About the role
Individual giving is a fantastic, high performing team, generating over £20 million fundraised income per year. Your role will be pivotal in helping to support the delivery of our fundraising strategy, budget management, as well as being responsible for delivering campaigns to generate income both now and for the future.
If successful, you will be responsible for acquisition and retention communications that talk to thousands of individuals, building relationships with supporters across a wide range of marketing channels (including face-to-face, DRTV, direct mail, digital) and different activities, and driving vital income to support the charity’s research and care objectives.
With a large range of activity coming up, individual giving income growing strongly, and investment secured for the future, this is an exciting time to join and contribute to a passionate, experienced and effective team.
About you
You’ll either already have some experience of working in a marketing/fundraising environment, or demonstrate a strong desire and attitude to learn quickly about running direct marketing campaigns, working closely with suppliers, to generate income and develop lasting engagement with tens of thousands of supporters.
A well organised person with excellent communication skills, you’ll be managing relationships with key external agencies and in house stakeholders to deliver complex, multi-faceted campaigns while closely monitoring and ensuring they are delivered to budget. You’ll have a real focus on monitoring key campaign metrics to optimise performance.
Working across a range of channels that can include email, online, telemarketing, direct mail, door to door and private site, you’ll understand supporter motivations, and how to increase supporter engagement, testing and evolving our campaigns to best fit what works for our supporters and ensuring that the Breast Cancer Now brand ethos is at the heart of all communications.

At Impetus we are looking for our next Director of Public Affairs, someone who can inspire our brilliant Public Affairs team and spearhead our communications, policy and research work. This is an exciting senior role, joining our Senior Management Team and working alongside our CEO, board, donors, supporters, portfolio partners and the wider sector to effect real change for young people.
This is an exciting time to join Impetus. The Director of Public Affairs will work with the CEO and Senior Management Team to raise our profile and influence policy, unlock and steward resource and build new partnerships, in order to facilitate growth in impact. They will do this by getting the most out of our high performing Public Affairs team, which covers policy, research, advocacy and communications - as well as working across teams and with the Board to ensure Impetus is well positioned externally.

Key responsibilities
Fundraising and income generation
- Work with Impetus CEO and SMT to support the delivery of the Impetus strategy and business plan and deliver the public affairs milestones to time and within budget.
- Champion and contribute to embedding equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) across all areas of Impetus' work, ensuring that EDI principles related to Impetus’ mission are reflected in advocacy, stakeholder engagement, communications and public positioning.
- Vision setting and strong line management of the Public Affairs team, developing their capabilities, representing the team at SMT and to the Board and ensuring it continues to make a valuable - and valued - contribution to the achievement of Impetus’s objectives, through building and implementing high quality work plans for the team and ensuring the wider Impetus team is aligned on these.
- Increase awareness, understanding and trust in Impetus among key stakeholders, through regular, thoughtful engagement with the sector and securing high profile media coverage.
- Raise awareness of the education and employment gaps faced by young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and what we can do to break down the barriers they face - through research, policy positioning and effective communications.
- Build a positive reputation for Impetus in government and parliament and among funders, as a source of expertise on how to improve the education and employment outcomes of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and as a trusted interlocutor and partner, building on and leveraging the many relationships already established.
- Ensure that all advocacy is supported by high quality research and evidence, with our policy and research agenda well aligned to supporting the delivery of Impetus’ strategy.

About Global Disability Innovation Hub (GDI Hub)

We are a world leading delivery and practice centre, an Academic Research Centre at UCL (University College London) and the first WHO Global Collaborating Centre on Assistive Technology (AT). We work in 40+ countries, with a reach of more than 64 million people since 2016, GDI Hub develops homegrown technologies alongside new knowledge and research.
In collaboration with global partners, we deliver accelerators and market shaping initiatives - building ecosystems with a focus on low-and middle-income countries. An Academic Research Centre and a Community Interest Company, our diverse portfolio and unique set up enables rapid translation of research into practice.
Launched in 2016 as a legacy of the London 2012 Paralympic Games, our office and research lab continue to be based on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, at UCL’s East London campus. Role Purpose
This role is focused on maximising comms-based engagement across the GDI Hub’s portfolio, supporting GDI Hub’s growing outreach and impact.
The post holder will work closely across GDI Hub comms team to support communications delivery across the organisational portfolio – with a focus on key regular outputs, creative content, websites, reactive queries and organisational communications. This role will involve both administrative tasks, and creative content generation, at an anticipated volume of 50% per area.
The post holder will also provide key communications and engagement support for the Disabled Leaders Network. Run by the GDI Hub, the Disabled Leaders Network is a member led, dynamic group of emerging global talent. Communications support includes digital events, managing social media and the network channels, and regular newsletters.
Across all elements of the role, the successful candidate will need to work collaboratively and dynamically. Responsibilities will include creative content generation, design, copy writing, film/photography, newsletters - alongside more administration and operational activities such as enquiry response, proof reading, and website updates. This role will work closely alongside members of the GDI Hub team, with some interactions with external partners, collaborators and stakeholders. This role will also support with event delivery – digital and in person.
We are looking for a candidate with strong administrative, communications and digital skills, including experience with social media and design. The candidate will need to deliver public facing communication outputs, while also building personable relationships. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment is essential, as it a streamlined, can-do approach.

This new role is essential to the success of the Finance & Fundraising teams, in providing effective finance and CRM administration support. We are looking for an awesome conference producer to grow our in person events offering for our community of Pupil Premium Leads across the 1,700 secondary schools in our network
Your role will be to produce face to face conferences that provide them honest, open and trusting spaces to share how they really achieve their results in practice.

What's the role?
Your job will be to produce in person conferences, with a difference, for Pupil Premium Leads in
Events where practitioners don’t just share what’s worked but also what hasn’t. Openly and transparently.
The aim is to curate powerful and practical warts and all stories, which attendees can ask questions about and dig deep into each other's work.

- Glossy key notes delivered by non serving leaders telling serving leaders what to do
- Only sharing their successes
- Surface level panels that don’t say anything of substance about how leaders do what they do
- Lots of passive sitting and listening in big audiences
- Not developing deep and lasting relationships between attendees
- Where the events are geared entirely towards promoting products and services more than the amazing PPM leaders and their practice

What experience and track record do you have?

Education and/or teaching: Knowing how the MAT and schools system works is a must. Knowing who does what PPM role in schools will help bring the right people in the right conversations and the right time. Knowing and understanding the kinds of problems and types of conversations school leaders and teachers is also essential for this role

Conference production: researching topics, inviting and booking speakers, crafting promotional materials, shouting loudly and proudly about the events and filling up spaces.

Project management: Planning, tracking and delivering on project objectives across several workflows on time, every time. Managing multiple audiences who are likely to be at different stages of their engagement cycle.

Customer Relationship Management: designing, building and automating CRMs including sales pipeline design and management eg Hubspot and Airtable

Copywriting (and digital marketing and email workflow design): designing and writing posts and emails that convert - whether than be speaker invitations, promotional posts or conference onboarding emails.

Digital marketing integration and automation: integrating and automating digital marketing platforms like eg MailChmip, Hubspot, Airtable and Zapier. Automating drip campaigns and email workflows.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, motivate and develop the Data and Insight team to provide expert support across the Association.
- Line manage 3 direct reports.
- Work with stakeholders to set priorities and agree deliverables.
- Oversee workflows to ensure deadlines and service level agreements are met.
- Maintain and continuously improve data quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with legislation including the General Data Protection Regulations.

About You:

- Skilled in resolving complex data protection challenges.
- Experienced in campaign and database analysis and management using advanced tools such as MS Dynamics, FastStats and SQL.
