We are open-minded about the professional background of this individual and are mostly looking for someone with experience of leading effective, inclusive teams, of chairing complex organisations or meetings, and in building influential cross-sector partnerships.
Key responsibilities
Student Minds Chair is expected to commit to the following:

Preparation and attendance at four board meetings a year. Board meetings are held online and take place on weekdays from 5 - 7.30 pm.

Preparation and attendance at two in-person board away days each year, usually from 12.30 - 5 pm. These usually take place in Leeds and include a lunchtime or evening social.

Monthly supervision calls with the Chief Executive

Annual in-person appraisal of the Chief Executive

Support with board appraisals and recruitment

Ad-hoc meetings and conversations with the senior leadership team as required. This usually constitutes approximately a further five working days a year.

Become a GamCare Online Peer Supporter
Make a difference by using your own experiences
For over 25 years, GamCare has been there for people experiencing gambling harms, whether that be people who gamble themselves or someone impacted by someone else’s gambling. We offer support over the phone, face-to-face or online and our treatment is free, flexible and confidential.
We are currently recruiting for Online Peer Supporters, to provide one-to-one and group support to both individuals who gamble and those affected by someone else’s gambling. Using their own experiences of gambling-related harms, volunteers will support others digitally as part of our Online Support Services and will include email support as well as facilitating our Forum and Chatrooms.
Full training and ongoing support will be provided to enable you to use your lived experience to work with our team as an Online Peer Supporter, providing support to all of those affected by gambling.
We believe that peer support is essential in the recovery journey. It provides:
- Shared understanding
- Reduces stigma
- A non-judgemental environment
- Practical insights and tools
- Continued motivation and hope
Our online platforms are designed to provide social connection to those who could be isolated or feel they have no one else to talk to. People accessing our services have identified that receiving support from someone who has had similar experiences can really benefit them when overcoming the challenges they may face on their recovery journey. It also provides a sense of community and belonging and contributes to the long-term support of those accessing these services.
Training
A comprehensive training programme will be delivered by our Volunteer Coordinators to provide you with the skills and confidence to use your experiences to support others while protecting your own recovery. Training includes:
- Safeguarding
- Motivational interviewing
- Facilitation skills
Role Responsibilities
Online Peer Supporters will:
- Navigate and guide contacts through existing services at GamCare and the National Gambling Support Network.
- Use motivational interviewing skills while drawing from their own lived experience to provide a supportive, non-judgemental space for those affected by gambling harms.
- Facilitate discussions via our online support services, including:
Email – you will be paired with an individual for regular email correspondence (on average 1-2 emails per week for approximaely 6 months)
Chatrooms – you will facilitate group discussions and supporting conversation between people at various stages of recovery
Forum – you will initiate discussions, respond to posts, and provide encouragement, signposting and support to forum users
- Help individuals set aims and goals to move to a more positive, sustained recovery whilst also providing resources to support people with these plans.
- Recognise the purpose and remit of our service and signposting to other internal and external support where appropriate.
What can I expect from GamCare?
In return, GamCare will:
- Provide a full, comprehensive induction and training programme
- Give you access to a dedicated Volunteer Coordinator
- Offer and arrange 1:1 and group supervision
- Fully support your own wellbeing and recovery journey
- Give ongoing training and development opportunities
- Provide access to some internal job opportunities within our services team
- Provide a reference after 3 months of regular volunteering
Role Requirements
For any of our volunteering roles we ask that you have lived experience of gambling-related harms. This includes being affected by someone else’s gambling (friend or family member).
We ask that you’ve been in positive, sustained recovery for at least one year before volunteering with us.
This role is completely remote, so you’ll need access to a reliable internet connection, a computer and a confidential space.

Availability & Commitment
We ask that you have availability at a regular time for around 1-2 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months.

Make a difference – become a school governor

Kent Community Foundation (KCF) is looking for individuals to join our Board of Trustees who have a real passion for our county and want to make a demonstrable difference to the lives of people in our communities.
KCF is a professional grant-maker and local philanthropy advisor for Kent and Medway. The Jawbone Collective seeks a Volunteer Bookkeeping / Financial Recordkeeping support person to join our thriving arts organisation. About Us
The Jawbone Collective is a dynamic arts organisation dedicated to nurturing creative voices across the Wessex Region. Founded in 2022, we've evolved from our initial mission of publishing the poetry collections of under represented groups to becoming a comprehensive creative hub offering multiple platforms for artistic expression. Our initiatives include the upcoming Jawbone Journal - May 2025; developing a Substack community, Jawbone Radio for spoken word performances; plus workshops - in person and online; and mentoring programs. Based in Dorset, we've established strong creative communities in Dorchester and Bridport as well as attracting attendees to real world activities coming from Dorset, Devon, Wiltshire and Somerset, whilst also maintaining an active online presence attracting people from the UK and across the world.

Off The Record (OTR) is an independent charity based in the Havant Borough. We have been supporting young people and their families in Southeast Hampshire and surrounding areas since 1977.
We offer free 1-2-1 and family counselling, group work services for those 11 to 25 and support for their families, we deliver a young carer programme to young people ages 8 to 25.

Our Trustee board meet every month; in-person bi-monthly for 2 hours with the months in between a shorter 1-hour online meeting. On occasion there will ad-hoc meeting to meet the needs of the organisation and to carry out the trustee role.

Responsibilities:
· Provide strategic guidance and expertise to support Off The Record's vision and mission.
· Actively participate in board meetings, contributing ideas, insights, and constructive feedback.
- Assist in the development and provide oversight of operational policies, procedures, and initiatives to further the organisation's objectives.
- Help oversee the governance of the charity in accordance with the Charity Commission’s published guidelines.
· Promote the Charity’s work and values within your networks and wider communities.
· Collaborate with fellow trustees, staff, and volunteers to ensure the smooth running of the charity's operations.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
The statutory duties of a trustee
· To ensure that the organisation complies with its governing document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations
· To ensure that the organisation pursues its objects as defined in its governing document
· To ensure the organisation uses its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objective
· To contribute actively to the board of trustees' role in giving firm strategic direction to the organisation, setting overall policy, defining goals, and setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets
· To safeguard the good name and values of the organisation.
· To ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation
· To ensure the financial stability of the organisation
· To protect and manage the property of the charity and to ensure the proper investment of the charity's funds
· To observe and follow the latest version of the Charity Commission Guidance
Other duties
· Scrutinising board papers
· Leading discussions
· Providing guidance on new initiatives
· Other issues in which the trustee has special expertise
· Participating in working groups outside of Board meetings
Trustee person specification
· Commitment to the organisation
· Willingness to devote the necessary time and effort – which could be several hours per week to keep up with incoming emails and correspondence, Monthly Trustee meetings and the Annual General Meeting.

Qualifications and Skills:
· A genuine interest in the well-being and mental health of young people.
· Previous experience as a trustee or in a similar governance role would be advantageous but not essential.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
· Knowledge and understanding of the voluntary sector and charity governance or willingness to learn.
- Ability to promote the Charity’s work and values within your networks and wider communities.
- Expertise in one or more of the following areas: safeguarding, counselling, mental health, fundraising, finance, marketing, law, or HR would be desirable (but not essential).

OTR has been part of our community since 1977, our purpose has remained the same throughout, to
support young people’s mental health to fulfil their potential for a brighter future, however during this
time we have evolved, expanded and developed our services. We put young people at the heart of what
we do, by integrating youth voice into our services we are continuously evolving to meet current needs
of young people and their families.
You will be joining an amazing and established team.
A staff of 16 cover all bases, with an established admin and front-line group work and Young Carer
teams, and leadership team that oversee admin, therapeutic and youth services, business support,
volunteers, finance, safeguarding and clinical supervision. Our dedicated counsellors and volunteers
deliver the therapeutic services and information and support calls. Our trustees meet every month,
alternating between formal board meetings, and trustee ongoing development meetings.
You will be joining a safe and respected service, that is long standing and held dearly by our
local community.
Our policy and procedures ensure a high standard of operational and clinical governance across the
organisation, that is brought to life with an excellent induction and training programme, and varied and
topical CPD opportunities throughout the year. We are always reminded of our legacy by the continued

PDA Society are excited to share that we are looking for 2 new Trustees to join our board.
Trustees play a key role in providing strategic direction, oversight, and support to ensure that the PDA Society continues to grow sustainably and deliver real impact for the community we serve.
Following the retirement of two Trustees we’re keen to broaden the range of skills and experiences represented. Our work is guided by people with lived experience, and our Board of Trustees plays a central role in shaping our strategy and ensuring that our values are embedded across everything we do.
Appointments are made on merit, and we are committed to creating a diverse, inclusive Board that truly reflects the communities we serve.
We particularly welcome applications from anyone who has experienced marginalisation due to their race or religion, as these voices are currently underrepresented on our Board.
This is a voluntary position, and Trustees are not remunerated, although reasonable expenses are reimbursed. Trustees are appointed for an initial 3-year term.
