Each year, around 25,000 young people take part in Outward Bound programmes across the UK, delivered through partnerships with schools, youth groups, and employers. The Outward Bound Trust is now delivering its 2030 Strategy, which sets out an ambitious plan to grow reach, strengthen partnerships, and invest in its six heritage outdoor centres.
Reporting to the CEO, you’ll directly manage four experienced team heads and oversee a high-performing team of 18 who generate bursary, unrestricted, and capital income. The role sits on the Senior Management Team, working closely with colleagues across the charity to connect fundraising with programme delivery, marketing, and business development, ensuring shared priorities and greater collective impact. You’ll also play a key role in the Fundraising and Marcomms Steering Group, ensuring effective working between fundraising and external engagement.
This is a broad, strategic role combining leadership, direction, and hands-on relationship management at one of the UK’s most respected youth charities. As Director of Fundraising, you will:
- Lead and support a multi-disciplinary fundraising function spanning major donors, corporate partnerships, legacies, trusts and foundations, and events

DIRECTORATE PURPOSE
The Fundraising, Marketing and Communications directorate is responsible for:
• Income generation across trusts and foundations, corporates, major donors, community fundraising, public donations, and legacies, alongside relationships with commissioners and public sector funders.

Auditory Verbal UK (AVUK) is an award-winning charity that wants all deaf children to have the same opportunities in life as their hearing peers. It supports deaf babies and children to learn to listen and speak with Auditory Verbal therapy and provides internationally accredited training in Auditory Verbal practice for health and education professionals. AVUK works to raise expectations and outcomes for deaf children and increase access to, as well as awareness and understanding of, Auditory Verbal therapy, with a clear mission to enable every family with a deaf child the opportunity to access Auditory Verbal therapy through publicly funded services close to where they live.
Overview
Working with the Head of Fundraising, you will play a key role in securing income from corporate partners and major donors to support AVUK’s bold 10-year plan. These partnerships are central to our long-term strategy to transform the landscape of Auditory Verbal provision, ensuring that every family who wants their child to learn to listen and talk can access a publicly funded Auditory Verbal programme in their local area.
This role requires experience in relationship fundraising, ideally working with businesses and/or major donors, and a strong ability to build rapport and trust. You’ll be an effective communicator and collaborator, confident in supporting income generation activities that align and elevate AVUK’s goals.
With experience of securing five to six-figure gifts, you’ll use your commercial acumen to identify and nurture your pipeline and partnerships, contributing to our annual fundraising target of £1.5m and setting the foundations for growth to £2m+ in future years.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Corporate partnerships strategy
- With support and guidance from the Head of Fundraising, lead the development and delivery of AVUK’s corporate partnerships strategy in support of our overall fundraising goals.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities at a five and six figure value, unlocking new opportunities that contribute to a £130k partnerships budget this year.
Business development & income generation
- Work closely with your fundraising and comms colleagues to create compelling proposals and pitches that resonate with corporate and major donor audiences and help you to secure new gifts / partnerships.
- Proactively grow and maintain a strong funding pipeline, creating new prospects for our priority funding areas through quality research, strategic outreach and developing engagement opportunities.
Relationship management & external engagement

- Lead the planning and delivery of the Sounds of Success event (November 2026), as a key moment in our stewardship and engagement calendar.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic
- Lead on the development and delivery of CFT’s corporate fundraising strategy, setting income targets and KPIs with the Director of Development
- Create compelling and innovative partnership opportunities for corporate supporters

Fundraising & Relationship Building
- Meet the annual Corporate Development target, currently c£300,000, along with the support of the Development Officer

Job Description
Purpose:
- Overall responsibility for the delivery of Chance to Shine’s events, ensuring each event is executed to the highest standard.
- To lead the planning, budgeting, sales and delivery of fundraising events at Chance to Shine ensuring each event maximises income and profit for the charity.
- To develop an events strategy to maximise income from fundraising challenge events.
- To build positive relationships with charity VIPs and ambassadors, ensuring they are fully briefed at each event.

Key Responsibilities
Event Management
- Project management of a full programme of events including cultivation dinners, annual awards receptions, and major fundraising events.
- Lead on selling Chance to Shine events to new and existing supporters, maximising income through ticket/table sales, auction and raffle income, and sponsorships.
Event Planning
- Lead on the concept and design of new fundraising events.
- To develop and regularly review an organisational events strategy focused on maximising income and return on investment for the charity.
· To develop annual budgets, forecasts and plans for all event income to feed into the wider fundraising budget.
· To have specific responsibility for the events budget within Chance to Shine Enterprises (CTSE), the trading subsidiary.
Relationship Management
- Broaden supporter networks and build a community of event supporters through networking, introductions, and working with the wider fundraising team to cross sell events and maximise income.
- Build relationships with existing and new event partners including; charity ambassadors and event hosts, venues, auctioneers, auction/raffle supporters, silent auction partners, and value-in-kind partners/sponsors.

Beneficiary and challenge events
- To build relationships with high value event partners and supporters who are raising funds on behalf of Chance to Shine, providing support as needed.

About Quest for Learning
Quest for Learning is an education charity on a mission to close the gap for primary school children in Oxfordshire who are falling behind - often due to complex and compounding disadvantage. Many of the children we support are growing up in poverty, with limited access to books, low parental literacy, and challenging home environments. Some face health inequalities, live in areas affected by crime, or have recently arrived in the UK as refugees or asylum seekers.

Role Purpose
This is a hands-on and outward-facing role for a confident, capable fundraiser ready to lead Quest for Learning’s income generation efforts. As our sole dedicated fundraiser, you’ll take ownership of securing income across a broad mix of streams - including trusts and foundations, community fundraising, individual giving, and corporate partnerships.

About Sebby’s Corner
Sebby’s Corner is a Barnet-based charity supporting vulnerable families and children living in poverty across London and the South East. We support thousands of families every year with clothing, nappies, formula, school uniforms, birthday gifts and more. In 2024–25, we supported almost 4,000 children and over 2,300 parents, distributing £482,993 worth of essentials.
Sebby’s Corner serves families in crisis, many of whom are experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic abuse, seeking asylum, or living in poverty. Referrals are made by frontline professionals including social workers, midwives, health visitors, and family support workers so we can ensure we are reaching the most vulnerable.
We believe by meeting immediate material needs, we can help stabilise families, reduce stress, and improve the wellbeing of both parents and children. We believe it is impossible to break free from debt, apply for work, or rebuild your life when you don’t know where your baby’s next nappy is coming from and that’s where our support begins.
About the Role
We are looking for a confident and strategic fundraiser with proven experience in major donor and corporate fundraising. You will lead our income generation, helping us to raise over £400,000 every year, with a focus on building high-value, long-term partnerships with individuals and companies. You will also oversee community fundraising, events and supporter engagement, ensuring every donor feels valued and connected to our mission.

Key Responsibilities
MAJOR DONORS

Take the lead in cultivating, stewarding, and retaining high-value individual donors, ensuring they feel personally connected to Sebby’s Corner and the impact of their support.

Grow and manage our Patronage Programme, developing tailored stewardship plans and recognition opportunities for different giving levels.

Work closely with the CEO and trustees to leverage their networks and open doors to new prospects, building a strong pipeline of high-value supporters.

Host and attend events, briefings, and meetings with donors to deepen relationships and encourage long-term commitment.
CORPORATE PARTNERSHIPS

Develop and deliver a proactive strategy to secure Charity of the Year partnerships, sponsorships, corporate volunteering, in-kind donations, and payroll giving schemes.

Build and nurture long-term relationships with local and national businesses, ensuring they are engaged with Sebby’s Corner’s mission and receive excellent stewardship.

Create engaging fundraising opportunities for companies, such as hub-based volunteering, team packathons, and staff fundraising challenges.

Work with the Head of Operations and service teams to align corporate partnerships with organisational needs, ensuring mutual benefit and maximum impact.
INDIVIDUAL GIVING & CAMPAIGNS

Work alongside the CEO to lead Sebby’s Corner’s annual Charity Extra appeal, including developing campaign messaging, recruiting and motivating Champions, and ensuring the appeal delivers maximum income and visibility.

Lead on Sebby’s Corner’s own fundraising events, working with staff, volunteers, and suppliers to deliver high-quality and financially successful events.

Lead the growth of regular giving and one-off donations, ensuring donors receive timely, personalised stewardship.

Design and deliver seasonal appeals (e.g. School Uniform, Christmas, Father’s Day), setting clear targets and analysing results to inform future campaigns.

Oversee the development of compelling supporter communications, including newsletters, impact stories, and social media content, to inspire donors and demonstrate transparency.
LEADERSHIP & STRATEGY

Develop and implement a clear fundraising strategy to diversify income streams and grow sustainable, high-value support.

Line-manage the Volunteer & Community Lead, providing guidance and support across their portfolio, which includes coordinating hub volunteers, managing challenge events (e.g. London Marathon), and supporting community groups and fundraisers.

Contribute actively to the leadership of Sebby’s Corner, working collaboratively with the CEO and Head of Operations to shape strategy and ensure fundraising is integrated across the organisation.

Use Salesforce to manage supporter data, monitor campaign performance, and produce accurate, timely reports for the CEO and trustees.

Essential

Proven success in securing and stewarding high-value income (e.g. major donors, corporates, or significant partnerships)

Experience planning and delivering successful fundraising campaigns and/or events with clear outcomes

Strong relationship-building and influencing skills, confident engaging with high-net-worth individuals, trustees, and senior business leaders

Experience line-managing staff, interns, or volunteers

What We Offer
Salary & Pension
The salary range for this role is £42,000 - £48,000 FTE per annum (gross), dependent on experience and pro-rated if you work part-time. If eligible to join the pension scheme, we will match your contributions by 5%.
Annual Leave
You will be entitled to 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays (pro-rated for part-time roles). We usually close between Christmas and New Year without this time coming off your annual leave allowance.
