Charity Overview: Black Country Foodbank is a Christian charity that works within the boroughs of Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall, and Wolverhampton supporting a network of Foodbanks provide emergency food and toiletry parcels to those in crisis. As we continue to expand and innovate, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team in a new role as Deputy CEO/Operations Manager.
BCFB provided over half a million meals in 2023 and continues to address deepening demand. Through a network of Foodbanks our volunteers serve a wide demographic of people who have been affected by food poverty.
BCFB hope to build on the valuable work that began in 2006 and develop sustainable food projects whilst also working with people to become financially resilient. We look forward to a time when food charities are no longer part of our society.
Food poverty is complex with initiatives and ideas evolving at a pace. BCFB is at a pivotal place in its development with opportunities for growth. We need a leader to work closely with the CEO to continue and support the existing model of foodbanks and food projects and have the drive and passion to explore and manage new initiatives.

Position Overview: The Deputy CEO/Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations and strategic planning of the charity. The successful candidate will oversee the operational aspects of the charity and functions to ensure efficiency, while also actively expanding the services across the boroughs with new initiatives. This role will enable the charity to break new ground, expand wrap around services whilst expanding and developing our core - distribution of food and toiletries to those who are in crisis.
This is an exciting opportunity to become immersed in the everyday activities of the charity, whilst playing an integral role in the strategic planning and implementation of new initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership to all, right across the charity, securing the confidence and trust of others, building relationships and a deep understanding of all the stakeholders. Able to manage the business of the charity and deputise for the CEO.
2. Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of staff and volunteers. Leading on volunteer recruitment, staff and volunteer appraisals/training and general well-being. Ensuring staff and volunteer policies and procedures are kept up to date, reviewed and developed according to current legislation.
3. Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the CEO and team to develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives aligned with the charities mission, vision, and values.
4. Performance Monitoring: Writing reports including data and stories and feeding back, presenting to the staff, volunteers and the Board of Trustees relating to all aspects of the role.
5. Fundraising: Work with the CEO to devise a fundraising strategy that ensures a sustainable income from a variety of donors. From physical donations of food and toiletries to new projects. From Hi Vis jackets to salaries, fundraising will always be on the agenda and at the forefront of this role.
6. Process Optimisation: Identify opportunities for process improvement across all operational areas helping the charity to run as smoothly as possible.
7. Resource Allocation: Manage budgets, resources, funding pots and assets effectively, ensuring optimal utilisation and allocation to support operational objectives and financial targets.
8. Compliance and Risk Management: Working with the staff and vol team to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and policies, managing risks and implementing appropriate controls to mitigate potential issues.
9. Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including foodbanks, volunteers, partners, and statutory agencies, to support charity objectives and build on the established positive reputation. Identify and nurture new collaborations and relationships that deliver on our strategic objectives. Identify and build our corporate partners, encouraging working together for the good of community.
10. Ambassadorial role: represent BCFB to the media, at external events and publicity opportunities.
11. Continuous Learning and Development: Stay informed on strategies and practices in operations management and facilitate ongoing training and development opportunities for the staff and volunteers. Stay at the forefront of food poverty strategy, attending webinars, poverty events, discussion groups and keen to share that learning with the wider team and board.
12. Communication: Confident to speak in public at various events, chair meetings and feel at home in front of an audience. The post holder will be required to represent the charity at a senior level both internally and externally.
Knowledge and Experience
13. Proven experience in a leadership role overseeing operations, preferably within the charity sector.
14. Experience of working with a Board of Trustees.
15. Passionate about eradicating food poverty in our boroughs whilst actively seeking solutions to meet the need.
16. Strong understanding of charity principles, financial management, and strategic planning.
17. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
18. Strong listening and questioning skills, able to take account of and respond to information from a range of sources when developing plans.
19. Exceptional attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively, meeting deadlines and objectives.

Terms of Appointment
Location: Based in Brierley Hill, Dudley but must have a car and be willing to travel around the Black Country
Hours: 37.5 per week
Salary: £40,000 using JCP scales
3-year fixed contract, with scope to extend, funding permitted.

About the role
We are looking for a highly personable and skilled events and digital co-ordinator to join the UK Food Business team. This is an established team, responsible for improving animal welfare standards and developing sustainable supply chains across the global food industry. The right candidate will assist in the organisation of key events both in person and online to support the team to engage with key stakeholders in the chicken industry.
This is a vital role within Compassion’s Food Business Programme and offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact for farm animal welfare within a dynamic and influential global organisation. The right candidate will have a proven track record of organising forums, webinars and face to face round tables. You will need to be an influencer, a networker and capable of developing key business relationships. KidsOut’s core mission is to provide support designed to improve emotional, educational and social outcomes for children and young people who are facing numerous adverse childhood experiences associated with domestic abuse, poverty, family breakdown or ill health. We do this by providing joy filled experiences, practical and emotional support, and facilitating therapeutic or educational initiatives that strive to empower each child or young person to overcome adversity, unlock their full potential, and flourish in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
KidsOut’s support is offered to every child in a Women’s Aid refuge and over 100 independent refuges as well as children and young people experiencing crisis and challenge from some of the most marginalised and disadvantaged communities across the UK. Many of the 70,000 children and young people we support have undergone traumatic experiences, which can cause significant harm to their psychological development, their emotional wellbeing, their school life and their relationships.
We aim is to restore some normality and provide comfort to these traumatised children and young people though our programme of wellbeing amd educational activities. Our multi-faceted activities include fun days out, music, sport and art workshops as well as delivery of our bespoke Toyboxes to every child arriving at refuge. Additionally, for young people struggling to cope with their mental health we collaborate with regional partners to offer face-to-face sessions that offer specialist support and coping strategies to build resilience and improve emotional wellbeing.
In your role of Trust and Partnerships Officer you will be actively involved in the provision of these positive initiatives by applying your excellent research and relationship management skills to help develop a pipeline of income from charitable trusts and corporate foundations with the potential to support our wide range of projects. You will identify and develop compelling applications to secure funding through various funding sources, that not only contributes to the financial team target but makes a difference to the UK's most vulnerable children.
Key Duties:
- You will write compelling and successful funding applications to Charitable Trusts, Statutory funds and other grant making organisations.

About the role
This is an exciting new post in the Communications Team at Glass Door. Role Purpose:
The role of the Commercial Programmer is responsible for the creative programming and delivery of a commercial public events programme through public commercial events and private venue hire to grow our income, visitor numbers and opportunities.
Delivering exceptional experiences as an extraordinary cultural destination is at the heart of everything we do at the Old Royal Naval College and our audience development plan, brand positioning and values are our guiding principles.
This role will support the development and delivery of key areas which are essential to our success:
Commercial public events and partnerships support the Commercial Events department to create a year-round plan of commercial public events which engage existing and new visitors and grow income.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Commercial Events programming and delivery
- To research, programme, and deliver a regular annual public programme at the Old Royal Naval College, incorporating seasonal events and event programmes related to art installations or exhibitions.
- To support the development of the Commercial Public Events programme in line with the Commercial Events Strategy as defined by the Commercial Manager.
- Generate income and profile through a range of commercial partnerships, ticketed events, and new ventures to build financial resilience of the organisation.
- Programming unique and innovative special events, working alongside site partners to deliver a collaborative programme of commercial events.
- To use bench-marking research and consistent formative evaluation to keep the public programme relevant and successful.
- To provide engagement opportunities for audiences from all backgrounds with a diverse programme of events.
- To ensure that all events are staffed appropriately with the appropriate level of cover for the activities onsite.
- To manage all documentation and liaison in relation to the delivery of the public programme (i.e. communication with internal and external stakeholders, the completion of events schedules, Event Management Plans, and risk assessments).
- To manage the engagement of contractors and suppliers working on the public programme, ensuring all health and safety protocols are met and site rules adhered to.
- To keep complete and up-to-date financial records and ensure that the programme remains within a set budget.
- To handle and respond to private event enquiries and confirm/programme them appropriately in the site diary.
Personal Development and Training
- Maintaining a good level of knowledge of the public event, programming, and heritage industries
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practice.
Other duties
- Supporting the corporate ambitions of the Old Royal Naval College
- Taking care of your personal health and safety and that of others and report any health and safety and / or safeguarding concerns. Ensure proactive compliance with the Foundation’s health and safety and safeguarding policies, including risk assessments as required and implementing safe systems and practices.
- Any other duties as reasonably requested by the Commercial Manager or Director of Public Engagement and Commercial.
Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, and working with 2 Employability Leads and 3 Volunteer Managers, in this role you will lead on the volunteer strategy and develop a volunteer recruitment and retention plan.
You will design and deliver a safeguarding policy training plan for all staff, as Safeguarding Lead.
You will create a series of employability programmes based on our flagship FareChance model, supporting NEET people. And you will build and work with our volunteer, employability and warehouse teams to ensure they have the skills, support and training needed to manage the volunteeer workforce and deliver the employability programmes across the charity.
You will line manage 3 volunteer managers, based in St Judes and Bedminster in Bristol and in Sisna Park in Plymouth, as well as 2 employability leads based in Bedminster and inner city Bristol, and any future employability staff based din Plymouth.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications, the Digital and Social Media Marketing Manager will craft exciting, engaging digital and social media campaigns that deliver results for a range of audiences. The postholder will create and edit web pages using WordPress (no coding required) and deliver targeted paid-for advertising campaigns in Google Ads and LinkedIn Ads. The new Digital and Social Media Marketing Manager will also act as marketing lead for Hand in Hand’s cause related marketing partners, including creating social content, drafting blogs and press releases, working closely with the fundraising team.
To be successful, you will have marketing experience either in an in-house, or agency role, with excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills. You will be a competent digital marketer, with experience using digital marketing tools (e.g. MailChimp or HubSpot), and design tools such as Canva. You will be an effective and thoughtful communicator, able to build effective relationships with colleagues and corporate donors. It is desirable, but not a necessity to have experience, or understanding of the charity sector, women’s rights, and/or International Development.

Centrepoint, the UK’s leading youth homelessness charity, is looking for Partnerships Grant Giving Officer to join our Partnership team. This role is offered on a hybrid-working basis with home working combined with 2 days per week on average in our London, Manchester or Birmingham office (TBC on application).
We help vulnerable young people by giving them the practical and emotional support they need to find a job and live independently. Centrepoint provides homeless young people with accommodation; health support and life skills in order to get them back into education, training and employment. We want to end youth homelessness by 2037. Together with our partners, we support over 16,000 young people each year. It is a truly exciting time to be joining Centrepoint, as we work towards our vision to end youth homelessness by 2037.
About the role
The Grant Officer post will help Centrepoint to develop a grant-giving project as a part of a wider externally funded programme called More Than a Roof. The More Than a Roof programme that is supported by a large corporate partner, is projected to launch in the Autumn 2024 and will last for three years.
At Centrepoint and through the partners we work with, we see vulnerable young people arriving at supported living hostels following periods of rough sleeping, family relationship breakdowns, and a myriad of other traumatic experiences. Initially, Centrepoint wants to transform hostels around the country into homely and safe environments where young people can overcome trauma and receive the specialist support they need to give them a starting point for a happier life. We want to enable our 100 plus partner charities to access funding to implement the More Than a Roof philosophy, through a new grant-giving scheme. Youth homelessness charities would have the opportunity to apply for grants to make the living spaces of young people escaping homelessness, more like homes. This new programme will be the first time that Centrepoint has provided grants to other organisations. It will be an innovation for Centrepoint and one that we will learn from, as we provide vital additional funding for small to medium organisations working with homeless young people across the sector.
What you'll be doing:
- oversee the whole grant-giving process from the launch to communications and outreach; application and selection
- putting forward applications to the Grant Allocations board for approval
- organise the awards and distribute the funding in accordance to policies ensuring it is dispensed to a diversity of organisations across the UK and delivers impactful change for homeless young people
- maintain a grants management system and manage data in line with GDPR and other relevant policies
- establish and build strong relationships with strategic stakeholders and grantees
- monitor and evaluate the impact and success of each grant given by getting grantees to complete required monitoring forms,
- ensure all activity achieves the intended outputs and outcomes on time and within budget.

Reprezent is a not-for-profit social enterprise and specialist youth development organisation. Our award-winning approach helps young people to realise their full personal potential by providing training and development programmes that enable them to jumpstart their careers and develop a core suite of social, emotional and broadcast skills. At the helm of our operation is Reprezent Radio, a dynamic youth-led community radio station based in South London. Since 2010 the station’s hallmark has been empowering young voices and championing the narratives of diverse and underrepresented communities, and as a result many of our beneficiaries are those deemed ‘hardest-to-reach’ (young black South Londoners, early school leavers, second generation immigrants).
Our unique training model combines in-person training courses with work experience placements at the station, resulting in a cohesive programme of entry-to-advanced level training provision and an active waiting list of over two thousand people.

This role is a hybrid position, working both from home and with regular attendance required at our office/training space in Peckham and our station headquarters in Brixton.
Responsibilities

Joe’s Buddy Line is seeking a new organisational leader; a hands-on Chief Officer who can build on the great work already undertaken by our Trustees to deliver high impact mental health support services to schools and Universities; currently in London and the South East, but with ambitions to grow across England and Wales.
Joe Lyons was a caring son, brother, a wonderful friend and a talented, award-winning Radio Producer. Known as “Producer Joe”, he became Senior Producer of the Roman Kemp Breakfast Show at Capital Radio. Very sadly in August 2020 Joe passed away in totally unexpected circumstances at just 31 years of age.
During Joe’s life he brought a cheeky spirit and constant laughter to all those that met him. His selflessness and commitment to helping others touched so many, and in loving memory and as a legacy to Joe, his friends and family set up Joe's Buddy Line in January 2021.
We are now looking for a resilient, driven and inspirational individual to provide energy, strategic vision and operational management for our small and growing charity.
The successful candidate will bring a track record of effectively overseeing the day to day service delivery for a small charity, prudent financial management and an innovative approach to source and secure new opportunities for the Charity.
