Being Head of Fundraising at St Wilfrid’s

As Head of Fundraising, you’ll be leading an incredible team of 12 dedicated fundraising staff who, along with the support of our event volunteers, work tirelessly to support our Hospice. Their dedication to, and care for, our supporters generates over £4 million annually, which is vital for funding our care.

This role is pivotal in ensuring our fundraising department thrives, and you will be responsible for balancing income generation with cost control, team leadership, and collaborating closely with our marketing and retail heads as one of our department leads. The team will be stewarding our amazing supporters and donors across fundraising areas such as Events, Community, Gifts in Wills, Corporate, Individual Giving, Trusts and Foundations, and Philanthropy.

Experience at a senior level in managing a varied and innovative fundraising environment, with a £2 million+ turnover, is crucial. But, more importantly, you must have a passion, and drive, for empowering teams and achieving meaningful results. We are recruiting for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to join our Finance Team in the role of Finance Assistant.

The Finance Assistant supports all aspects of the Hallé’s work at the Bridgewater Hall, the Hallé Venues and concert halls across the UK.

The Finance Assistant works in a department currently comprising Finance Director, Finance Manager, Assistant Finance Manager and Finance Assistant.

The department is responsible for all aspects of the financial affairs of the Society and its related trusts. The Finance Assistant is responsible to the Assistant Finance Manager.

They take responsibility for processing the day-to-day transactions of the company across purchase ledger, sales ledger and the cash book, and ensure the smooth operation of the office. They will also need to work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider Hallé as well as with external customers and suppliers.

The post is full-time permanent based on a 36.25-hour week. Our core office hours are 09.00-17:15, from Monday to Friday. There is an option to work up to 50% of hours from home.

We are seeking an experienced community engagement professional with a demonstrable track record of team leadership, inspiring education and engagement outcomes and successful grant fundraising.

The Head of Engagement will provide maternity cover for approximately 13 months and work as part of the Senior Leadership Team at SERT to drive how we influence, engage and empower people and communities to value and protect rivers in the South East.

You will bring passion for our cause and demonstrable experience in delivering inspiring outcomes from education and engagement projects and programmes. You will drive the further development of our Engagement Strategy with innovation and creativity, securing external funding to deliver against the Trust’s strategy and ambition.

Role Summary

The Resources Coordinator role sits within the learning content creation team, which is responsible for the devising, commissioning and delivering of high quality, film-focused learning opportunities. These include the production of resources and online courses for teachers and their learners which are made available on our website, Into Film+ (our video-on-demand platform) and on our learning platform. 

Main Responsibilities 

• To produce high quality, exciting and engaging resources for educators and young people, including commercial resources for film industry clients. 
• To contribute to the planning and evaluation of resources within our three key areas of work: Teaching with Film, Careers and Progression, and Filmmaking
• To project manage the resource process from initiation to publication or delivery.
• To assist the corporate partnerships team by contributing to pitches for educational resources with partners to support new film releases. 
• To contribute to the development of courses aimed at educators via our online learning platform.
• To evaluate resources, training, online materials and related areas of organisational interest through surveys, focus groups and other methods, to identify and implement changes and programme developments that meet Into Film’s and our audiences’ needs and priorities.

About the organisation

The Environment Investigation Agency investigate and campaign against environmental crime and abuse. Their undercover investigations expose transnational wildlife crime, with a focus on elephants and tigers, and forest crimes such as illegal logging and deforestation for cash crops like palm oil. The EIA work to safeguard global marine ecosystems by addressing the threats posed by plastic pollution, bycatch and commercial exploitation of whales, dolphins and porpoises. The Role

The fundraising team at EIA, is responsible for raising income across trusts and statutory funders, as well as raising funds from individuals. The income raised from public fundraising has increased in recent years and they are investing in this area to further increase unrestricted income so that we can conduct even more investigative and campaigning work to protect our natural world.

It is an exciting time to join EIA, as we embark on a new organisational strategy and a new fundraising strategy. This role is crucial to our ambitious plans to step change our public fundraising and ensure the best possible experience for all of our supporters. Responsibilities:

This is a senior role in an expanding organisation and is closely aligned with our growth and capital development ambitions with the next three years focused on capital fundraising alongside strategic project development.

The postholder will work closely with and report to the Chief Executive, you will also have a close working relationship with the Executive Director (Programme and Impact) to ensure the resources are in place to fulfil our programme ambitions. You will support the charity’s trustees to be effective champions of our work.

Job Title: Kooth Engagement Lead

Please note this role involves travel to schools and other engagements across the territory above. Our Engagement Leads work from home otherwise.

Role Objective

To raise awareness and promote Kooth to children and young people (and/or Qwell to adults) by engaging with trusted referrers including schools, colleges, GPs, A&E, pharmacies, community groups, sports clubs and charities. This role involves weekly travel.

Main responsibilities: 

Promote Kooth to young people in schools and colleges

• Maintain an up to date, comprehensive database of all secondary schools and FE/ Sixth Form colleges in contract area(s)
• Maintain an up to date, comprehensive database of all GP surgeries and medical centres in contract area(s)
• All new contacts including local service providers and voluntary organisations to be uploaded into Salesforce
• Prioritise engagement of at least the top 25% of all secondary schools and colleges that are the largest (no. of students) in contract areas
• Prioritise engagement of at least the top 25% of all secondary schools and colleges that are the most deprived (pupil premium)
• Take a strategic approach to diary management and planning outreach to maximise reach and engagement across whole contract area(s)
• Use monthly data to assess and evolve your approach to maximise effectiveness of your local engagement - for all age groups, localities and demographics

Inform and promote Kooth (and Qwell where applicable) to referrers

• Engage education, healthcare & local community professionals to encourage them to refer young people to Kooth (and for Qwell to use for themselves or refer adults) 
• Embed Kooth across contract geographical area and demonstrate engagement with a breadth of different referrers
• Encourage parents/carers to tell their child about Kooth (and that Qwell is available for them where applicable)
• Demonstrate knowledge in the specific reasons why Kooth compliments referrer needs (our key ‘selling’ points) e.g.
  • for education professionals: out of school mental health support, aligns with Ofsted assessment criteria, positive mental well being improves education outcomes, specific support for students around exams
  • for healthcare professionals: reducing the 8am rush at GPs, taking the pressure off other care pathways and mental health waiting lists, NHS cost savings, supporting crisis step down, reduce A&E presentations, providing equity of access with our whole population service 
• Build confidence and skills in presenting to and engaging a professional audience of broad disciplinary backgrounds
• Regular recording (weekly) of all new contacts and activity/ engagement of CYP and professionals on Salesforce
• Host stalls at high footfall public events, including Freshers Fairs, and attend key regional network and partnership meetings to support and promote Kooth (and Qwell where appropriate)
• Organise, present or support national & regional KoothTalks Training webinars to professionals and national webinars to CYP when requested
• Follow up all requests from local referrers who attended a national webinar in a timely manner

Manage the distribution of promotional materials

• Send monthly newsletters, printed promotional materials and/or digital resource packs to all referrer contacts
• Email the correct tailored newsletter to referrer contacts in a timely manner every month
• Manage the ordering and distribution of printed promotional materials within the monthly credits allocate
• Ensure the appropriate digital assets and links to referrer information hubs are included in all external referrer communications

Raise awareness via social media 

• Promote Kooth (and Qwell where applicable) via local social media networks to teachers, parents, healthcare professionals and local organisations
• Regularly post information about Kooth to local networks on LinkedIn, Meta and Twitter
• Quarterly - aim to post a video or story about Kooth on Instagram or TikTok

Requirements

Technical Skills

• Experienced presenter and communicator to young people, confident talking to large groups of 11 - 18 year olds in a face to face setting
• Efficiently manage own time and engagement commitments
• Able to source and build relationships with professionals in education, primary care and voluntary sectors
• Experienced presenter and communicator to adults in a professional capacity
• Able to review output and outcomes and see where improvements can be made by analysing data
• Understand how to create and use excel spreadsheets and/or data-recording systems such as SalesForce
