We are looking to recruit an experienced journalist to manage all aspects of content development and production of the Charity’s membership magazine, Under 5, in both print and digital format. This is a hybrid role (two days a week in the London office).

Main duties:
- To identify and research themes for each issue, sourcing and managing contributors to ensure the magazine has a clear, consistent, relevant and interesting voice to the readership.
- To lead on planning, sourcing contributors, writing and managing content of Under 5 magazine, 10 issues produced every year
- To liaise with Communications and External Affairs colleagues to ensure that corporate partnership publicity, advertorial, editorial and competition deals are delivered to meet terms of contra deals in relevant issues of Under 5.
- To write, edit and upload regular online news stories for selected digital communication including planning, writing and managing content for the fortnightly Under 5 e-newsletter.
Essential criteria:
- Proven experience of working on magazine in an editorial role with an ability to lead on commissioning, writing, sub-editing and proofing professional copy.
- Excellent journalistic writing skills, with the ability to write concise and accurate news copy.
- Clear understanding and practical experience of managing magazine print and production processes
- Strong interpersonal skills with direct experience of managing internal and external suppliers, journalists, production staff, advertisers and contributors.
- Strong creative and written skills with an ability to produce clear, accurate and interesting copy tailored for different audiences.

The Salvation Army is a truly inspirational organisation that provides a range of services supporting the homeless, families and vulnerable older people and has been doing this for over 100 years.
The position of Philanthropy Fundraiser, Scotland and Northern Ireland will play a key role in developing support from charitable trusts & foundations and major donors in Scotland and Northern Ireland. You will take ownership of managing and developing fundraising relationships establishing new prospects and engaging with existing supporters.
Key responsibilities:

Manage & develop a portfolio of existing and prospective medium sized charitable trusts & foundations across Scotland and Northern Ireland

Manage & develop a portfolio of existing and prospective major donor gifts across Scotland and Northern Ireland

Research and identify prospective funders who align with The Salvation Army’s aims and objectives and key strategic funding priorities

Support the team with planning, organising and associated administration of any donor related events, including the annual Christmas carol concert reception
Experience and skills:

Preferably the successful candidate will have previous experience of fundraising, with a proven record in generating income from trusts & foundations and/or major donors

You will have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey information to donors and colleagues in a clear, effective and professional manner

The successful candidate will have the ability to plan, organise and prioritise a varied workload to effectively meet your objectives to the expected quality standards and time scales
The role is based in Scotland with hybrid working. Ideally the candidate will be based in the Central Belt of Scotland with the ability to access offices in Glasgow or Edinburgh with two days per week being office based. (preferably one of these days based in the Glasgow office)
Salary: £31,224 plus pension, 25 days annual leave, life assurance, cycle to work scheme, travel loan and childcare vouchers.

Exciting opportunity for a charity sector Community Helpline Manager in Torbay
The Torbay Health and Wellbeing Voluntary Sector Network in Torbay is recruiting a full-time Manager to oversee the Torbay Community Helpline.
This post will be based in the local voluntary sector infrastructure organisation - Torbay Communities, hosts of the Community Helpline.
We are seeking an exceptional individual to lead this nationally recognised and acclaimed innovation. Torbay’s Community Helpline was established during the Covid pandemic and has since been developed by the local community into a central access point to the voluntary and community sector as a whole. Since 2021, it has also been the front door for new Adult Social Care referrals in the area through a unique partnership with the local statutory sector. Providing the best possible support to local residents the Helpline’s strapline ‘One Call – That’s All’ sums up the holistic approach. Individuals and families can access a wide range of support from food parcels to mental health support, help with isolation to debt advice etc. The Helpline links into over 100 voluntary sector organisations locally and into grassroots networks of residents offering support to each other. The Helpline has a strengths-based approach to its operations, with callers often helping others after they have received some support.
We are looking for someone who can lead this initiative into the next phase. Someone with the relevant experience who can identify the Helpline’s potential and - working with staff, volunteers, voluntary sector and statutory sector partners - deliver excellent support to our residents and develop the Helpline to meet future needs.
