and Safety Team. Our Van Driver’s mates are out and about supporting drivers with delivering and collecting stock throughout the local area. They play a key part in getting donations to and from shops. This role does require the ability to lift heavy items. 

• Volunteering in a leadership role

Our volunteer supervisors help with overseeing the running of our shop and creating a fantastic environment for our customers. You may be involved with coordinating and supporting other volunteers, operating computer systems, and being a key point of contact for the shop.

We welcome applications from people with a wide range of skills and experiences. You don’t need to have volunteered or worked in a shop before as full training will be provided. We usually hold board meetings online, but this is open to change.

COMMITMENT: 2 – 3 hours per month. We hold one annual away day we’d expect the board to attend.

Our Board meets every quarter for 2 hours. There is expected support between meetings. Our terms are capped at 3 years with potential for renewal for one additional term.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Contribute to good governance and strategic decision-making, ensuring the Board fulfils its responsibilities in line with our constitution, governance framework, and applicable legislation.

• Provide strategic leadership on fundraising and income generation, helping to shape Connect: North Korea’s strategy and approach to sustainable growth.

Role: Education Coordinator / Tutor

Role Overview

You will deliver engaging alternative education and life-skills sessions for children and young people who need additional support. This is a hands-on role where your creativity, compassion, and commitment can truly change lives.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 and group sessions (education, wellbeing, life-skills)

• Prepare session plans and teaching materials

• Support children’s learning, confidence and emotional development

• Maintain attendance records and contribute to feedback reports

• Build positive relationships with children, families, and schools

• Support evaluation and planning of programmes

Person Specification

Essential:

• Experience in tutoring, teaching, mentoring or youth support

• Patient, creative, and compassionate

• Ability to adapt teaching to different learning needs

• Strong safeguarding awareness (training provided)

Desirable:

• Experience with SEN, SEMH or behavioural support

• Teaching qualification or youth work background
