Harris Hill is delighted to be working with a global, values-led charity to recruit a Database Officer to join their Development team. Working just 1 day a week in the London office, this is a permanent role, working with a brilliant charity.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a detail-oriented and proactive individual to play a key role in supporting fundraising and engagement activity through effective data management. Working closely with the Data & Appeals Manager, you will help maintain and develop the organisation’s CRM system, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with GDPR.
You will be responsible for processing and reconciling donations, running reports and data selections for campaigns, supporting email and direct marketing activity, and providing guidance to colleagues on best practice use of the database. The role also involves regular data audits, handling large datasets, and collaborating with internal teams and external agencies.
The successful candidate will have:
- Strong experience working with CRM systems (ideally Raiser’s Edge),
- Advanced Excel skills, and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong working knowledge of using MS Excel formulae and functions, such as Lookups, Conditional Formatting, Pivot Tables, removal of duplicates and calculus
- Experience running and building queries to obtain targeted data selections, including exporting of relevant data for direct mail appeals and reports
- Experience of working with large data sets, including undertaking data manipulation, importing of data, cleaning and interrogating data
- Experience of importing clean data into Raiser’s Edge is highly desirable.
- Proficient in data entry processes with strong understanding of best practice including GDPR, data confidentiality etc
- You will be an excellent communicator, able to build effective working relationships, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

We are looking for a new Database Support Officer to bring their enthusiasm and technical and communication skills to our fast-paced environment, which nurtures future development opportunities.
CHAIN – the Combined Homelessness and Information Network – is a multi-agency database for rough sleeping services in London. It plays a central role in the sector, allowing workers to share information with each other and ensuring their clients get the right support. It is one of the world’s most comprehensive systems of its kind, and is used for developing London and UK-wide rough sleeping strategy and policy.
This dynamic role requires a flexible skillset, responsiveness, and a willingness to learn. Working collaboratively in our small team, you will:
- Develop relationships with rough sleeper outreach services,
- Help to run the busy CHAIN Helpdesk service,
- Create bespoke reports and statistics
- Facilitate training sessions
- Participate in the ongoing development and improvement of the system
The ideal candidate will combine a genuine enthusiasm for helping others and continuously improving services with great attention to detail, and problem-solving skills. You’ll have a high level of expertise in Excel and some understanding of managing databases. We’ll provide lots of support to develop your skills in using Access and Salesforce, as well as your understanding of data protection policies, and of the work of the homelessness sector.

As a Database Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the Data & Appeals Manager by ensuring our supporter and contact database (Raiser’s Edge) is effectively maintained and up to date. You will assist the wider Development team with reports and queries, help manage fundraising data and ensure the accuracy and integrity of donor information.
Main responsibilities:
Assist in the daily management of the Raiser’s Edge database, ensuring data accuracy through regular audits.
Provide training and advice to colleagues on database access and usage, ensuring compliance with best practices.
Reconcile and process donations from various sources, including BACS, credit cards, and online platforms.
Run direct debit and gift aid claims, ensuring valid documentation is maintained.
Provide key data and segmentation for fundraising appeals and emails, working closely with the communications team.
Essential requirements:
- Experience in CRM systems (preferably Raiser’s Edge) and proficiency in MS Excel.
- Demonstrable experience supporting charities and fundraising teams in a data role.
- Confident working with large datasets.
- Solid understanding of GDPR and data confidentiality.
- Excellent communicator, a team player, and have a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent time management skills, able to prioritise daily tasks and manage deadlines.
