We are looking to recruit a Communications Volunteer for the North Tyneside Group. As our Communications Volunteer you’ll make sure people know they have a local MS Society group to turn to.

In this role you’ll be able to develop your writing skills, and gain an experience of communicating across a range of digital channels.

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best, whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! What we need from you

This is a really flexible role, you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example: 

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 

• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

Time expectation

This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments to suit you. You’ll be part of a team raising vital funds while having fun in the process!

Fundraising & Development Lead

Purpose: Drives all fundraising efforts including donor engagement, grant applications, and funding partnerships

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify and pursue funding opportunities from trusts, foundations, institutions, and individuals.
• Write and manage grant applications and donor reports.

We invest in community events and digital, low-cost mental health tools for early parenting families, ensuring the content is stigma-free and culturally aligned to the communities we serve locally & nationally.

Social Media Manager

Help build a digital village for moms and families navigating postpartum and beyond. Hive Impact Fund is a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to improving access to resources for mothers and families—particularly during the postpartum period and within underserved communities. Through storytelling, education, and community-building, we aim to make maternal and family wellness more equitable.

We’re seeking a creative, strategic, and heart-led Social Media Manager to grow our online presence and deepen engagement across Instagram and Pinterest. If you love creating meaningful content and care deeply about women’s and family health, we’d love to hear from you.

**Note: this position is not paid though there is potential in the future**

What You’ll Do

• Develop and execute a thoughtful social media strategy that amplifies our mission and strengthens our community voice.
• Create informative, compassionate, and visually engaging content on maternal health, postpartum care, and family wellness.
• Manage a campaign-based posting cadence:
  • 2 posts per week on Instagram only
    • 1 repost user-generated content (UGC) with theme tied to current campaign
    • 1 static post or carousel per week that reinforces our brand message and current campaign
• Support 4 quarterly campaigns (each with ~6-week runtimes), ensuring consistent storytelling and audience engagement.
• Use analytics to monitor performance, track growth, and adapt content strategy based on insights.
• Collaborate closely with our remote team to maintain consistent visuals, tone, and messaging aligned with our brand guide.
• Stay informed on trends in women’s health, community wellness, and nonprofit marketing to keep content relevant and impactful.

You’re a Great Fit If You Have

• 2+ years of experience managing social media for a brand, nonprofit, or mission-driven organization.
• Proven success in growing and engaging online communities.
• Strong understanding of social media best practices, analytics, and platform algorithms.
• A passion for women’s health, family wellness, and social impact.
• Excellent writing and storytelling skills—especially translating complex health topics into relatable posts.
• Proficiency with Canva or similar design tools to create visually appealing, on-brand content.
• A collaborative spirit and comfort working remotely with a small, dynamic team across the U.S.

What will you be doing?

For nearly 50 years, Stroud Women’s Refuge provides safety and independence for women and children from around the UK whose lives have been impacted by domestic abuse.

We currently operate two refuge properties in Stroud, where women and their children can escape danger and begin recovery in a safe, supportive environment. Alongside safe accommodation, we offer specialist frontline support, advocacy, and help with accessing healthcare, education, housing, and financial advice.

We are now entering an exciting phase, with plans to expand our provision and reach more people in need. We are seeking Trustees who can help raise our profile, strengthen our voice, and guide us toward a stronger future. 

As a Trustee you will provide leadership, oversight, and governance to ensure the charity operates effectively and fulfills its mission. 

Time commitment: We recognise that trustees are volunteers and value flexibility. On average, most trustees contribute 4-6 hours per month, though some give more during busy periods or if they take on additional responsibilities.

What are we looking for?

Our focus is to strengthen our capacity in communications, marketing, PR, social media and and individual and corporate giving. In particular, we are looking for individuals who can:

• Guide us in developing a strategic communications approach, including profile-raising campaigns.
• Advise on the use of social media and digital platforms, helping us target audiences more effectively.
• Advise us in developing strategies for individual and corporate giving, helping to diversify and grow our income base.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of our communication channels and suggest improvements.
• Support the organisation in crafting sensitive messaging around complex or potentially controversial issues, particularly in areas relating to domestic abuse and service provision.
• Help us balance visibility with safety, raising awareness while protecting the anonymity and security of our users.

World Jewish Relief created the Specialist Training and Employment Programme (STEP) for refugees in 2016 and today we are the largest provider of specialist employment support to refugees in the UK.STEP aims to support and empower people with experience of forced migration through a tailored employment programme that addresses the complex barriers refugees face in preparing for, and ultimately finding, work in the UK.

We are looking to expand our Experts by Experience advisory board for STEP, made up of volunteer board members who are experts by experience (EbE). The STEP EbE Advisory Board is a structured and collaborative way for World Jewish Relief to engage with external advisors (in this case, volunteer board members) to advise and help on programme design and decision-making. The members of our advisory board support our programmes with their knowledge and expertise to offer more specific help and ideas in managing different aspects of STEP. 

We are now recruiting for a further 3 board members who are of Ukrainian nationality or Hong Kong BNO status / visa holder as we are launching a new STEP programme supporting these communities. 

The board members’ responsibilities will vary depending on the topic of advice in discussion, however, suggested activities include:

• Board member meetings to discuss ideas and create recommendations
• Group and 1:2:1s meetings with STEP stakeholders (employment advisors, participants, WJR board, partners)
• Document reviews (e.g. programme materials)
• Presenting recommendations in different formats (e.g writing, speaking)
• Attending optional training sessions chosen by the board

About you

Full training and ongoing support will be provided for this role, so you do not need experience. We are looking for board members who:

• Have lived experience of forced migration i.e. refugee status, humanitarian protection, people seeking asylum, and Ukrainian extension scheme
• Are of Ukrainian nationality or Hong Kong BNO status/visa holder
• Have intermediate and above understanding of English (B1+)
• Can commit to 2-4 hours a month
• Comfortable with IT, training can be provided
• Board members can have experience of being on STEP as a participant, but it is not a requirement. We aim for there to be a mix of experience with STEP on the board.

• Equipment: We will provide any IT/ Digital Access equipment needed for the role.
• Induction training and materials will be provided as well as other training as requested by board members.
