Job description

£20,969 (£24,464 FTE) per annum plus 8.5%  Employer Pension Contributions. 30 hours per week (Some evening work required)

The Diocese of Coventry is seeking to appoint a part time Safeguarding Training and Support Officer to lead on the implementation and delivery of the safeguarding learning and development strategy in line with the House of Bishops guidance. In addition this role provides support to parishes and excellent administrative support to the Diocesan Safeguarding Team in serving and equipping the Diocese to live out our Mission Purpose of Worshipping God, Making New Disciples, and Transforming Communities.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the safeguarding team as we continue to develop a culture of safeguarding throughout the diocese as part of our ongoing commitment towards making churches ‘safe spaces’ for everyone.

This post reports to the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) and is based in Coventry.

The main responsibilities are:

  • Be responsible for the organisation, implementation and delivery of face to face and online training
  • Be responsible for all safeguarding training administration, supporting the DSA in ensuring all Clergy, Readers and those with Permission to Officiate have undertaken training in the last 3 years.
  • Provide advice and guidance to Parishes (often the Parish Safeguarding Officer) in respect of the Safer Recruitment process including DBS of volunteers.
  • Ensure accurate data inputting of information onto the database and Contact Management System.

The successful applicant will have experience of working in a Safeguarding role, arranging, facilitating and delivering face to face training, be highly organised and have good administration and IT skills, particularly MS Office.
