Role Overview

We are entering a period of significant growth and change driven by our new strategy, and the Clinical Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the evolution of our clinical approach, delivering our strategic priorities, and representing UP as a credible and influential clinical leader.

You will provide strategic clinical leadership and robust clinical governance across the charity, ensuring our services remain safe, effective, evidence-based and responsive to need. You will champion high standards of multidisciplinary practice, leading and developing our clinical workforce, providing clinical oversight and support, driving improvement and innovation, and building infrastructure, capability and clinical excellence needed to support our future growth.

This is a hands-on leadership role that combines strategic vision with operational delivery. While the role balances both strategic and operational responsibilities, we anticipate that, through building internal capability and capacity, the focus will evolve over time towards a greater emphasis on strategic leadership, innovation, growth and impact. Barnet Mencap is a charity based in Finchley that provides support and runs a multitude of projects for people with learning disabilities and/or Autism. We are dynamic, enthusiastic, diverse, and committed to equal opportunities and the safeguarding of children and adults at risk. 

There is currently a vacancy within our Equality Housing Team for a focused individual to join our caring, passionate, and diverse team in supporting adults with moderate learning disabilities and autistic adults to live independently in housing situations of their choice. The successful candidate will have:

• Experience of working with adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults in a community setting
• Understanding of the issues faced by people with learning disabilities and autistic people living independently and the skills to meet their practical, social and emotional needs
• A ‘Person Centred Planning’ ethos
• Providing support with personal care as required
• Excellent communication and record keeping skills

Charity and Staff Management

• Delegated responsibility for the day-to-day running of the charity, office administration, line management and supervision of the small staff team
• Liaison with HR support service, supported by the Chair and Treasurer
• Lead on digital development and liaison with external IT support service
• Lead on monitoring, evaluation and learning
• Lead on dealing with any concerns, complaints, or safeguarding issues, and act as the charity’s Designated Safeguarding Lead, supported by the Safeguarding Trustee and Chair
• Maintain the charity’s Risk Register

Strategic Development

• Operational implementation of the Board-led Strategic Plan including providing regular reports for trustees and members as required
• Develop and manage annual operational plans and reports, supported by the Trustees
• Working with the Client Representative Trustees, support clients (Disabled people with Assistance Dogs) to participate in the charity’s development
• Manage accreditation with Assistance Dogs International and standards

Promotion and Communications

• Promote the work of the charity positively and proactively, manage and ensure consistency of the charity brand across communications
• Liaison with Assistance Dogs International, Assistance Dogs UK (ADUK) and fellow member organisations, including attendance at ADUK meetings
• Maintain and develop key relationships, supported by relevant staff and trustees
• Manage communications with members (clients and trainers)

Finance and Fundraising

• Work with the Treasurer and relevant staff to support the management of annual budgets, financial reporting and monitoring
• Operational implementation of the Fundraising Strategy, working with relevant staff and trustees

Governance and Compliance

• Support the Board of Trustees to ensure high standards of governance and compliance with all legal requirements affecting the charity
• ·Support the development of new processes, procedures and policies, with regular monitoring and reviews
• Health and Safety lead, responsible for completing any RIDDOR paperwork as and when required

Job Title: Refuge Worker

Location: This is an onsite role, located within the London Borough of Hounslow, there may be a requirement to occasionally work in the London Borough of Hillingdon.
Salary: £29,701.36 per annum, Inclusive of London Weighting, which may not be applicable depending on your home location and any agreed permanent homeworking arrangement

Hours: 37.5 hours per week 

This is an opportunity to join Refuge as a Refuge Worker to provide high quality practical and emotional support to survivors of domestic violence and their children living in our refuges.

The post holder will provide high quality practical and emotional support to survivors of domestic violence and their children living in our refuges. This includes safety planning and enabling women to access housing, welfare, benefits, and legal advice. A key requirement is to provide personal welfare support and to ensure that women are provided with a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment in accordance with Refuge’s philosophical principles.
