The National Careers Service
The National Careers Service provides free, professional careers information, advice, and guidance to help our clients make decisions about learning, training, and work at any stage of their career. The service is available to anyone living in England and aged 13 or over. Through the National Careers Service, anyone can access professional careers advice and support for free via webchat, on the telephone, and face-to-face with a qualified careers adviser in the local area. Our skilled careers advisers can provide support on any aspect of our client’s career journey.
The Team
As part of the National Careers Service management team in the Southeast, you will be part of a small management and strategic team with an overview of a cohort of highly experienced and qualified Careers Advisers, trainees, tracking and admin staff that support our clients by providing Careers Information, Advice, and Guidance (CIAG) and monitoring our clients’ journeys.
About the Role
We’re seeking an inspiring, dedicated, and compassionate Area Manager to lead, support, and manage a team of careers advisers delivering the National Careers Service within the community. In this role, you'll be responsible for designing and delivering high-quality, innovative services tailored to customer needs, while driving team performance to meet targets and upholding the highest standards of impartial careers information, advice, and guidance.
You will ensure the successful delivery of services across community venues, Job Centres, education providers, and online platforms. This role blends performance management, resource planning, and partnership building with oversight of daily operations. You will also ensure the effective use of data and CRM systems, deliver clear communication and training to staff, and identify opportunities to expand and enhance service delivery.
This position requires travel and may include covering out of hours, weekends and bank holidays in line with First Contact requirements. There will be an on-call payment that will be received monthly.

The Digital Transformation Lead will spearhead the implementation of the Cathedral’s Digital Strategy. Job Summary
As a key role within the Fundraising Division, the Legacy Marketing Manager will work to achieve the essential long-term legacy income that helps Anthony Nolan to save the lives of people with blood cancer and blood disorders.
You will do this by shaping and implementing our legacy marketing plans to achieve our long-term income goals. You will develop an audience-centric and insight-driven legacy marketing programme to attract and steward potential legators. You will also have line management responsibility and oversee our legacy administration work.

- Develop and manage our legacy fundraising, setting and achieving agreed targets to help us to grow our long-term legacy income.
- Plan, develop and implement high impact, audience-centric legacy marketing campaigns to attract new legacy pledgers, considerers and enquirers. This includes activity across a range of channels from social media, digital, telemarketing, direct mail and events.
- Develop and implement compelling supporter journeys to effectively steward potential legators.
- Ensure that all legacy marketing campaigns are managed efficiently and effectively.

- Overall management of our annual legacy income; management of our legacy administration, including overseeing the external legacy admin support.

The ideal candidate will have experience of running successful major fundraising appeals to large audiences. The Development and Alumni Relations Office leads the process of generating long-term and consistent voluntary income for Merchant Taylors’ School, and forrunning a comprehensive alumni and parental relations programme.
The Development Manager (Fundraising and Stewardship) will be responsible for planning, managing and having an input to the strategy for a regular giving programme at Merchant Taylors’ School, with a focus on increasing the participation (giving rates) of both our alumni and parental constituencies, as well as donor retention through planning and executing a stewardship programme for benefactors of all levels. Some face-to-face fundraising may also be required, particularly relating to legacy fundraising and the post-holder will build a portfolio of mid-level donors they will manage.

What will I be doing?

What skills are we looking for?
Strong understanding of paid media channels; Audio Visual, Out Of Home, Digital with a particular focus on Paid Search and the role of the different channels in integrated campaign planning. You will also have experience working in an Agency environment.
Excellent project management and communication skills with experience of managing and improving priority workstreams involving multiple teams and stakeholders.
Media planning expertise and experience delivering multi-channel marketing campaigns across a broad portfolio.
Experience of leading communications to manage and motivate suppliers and agencies to drive maximum value from relationships.
Relevant experience of building positive working relationships and influencing others and working effectively as part of a matrix team.
Commercially aware with budget management experience.

The Role
As a Donation Centre Sorting Assistant, you will be reporting to the Donation Centre Manager, you will be responsible for quickly, efficiently and accurately sorting donations of clothing, bric-a-brac, electrical and all other donated items, for re-sale in our network of charity shops and via our eCommerce outlets. This role will operate in accordance with all health and safety regulations.
You will be expected to receive stock donations from our donors in a friendly, positive and welcoming way. We do not turn donations away as we have a significant growth plan for our retail network, so it is essential that you are able to remain positive and welcoming to all supporters and demonstrate our gratitude for receiving donations. Great customer service is also essential to maximise income through Gift Aid sign-ups and every donor should be encouraged to sign up to Gift Aid, if it is applicable for them.
Specifically, you will:
- Quickly and efficiently sort a wide variety of donated stock.
- Ensure that donated stock is stored appropriately and safely, in accordance with all health and safety regulations and charity policies, minimising the risk of damage and stock loss.
- Identify if any specific donated stock suits the profile/demographics of specific shops in the retail network and ensure that those items are ringfenced and delivered in a timely manner to maximise income for the charity.
- Communicate with Retail teams regarding stock offers and ensure that any requests for specific items are actioned in a timely manner.
- Create an engaging and supportive environment for our volunteers and ensure that the Donation Centre is a great place to work.
- Help create a welcoming professional atmosphere and deliver high standards of customer service for all donors, customers and supporters.
- Support the volunteer team by providing communication, support, guidance and direction in the absence of the Donation Centre Manager or their Deputy.
- PAT test donated electrical items to ensure that they are able to be sold in the shops, or via eCommerce (training will be provided).
- Coach any corporate volunteers in the standards that we expect in sorting, and represent the charity positively.
- Ensure that all charity policies, standards and operating procedures are communicated effectively to all members of your team and be comfortable in supporting your peers to change their behaviour or processes if they are not adhering.
- Ensure that the donated goods are processed in a timely manner to maximise income for the charity.
- Manage complaints effectively and efficiently, escalating through the Operations team structure, as appropriate, where they cannot be resolved at a local level.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- To be ideally educated to GCSE level or equivalent
- To have experience of working in a charity retailer or sorting high volume donated stock would be an advantage.
- To have a basic understanding of Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- To have good time management skills and the ability to prioritise your own workload to meet deadlines.
- To have the ability to use own initiative and work with little direction, as management will not always be at the same site.
- To have good communication and interpersonal skills.

Together, the charities Sands and Tommy’s have formed a Joint Policy Unit (JPU) focussed on achieving policy change that will save more babies’ lives during pregnancy and the neonatal period and on tackling inequalities in loss, so that everyone can benefit from the best possible outcomes.
The JPU’s mission is to secure policy change that will reduce rates of miscarriage, stillbirth, pre-term birth and neonatal death, and to work to eliminate inequalities in these outcomes.
While there is widespread agreement on the need for change to improve the safety of maternity and neonatal services, what that change looks like is not clear. To save more babies’ lives we believe that a continued focus is required, and that governments should set new commitments to reduce perinatal mortality and preterm births, focused on matching the best-performing countries in Europe.
This role will be crucial to the continued success of the JPU unit; leading, shaping and coordinating all the unit’s work.
We are looking for an independent and assertive problem-solver, a policy expert who can manage multiple priorities, take the initiative, lead the national conversation and is as excited as we are about taking the helm of this venture for both of our organisations.
The successful candidate will need to have a substantial track record of effectively leading and implementing national policy and influencing programmes, driving change and achieving the desired impact.
You will have considerable experience across research, data analysis, policy development, public affairs and communications. Additionally, you will be well-versed in research and data management, including analysing complex data and evaluating policy developments.
