We would like to welcome applications from passionate and experienced Group Facilitators to join our Hertfordshire team to support our Dementia Support Group provision.
As part of the new Dementia Support contract in Hertfordshire we manage various activities groups (weekly) across the county. The groups are well established and a crucial means of support to service users and carers. We are in the process of reviewing our groups and this might result in us developing more groups (respite, specific communities or location specific) in the coming months.
You will be joining a team of Group Facilitators and Dementia Advisers that are experienced and passionate about their work supporting you to undertake your role successfully. Our focus for this recruitment is East Herts (EN8/AL1) and North Herts (SG1/SG8) although the successful candidate will need to be flexible to cover any area as the service demands. We have 2 posts available working either 35 or 28 hours.
As a Group Facilitator you will be part of the Dementia Support and Partnerships directorate which provides advice and support services to both people who live with the dementia and the people that care for them.
About you
- You will need to be an innovative team player with good interpersonal and administration skills.
- Have experience of delivering groups, understanding of dementia and the local area.
- You will need to have access to a car and able to travel independently.

What you’ll focus on:
- You will be managing and facilitating weekly activities based groups (could range from 2-4 groups per week), structuring a 12 week program for the groups you manage in consultation with service users and carers.
- Manage volunteers that support your groups.
- Working with local Dementia Advisers to provide 1-2-1 support for groups attendees and establishing relationships with local organisations for the purposes of signposting support for service users.

As our Befriending Service Coordinator, you will lead the further development and coordination of our befriending offer, working closely with volunteers and service users. Your work will help provide a supportive, connected service enabling those at risk of isolation to feel connected and engaged with others.

What you’ll do:
- Lead the delivery of our individually tailored befriending service, supporting clients to reconnect to community and reduce isolation.
- Work with the other teams to support your clients in accessing our wider services and support, including social activities.
- Build strong partnerships with local groups and services across health, social care and the voluntary sector.
- Use and support the team of existing befriending linked volunteers and develop further recruitment and training as needed.
Who you are:
You have experience working in older people services or the voluntary sector, and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by older people. You’re proactive, organised, and passionate about delivering person-centred support that makes a real difference.

Bipolar UK is the only national charity dedicated to supporting individuals affected by bipolar, including carers and families. We're launching an exciting new lottery-funded project in Northern Ireland to expand our peer support network.
As Senior Volunteer Co-ordinator, you’ll play a central role in growing and supporting our network of local support groups. You’ll recruit, onboard and induct volunteer co-facilitators, ensuring a welcoming, inclusive experience. You’ll supervise and support volunteers, helping them develop skills and confidence to deliver safe, effective peer support—whether online or in-person.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the set-up and running of new support groups across Northern Ireland.
- Providing ongoing training and practical assistance to volunteers.
- Collaborating on the promotion of groups and services with internal teams and external partners.
- Ensuring compliance with safeguarding, GDPR and internal policies.
- Promoting Bipolar UK’s self-management courses and psychoeducation resources.
- Representing the charity within communities and building partnerships with local mental health services.
This is a varied, hands-on role ideal for someone with strong communication skills, experience supporting volunteers, and a passion for peer-led mental health support.

Salary: £28,000–£30,000 | Contract: 2-year fixed term (extension subject to funding)
Location: Home-based in Northern Ireland, with occasional travel to London.
Hours: Full-time (35 hours/week)
