Transforming Lives for Good (TLG) is a national Christian charity working in partnership with local churches to give struggling children hope and a future.
Building on the huge success of TLG Early Intervention Coaching, TLG Therapeutic Support will be a new way for TLG, with partner churches, to provide support in school for the increasing number of pupils struggling to cope due to their emotional, relational, and mental health experiences.
In this role we are looking for an individual that thrives working with children and young people in a school context and is passionate about supporting pupils and their families struggling with emotional, relational, and mental health challenges. This role requires a formal counselling qualification or at least evidence of notable progress on the journey to attaining a counselling qualification. The TLG Therapeutic Counsellor will be present each week in the school, providing specialist trauma aware care for these children, whilst supporting staff and parents too.
TLG is a Christian charity and, as a team, we want to bring our faith to the work we do; as such, we are recruiting an individual with a strong and active Christian faith. TLG is also committed to safeguarding children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure via the DBS.

Head of Children and Young People’s Counselling and Wellbeing Services

Position: Head of Children and Young People’s Counselling and Wellbeing Services
Location: Birmingham/hybrid
Hours: 38 hours a week (full time). Hours to be negotiated (flexible working available)
Salary: £37,261 per annum
Contract: Permanent

The Role
This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join the leadership team of a specialist charity for children and adults subjected to sexual violence and sexual abuse. You will be responsible for supporting the Chief Executive in meeting strategic objectives surrounding the provision of compassionate, timely and trauma-informed CYP counselling and wellbeing support; establishing and nurturing supportive relationships with partner CYP organisations; supporting the team in collective care to grow, flourish and develop in their roles and continue leading the charity as a reflective and responsive organisation. Your role will also involve impact and evaluation, communications and operations.
You will lead in the safe delivery, strategic direction and development of the trauma-informed CYP counselling and wellbeing services. You will support the Chief Executive and work closely with Heads of Services to implement the strategic direction of the organisation, manage operations, strengthen sustainability and to continuously improve the effectiveness and impact for the CYP we support.
This position offers an established role in a leading specialist rape and sexual abuse support charity and value-led, relational and strategic service provision to help the charity achieve the CYP service mission
About You
If you have experience in offering and shaping trauma-informed CYP services, therapeutically supporting CYP and leading individuals with a relational approach, this role could be for you. You will also need to show how you will live the charity’s big-hearted, bold, believing and trauma-informed values through this role.

The role and your key responsibilities
As Marketing Lead, you’ll head up the marketing to our Employer and Higher Education (HE) audiences - from crafting compelling email campaigns to growing our audience on LinkedIn. Employers and HE are our two newest audiences, and you’ll play a key role in driving their increased engagement and growth, ultimately helping us to support as many students as possible to make informed decisions about their next steps.

Your key responsibilities:

Marketing strategy and planning

Work with the Head of Marketing to set the marketing strategy for our employer and HE audiences, including understanding our customer personas, setting objectives, and identifying priorities for the year.

Execute the strategy and lead on the creation and delivery of all comms to these two new audiences.

Lead on the development and promotion of thought leadership content for our employer and HE audiences.

Email

Plan, write, and send compelling email campaigns, tailored to our different employer and HE audiences.

Use data to conduct regular ‘test and learns’ to maximise engagement with email campaigns.

Events

Work with our Events team to effectively market our events, including our in-person HE Summit and Employer Forum, LinkedIn webinars, and opportunities for employers and HE partners to connect with students at virtual university and careers fairs.

Write engaging event descriptions, create and send promotional comms, and send conversion and follow-up emails.

Provide on-the-day support to the Events team for bigger events, such as our in-person conferences.

Set and execute our strategy for LinkedIn.

Create engaging content to grow our employer and HE audiences on LinkedIn and report on analytics.

Design

Write effective briefs and work with our Graphic Designer to create impactful marketing collateral to use across digital channels and at in-person events.

Create your own graphic design projects, based on templates, such as event agendas and LinkedIn graphics.

Working together
You’ll be working as part of a small marketing team, alongside our: Head of Marketing (your line manager), Marketing Lead for UK and International schools, Events Manager, Events Leads, and Events Assistant. You’ll also be working closely with our Video team to make sure video content aligns with the marketing strategy, as well as our Employer and HE partnerships teams.
What we’re looking for

2-3 years’ experience in a marketing role.

Exceptional writing skills, including ability to pick up our Unifrog tone of voice and tailor messages to different audiences.

Excellent writing and communication skills, in person, over the phone and via video call.

Strong stakeholder management skills.

Highly organised and able to juggle different projects and deadlines.

Confident with Google Sheets and Docs, and happy to learn new platforms such as Later+, Visme and Canva.

Comfortable working both as part of a team and independently, and able to take the initiative when required.

Joining our Information & Support Team on a part-time basis, you'll provide crucial assistance to those in need during challenging times. You'll provide personalised support by offering a compassionate ear, sharing relevant information, and directing individuals to the resources they need.
Our Support Line Officers may not be counsellors or medically trained, but they are dedicated to delivering a professional service and providing reassurance during difficult times. Whilst this role can at times, be challenging due to the nature of the calls, the fulfilment that comes from making a positive impact on someone's life makes this role incredibly rewarding.
In this role, you will:
- Respond to a variety of enquiries from individuals affected by terminal illness, as well as their families, friends, or professionals. These inquiries may range from practical matters concerning finances or legal arrangements to accessing Marie Curie services, as well as emotional concerns such as grief and loss.
- Utilise the resources available through the Marie Curie Information and Support Service, along with other trusted sources primarily online, you will address inquiries, gather information, and direct individuals to the support they require. This may involve communication via phone, web chat, and other channels, as well as moderating our online community and undertaking additional project work to enhance our service.
- Apply relevant safeguarding procedures when required, to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the individuals contacting the helpline.
- Accurately record information into the database, ensuring data quality and date protection guidelines.
What we are looking for:
- You need to have excellent communication skills, a warm heart and a caring and compassionate soul.
- A genuine interest in helping others, you are patient, adaptable and know how to deliver an excellent customer experience.
- This role can be challenging at times, if you are patient, resilient and a great listener, you will excel in this role.
- Whilst this role will see you spend a considerable amount of time on the phone, there is also an administrative element, so a background in office administration would certainly be beneficial.
- Ideally you will come from a charity, health or social care background or have demonstrable customer service experience from another industry (such as a contact centre)
- Experience in a customer care / helpline or telephone support role is beneficial.
