About the role

Are you a systems or data professional who can combine business analysis and project management skills with excellent communication skills. We are looking for a talented, enthusiastic and highly organised individual with exceptional attention to detail and strong experience of working with large customer or membership databases.

You will be a part of the Advancement Operations Data and Insight Team. The team works collaboratively to provide system management, business analysis, project management, reporting and management information for the University’s fundraising, alumni engagement and broader advancement activities.

What you would be doing

You will be responsible for improving existing processes, monitoring and analysing system use and developing new data solutions so that the University’s business practices are enhanced, building strong collaborative relationships across the University to achieve this. You will also contribute the design and delivery of training programmes, producing accessible documentation and monitoring database use across the University to ensure it is consistent and accurate.

What we are looking for:

• Extensive experience of using all aspects of BBCRM or a similar fundraising CRM
• An understanding of the theory of large, complex relational databases, and experience of designing and implementing new data structures and system processes
• High level competence with MS Excel
• Experience of developing and delivering training programs, and designing systems for ongoing guidance and training, ideally related to databases
• Experience of gathering, interpreting and documenting business requirements

Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement (P&A) provides a fundraising and alumni engagement function in support of King’s College London. About the role

The Data Analyst works within the Data Team, using and transforming data from multiple sources to produce high quality, digestible reports, dashboards, and bespoke pieces of analysis for our fundraising and alumni colleagues.  You will also lead on any benchmarking projects, both the submission of data and the interpretation and presentation of their findings.  Being a clear communicator of often complex information, you will deliver insight into the performance of our various fundraising and engagement programmes, giving colleagues the information they need to continually innovate and improve.

In addition, you will have a raft of technical skills and approaches that will enable you to efficiently transform source data from multiple data sources ready for import into our Dynamics CRM system.

You will be keen to learn and develop, embracing new technologies and ways of working, and will work with the Data Team and others across the department to improve the quality of the underlying data we all rely on.  You will also work closely with others in the team, IT colleagues and other users across the organisation to shape future CRM features.

You will be required to liaise and work collaboratively with other teams on new fundraising projects and initiatives, thereby ensuring a joined-up approach, that future reporting requirements can be met, with learning shared and insight retained.  You will often need to manage multiple requests and prioritise your workload, albeit we have adopted an Agile approach to development.

This is a full time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

P&A has a hybrid working approach, with a minimum of 40% of time in the office. Typically, this equates to two days per week, but we’re very happy for colleagues to be in more frequently if they so wish.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

1. Knowledge of data insight, analysis and reporting techniques.

2. Significant experience of working with a fundraising or marketing CRM in a technical, database management or report writing capacity.

3. Strong SQL skills.

4. Experience of building reports and dashboards using Power BI or other data visualisation tools.

5. Ability to create data transformations using tools such as Power Query, Power Automate and/ or VBA macros.

6. Experience of manipulating large or complex datasets.

7. Ability to communicate often complex and technical information in a clear and digestible way to a wide range of stakeholders, both internal and external.

8. Experience of managing conflicting deadlines and multiple priorities.

Desirable criteria

1. Knowledge of data modelling/ analysis techniques.

2. Experience of using Microsoft Dynamics and its associated applications such as Customer Insights.

3. Experience of building dashboards within Microsoft Dynamics.

4. Knowledge of other programming languages, such as DAX and M.

5. Restless enthusiasm for learning new technologies and improving processes.

As a Financial Accountant within our Finance & Assurance directorate, you'll be part of a team that's transforming how we deliver financial partnership across the organisation. You'll be responsible for the essential technical delivery, preparing VAT returns, managing partial exemption calculations, overseeing Corporation Tax and Gift Aid. About you:

You're a qualified accountant with strong process improvement experience who thrives on identifying inefficiencies and implementing better ways of working. You're excited by the prospect of shaping an entire area within a finance function.

You're a problem-solver who constantly asks, "how can we do this better?" You have a genuine curiosity about how things work and a drive to continuously improve. Existing knowledge of VAT compliance, particularly partial exemption, would be beneficial, as would broader familiarity with Corporation Tax, Gift Aid, and other statutory obligations. However, what matters most is your appetite to learn and your determination to find better ways forward.

You'll have:

• Proven experience driving process improvements in a finance environment, demonstrating where you've identified inefficiencies, redesigned workflows, or delivered measurable improvements.
• A CCAB qualification achieved through education, or demonstrable equivalent knowledge and experience that evidences your understanding of the role's requirements.
• Some experience with VAT, Corporation Tax, Gift Aid, or other UK tax regulations. You don't need to be a tax specialist, but you should have exposure to tax compliance and a genuine interest in developing deep expertise in this area.
• The ability to quickly build technical knowledge and confidence in complex tax scenarios, with a problem-solving approach to navigating regulations.
• Experience working with HMRC or other regulatory bodies, demonstrating credibility and professionalism in external relationships.
• Demonstrated experience as a Financial Accountant in a large or complex organisation.
• The ability to work effectively across departments and at all levels, translating complex financial or technical matters into practical guidance.
• Experience with cloud-based ERP systems (we use Unit4) and a mindset of continuous improvement.

• Developing robust tax processes and controls that optimise our position while ensuring compliance.
