About Us

INASP is an international development organisation working with a global network of partners to improve access, production and use of research information and knowledge in developing countries.
We are a UK registered charity, established in 1992 and funded by a range of government and institutional donors. We have 24 staff based in our Oxford and London offices.

We are looking for a well-organised Programme Assistant with good interpersonal and communication skills to provide administrative support to our programme team. The successful candidate is likely to spend most of their time supporting two projects, working with our university and research partners in East Africa. 

The Role

The Programme Assistant will report to one of INASP’s Senior Programme Specialists. They will play a key role in the programme team to ensure the effective delivery of one or more of INASP’s projects. 

This will include providing administrative support to one or more projects, including travel bookings and event logistics, data input, co-ordinating meetings, and support to funder reporting. The Programme Assistant will also provide general administrative support to the Director of Programmes and wider programme team.

Key Responsibilities 

In close co-ordination with the relevant line or project manager/lead, the Programme Assistant will: 

- Provide logistical support to one or more specific projects, as well as general support to the programme team to assist with the team’s programme development needs
- Provide logistical support to the organisation of external events, workshops and meetings, including making travel bookings, booking hotels and liaising with partners
- Schedule, co-ordinate and take minutes of team meetings and meetings with partners 
- Support project and financial reporting to funders, including supporting the team to gather data and information from project partners
- Contribute to project co-ordination and management by assisting with creating and updating workplans, budgets, timesheets and other tools 
- Support the team to maintain online platforms and systems, including keeping records up to date in INASP’s CRM and MEL databases

We are looking for candidates with:

- Good organisational skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills 
- A methodical, thorough approach with attention to detail
- Data analysis and compilation skills
- Excellent computer skills
- Knowledge of, and an interest in, international development
- Knowledge of, and an interest in, higher education, research communication, governance and policymaking
