Job description

Are you excited about the prospect of working in the environment sector at the grass roots level?

Are you interested in local energy issues that address the climate emergency? If so, we have a great opportunity for you.

You’ll be working in CSE’s Local and Community Empowerment team whose mission is to ensure that all communities feel inspired and able to play a meaningful role in the transition to a more sustainable and fairer energy system.

Pay and conditions

  •  The role is full-time (37.5 hours per week).
  • The salary for the role will be £23,820 – £25,369 per annum
  • You will be entitled to 25 days paid holiday (plus statutory holidays).

Specific responsibilities

An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to:

  • Engage with a range of stakeholders, potentially building community groups, local authorities, town and parish councils, and voluntary sector organisations to take action on climate change.
  •  Provide administrative support for timely delivery of project activities, accurate record keeping and robust reporting across a range of CSE projects and initiatives.
  • Help with the planning, promotion and delivery of training sessions, workshops and events.
  • Represent CSE on a range of projects, in external, in-person and online meetings and events.
  • Develop materials and approaches to promote our projects, activities, reports and publications to ensure effective engagement with our target audiences.

Essential attributes for this role include:

  • O’level/GCSE Maths and English
  • Basic understanding of the broad themes driving the sustainable energy, fuel poverty and climate change work of CSE.
  • Highly organised and able to manage time and busy workload.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience of working as part of a team.
