About the Role

We are seeking a volunteer Head of Communications who will:

• Lead the creation of the Foundation’s communications strategy, including brand identity, messaging, and tone.

• Oversee public engagement across digital platforms, press, publications, and community outreach.

• Develop compelling narratives that bring classical beauty to contemporary audiences.

• Support the promotion of exhibitions, events, educational programmes, and fundraising initiatives.

Action Tutoring is a national education charity that offers free maths and English tutoring to pupils facing disadvantage. 

By volunteering as a tutor at a local school or online, you'll be supporting children to build their confidence and help ensure they leave school with the grades needed to build a bright future.

What will I be doing?

• Tutoring 1-3 pupils in Year 5 or 6, or Year 7, 10 or 11.

• Commit to one hour a week, for up to 20 weeks. You choose the day and time to sign up to.

• Use our tutor workbooks to guide your pupils through activities that will boost their confidence and grades.

Role Description

The Press/Media Manager will work closely with the Communication Officer to lead on the Pagan Federation's media strategy. You will act as a primary point of contact for journalists, broadcasters, and media outlets working to promote positive coverage of Paganism and to respond appropriately to media interest, engaging in both proactive and reactive.

You will develop and oversee press strategies, prepare statements and press releases, brief spokespersons, and assist the organisation in sensitive communications where required. As this is a council-level role within the Pagan Federation you will be expected to provide regular reports to the Communications Officer and the Council of the Pagan Federation.

This is a voluntary role, and volunteers are expected to work remotely. We have volunteers working across England and Wales. Some travel may be necessary, reasonable expenses will be covered in line with our expenses policy.

Qualifications

• At least two years experience in the field of Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or similar. (Essential)

• Collaborate closely with the Social Media Director, Campaign Managers, Analysts, and Automators to align content with strategy, insight, and distribution.
• Contribute creative ideas, concepts, and improvements, not just output, supporting experimentation and continuous improvement.

Social Media & Content Volunteer

LaLa Speaks Foundation is seeking a Social Media & Content Volunteer to help grow visibility for a rising brain health awareness movement. Created in honor of Jacqueline “LaLa” Rhone, our nonprofit is dedicated to brain aneurysm awareness, education, and advocacy.

This volunteer will support digital storytelling and campaign visibility for our flagship awareness experience, Silent Sounds, Loud Impact, along with key public awareness moments tied to brain health, advocacy, and community engagement.

Responsibilities may include:

Without the passionate and committed teams of volunteers across Cats Protection we wouldn’t be able to help the thousands of cats and kittens each year that rely on us for help. Life in a rescue environment is never ideal for any cat compared to a loving home. Our cat adoption team leaders support cat homing and as part of this they may lead a team of volunteer home visitors who collectively play an important part in matching our feline friends with their new families. • Acting as the main point of contact within the team for cat adoption enquiries via email/telephone and social media

• Following up on any post-adoption queries
• Play an active part in the volunteer committee, being part of the team leading on cat adoption information and updates

Tell My Truth and Shame the Devil C.I.C. is seeking a pioneering Open-Source Platform Engineer to join our founding volunteer team. This role is central to building and maintaining the digital infrastructure that will power our survivor-led, community-owned membership ecosystem for 2026 and beyond. You will be directly shaping the systems that enable vulnerable and marginalised communities to access resources, engage safely and participate in transformative personal development.

Purpose of the role:

The Volunteer Open-Source Platform Engineer contributes to the development, maintenance and improvement of open-source software platforms that support the organisation’s mission. This role involves collaborating with developers, contributors and stakeholders to build scalable, reliable and efficient solutions while ensuring code quality, security and accessibility.

About the Role:

As our Open-Source Platform Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain the core technology stack for our membership platform, ensuring it is secure, scalable, and aligned with open-source principles. You will work closely with the Membership Director, Technical Systems Liaison, and other team members to integrate community-facing tools, data systems, and collaborative features that support our anti-capitalist, values-led mission. This is a hands-on, impact-driven role where your technical expertise directly enables social change.

Experience Qualification and Requirements

Essential Technical Competencies:

• Experience designing, integrating and maintaining APIs, as well as managing secure authentication and data practices.
• Familiarity with cloud-hosted and on-premises system environments, including deployment and maintenance.
• Proven experience in open-source development, software engineering or systems architecture.
• Ability to clearly document technical processes, system workflows and platform architecture.
• Skilled at communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Contributing to open-source projects or collaborative software development initiatives.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities to debug code, optimise performance and implement improvements.

Desirable / Can Be Developed:

• Basic understanding of open-source software principles and collaborative development practices. 
• Familiarity with at least one programming or scripting language (e.g. Python, JavaScript, Bash or similar).
• Developing knowledge of system reliability, security best practices and performance monitoring.
• A problem-solving mindset, curiosity and enthusiasm for learning new tools and technologies.

Main Responsibilities/ Key Duties

• Develop, implement and maintain the open-source membership platform and associated tools to support community engagement and organisational objectives.
• Build scalable, secure and accessible systems that facilitate user registration, content management and interactive community features.
• Build robust content management systems (CMS) to enable efficient creation, organisation, publishing and retrieval of digital content for community members and volunteers.
• Integrate third-party tools, APIs and plug-ins to extend platform functionality in alignment with organisational goals and requirements.
• Collaborate with technical and non-technical team members to understand community and organisational needs, translating them into functional and user-friendly systems.
• Provide technical guidance and insights to inform strategic decisions around system architecture, integrations, platform design and development priorities.
• Monitor platform performance and troubleshoot issues, proactively identifying and resolving technical problems to ensure smooth operation.
• Ensure documentation supports compliance and best practices, including data protection, accessibility standards and organisational policies.
• Use documentation as a tool for continuous improvement, identifying gaps, optimising workflows and refining platform usability based on feedback.
• Document technical processes, system architecture and user guides to maintain organisational knowledge, support future development and assist team onboarding.
• Contribute to the ongoing strategy for digital systems development and platform innovation, suggesting improvements, new features and best practices for long-term sustainability.

Age UK Cheshire's Sharing Time Reconnect Befriending service strives to reduce loneliness and isolation by matching our volunteers with older people via a meaningful befriending relationship.

Please note: You must be located within Cheshire to apply for this volunteering role.

What will you be doing?

You will be calling a lonely older person for a chat with the aim of developing a long term, meaningful befriending relationship which is positive for both parties. You will not only prevent an older person from feeling lonely and isolated, you will also hear amazing stories and share meaningful moments. 

How would you be supported in this role?

Our volunteers receive an initial induction into the work and policies of our charity and then specific training on befriending and safeguarding. You will be part of a caring and experienced team and have the support of a dedicated service coordinator. 

Why do we need volunteers in this role?

Loneliness among older people is a growing crisis. By volunteering with Age UK Cheshire’s Sharing Time project, you will offer more than a regular telephone call – you will offer a lifeline to older people in your community. 

Befriending phone calls usually last around 30 minutes. They are typically weekly but can be flexible depending on the individual you are supporting and their circumstances. They continue indefinitely or until one party’s circumstances change.

Volunteer with Older People - Elders Programme

Location: Battersea, London

Organisation: Katherine Low Settlement (KLS)

Katherine Low Settlement is a community charity in Battersea that has been supporting local people since 1924. Our Elders Programme brings older people together every week through social activities, shared meals and gentle exercise. For many of our members, these sessions are the highlight of their week. The volunteers who show up and make them feel welcome are the reason they keep coming back.

We're looking for warm, reliable people to join us across a range of roles. You don't need experience or qualifications, just patience, a friendly face and a genuine enjoyment of spending time with older adults.

Choose a role that suits you

Lunch Club Volunteer - Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays, 11:00am to 2:00pm
Welcome members, chat with them on the minibus journey to and from KLS, help serve food and support with tidying up. You'll also sit down to eat lunch with members, which is often the highlight of the day.

Minibus Support Volunteer - Tuesdays, 9:00 to 10:45am
Travel with members on the minibus to and from KLS, making sure everyone feels safe, comfortable and looked after on the journey in.

Chair Based Exercise Assistant - Mondays, 1:30 to 4:00pm
Support older people to stay active and connected through gentle weekly exercise. You'll help set up, welcome members, offer encouragement during the session and provide a bit of extra one-to-one support where needed.

Digital Champion (Tech Beginners) - Thursdays, 11:00am to 12:30pm
Help older people take their first steps with technology. This structured weekly class covers the basics, including smartphones, sending messages and getting online safely. You'll support the group, answer questions and keep things relaxed and encouraging.

Digital Champion (Tech Together) - Tuesdays, 1:30 to 3:30pm
Support older people in a friendly weekly drop-in where members get help with their own devices or use our tablets and Chromebooks. You'll listen to what each person needs, answer questions and help them build confidence at their own pace.

Digital Champion (Tech Your Time) - Thursdays, 1:30 to 3:00pm
Help older people develop their digital skills further in a structured intermediate session. You'll support members as they build on the basics, practise everyday tasks and grow in confidence and independence online.

What we're looking for

- Friendly, patient people who enjoy spending time with older adults
- No experience needed, just a positive attitude and willingness to show up
- A commitment of one session per week for at least six months
