Domestic Abuse Volunteer Coordinator Jobs

This role is part of the Wiltshire Domestic Abuse Team, which provides support to people and their families who have been impacted by domestic abuse.

Working closely with the wider Wiltshire Team your key responsibilities will be: 

• To co-ordinate the delivery of group work programmes. 
• To facilitate and deliver group work programmes. 
• Assess participants’ suitability for programmes. 
• To monitor waiting lists, with a focus on risk management and safeguarding. 
• To support group facilitators to deliver programmes. 
• To lead on the development of new programmes . 
• To review current programmes and continue development as required.

Key responsibilities:  

• Act as the main point of contact regarding group-work provision.
• To ensure groups are monitored with consideration of outcomes, and support the Team Manager to pull data as requested. 
• To deliver group-work programmes both virtually and face-to-face. 
• To promptly assess all group referrals and manage waiting lists. 
• To undertake risk assessments and agree risk management / safety plans where required. 
• To provide support to group facilitators and feedback to their line managers where required. 
• Stay abreast of developments in best practice, legislative and other changes, and integrate them into day-to-day work and the development of strategies and plans. 
• To chair regular facilitator meetings, ensuring that minutes are taken and disseminated and that there is regular attendance by the workers. 
• To identify areas of training need and co-ordinate in-house training for the staff or signpost to appropriate providers.
• To make recommendations to Team Manager about the best use of resources. 
• Coordinate resources and activities to serve the needs of service users to ensure a seamless, co-ordinated response. 
• To analyse data generated and evaluate groups, producing verbal/written reports as required. 
• To support the on going develop of programmes offered.
• To work closely with other teams to ensure the best possible outcome for clients. 
• To prioritise client need by risk, vulnerability and safeguarding. 
• To ensure that accurate and appropriate notes are recorded after each group work session and any other contact with clients.
• To work with due regard to diversity, ensuring groups are inclusive and accessible. 
• Plan group delivery rotas. 
• To work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure volunteers are in place to run groups. This will include feeding back to the Volunteer Coordinator on the volunteers progress to inform line management.
• To provide line management to sessional group workers. 
• To support peoples continuing professional development. 
• Alongside the Team Manager, ensure the service meets regulatory and best practice requirements. 

General 

• Remain up to date and concordant with organisational procedures, policies and professional code of conduct, upholding standards of best practice. 
• Attend and contribute to team meetings. 
• Contribute to effective team working with a flexible and pro-active approach, including cover for other team members’ holidays and sickness where required. 
• Undertake agreed training and keep updated on changes in legislation, policy, and best practice 
• To support additional duties at your team managers discretion.

Are you an experienced and enthusiastic Safeguarding professional with a strong interest in protecting adults at risk and children from within the wider Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Community?

Based within our Helpline Services team, you’ll have responsibility for:

• responding to concerns reported by staff and volunteers
• leading the coordination of responding to safeguarding concerns
• dealing with safeguarding issues (as they arise) and liaising with statutory services as needed
• giving advice and support to colleagues and our volunteers in relation to safeguarding and disclosure checking
• working collaboratively with colleagues across the MS Society
• liaising with external safeguarding agencies
• embedding organisational safeguarding policies, procedures and practices.

You’ll have experience of working in a safeguarding customer-facing environment within the Charity or Public Service sectors. You’ll have proficient administrative and IT skills with the ability to work accurately and consistently. You’ll ideally have had experience in supporting vulnerable people in person, over the phone and/or online. 

An understanding of safeguarding within the charity or public service sectors is essential. 

A satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) Check without barring list check will need to be obtained to undertake this role.

About the role:

The MARAC Administrator will support the MARAC Coordinator in the administering the MARAC process.  The post holder will be co-located in Brent and will be required to attend MARAC meetings in various locations as required. There will also be a requirement to attend Advance’s Headoffice

The MARAC Administrator will process MARAC referrals and flag to the MARAC Coordinator any referrals that have insufficient information or may not meet the MARAC threshold.  The post holder will also compile the MARAC At Risk List for approval by the MARAC Coordinator, including case details of survivors and perpetrators who will be discussed at the MARAC. 

About You:

To be successful as the MARAC Administrator you will need the below experience and skills:

An understanding of violence against women and girls with a particular focus on the dynamics of domestic violence (physical, emotional and sexual violence, so-called ‘honour-based violence’, forced marriage, stalking and harassment) and its impact on women, children, families and communities.

Experience of office management and administration roles and experience of maintaining data systems and producing regular monitoring reports

Accurate and methodical approach to dealing with data processing, filing systems, facts and figures

Excellent literary and administrative skills including ability in information technology, data collection and in-depth working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word

Good interpersonal and communication skills

The ability to be flexible, working as a team or independently as required to support the service and colleagues

An ability to work in partnership with relevant statutory and voluntary groups, to demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain strong constructive working relationships

An ability to cope in stressful situations; able to multi-task and prioritise, remaining calm under pressure

About LMK

Good relationships shape our health and happiness, yet we are taught so little about them. LMK is a registered education charity on a mission to change that. We run workshops educating young people about healthy and unhealthy behaviours, so that they can avoid abuse and thrive in relationships. 

Using film and guided discussions, our workshop leaders support children and young people in honest conversations about relationships and leave them better equipped to spot the early warning signs of abuse and inspire them to enjoy healthy, fulfilling relationships.  We explore the 10 signs of healthy and unhealthy relationships and include practical lessons young people want to learn about (like consent) and practice scenarios in a safe, supportive and non-judgmental environment. 

LMK is a learning organisation and prides itself in supporting leaders to develop their skills. We offer training and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) opportunities, as well as peer-to-peer learning and reflective practice sessions.

Job Description 

LMK is looking for passionate and organised educators (LMK Leaders) to run community workshops, aimed at young people aged between 11 and 24. Through engaging, relatable, workshops you will help young people identify signs of healthy and unhealthy relationship behaviours, provide strategies for them to recognise the early warning signs of abuse and give them tools to keep themselves and their friends safe. 

The minimum hours required per workshop is 3 hrs. This includes arriving 30 minutes before delivery, 1.5 to 2 hrs delivery and then remaining back 10 minutes and being accessible to young people who would like further information or a one-to-one conversation, surrounding the subject of relationships.

There is also 30 minutes admin, which is usually completed off-site, such as inputting student surveys and a Leader survey.

Responsibilities 

• Always adhere to LMK and partner safeguarding practices and procedures.

• Respond to comms (emails/WhatsApp) sent out by LMK core team members, in a timely manner, to support planning and organising of sessions.

• Meet with co-facilitators to carry out pre-session planning, minimum two working days before delivery.

• Plan and deliver interactive LMK workshops in educational, sports and community settings in line with LMK delivery style and ethos.

• Use your experience and knowledge of the issues affecting young people to tailor the workshops accordingly. 

• Ensure all youth participants and the adults in school/community organisations who attend a LMK workshop complete the post session feedback surveys.

• Complete reflective post session Leader surveys to support practice and programme development, after each workshop.

• Debrief with LMK’s Programme Manager and provide ongoing feedback about your sessions, through LMK’s reflective practice processes.

• Undertake relevant training associated with LMK’s work including but not restricted to child protection, safeguarding, violence against women and girls (VAWG).

• Continue to learn about and develop your skills on the issues affecting young people’s relationships including domestic violence, abuse, adverse childhood experiences, trauma informed practice, gang culture and grooming, mental health, sexual exploitation, consent, sharing of nudes /sexting, bullying in person and online, tech and online safety, pornography.

• Provide feedback and co-design training and educational resources on issues affecting young people and their relationships, including opportunities to share your knowledge and expertise at peer-to-peer learning sessions.

• Attend termly virtual Leader huddles to remain connected to peers and organisational values, mission, and purpose.

• Contribute towards and keep up to date with LMK internal/external communications platforms, such as LMK Newsletters and social media.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Extensive experience of teaching or working with young people (9 to 24 yrs old) in an educational, sports or community setting.

• Minimum 2 years’ experience co-designing, delivering and evaluating group sessions, consisting of minimum, of 12 and maximum of 30 participants.

• Experience or co-designing session plans and co-facilitating with others; able to collaborate equally with others.

• A strong commitment to young people and knowledge and understanding of issues affecting their relationships.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills with the ability to create a safe and non-judgmental space, that allows young people to speak freely about their relationships and experience.

• Strong emotional intelligence and the ability to deliver sensitive information whilst treating young people’s concerns with respect.

• Capable of maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries with young people, peers, and professionals.

• Able to adapt and be flexible in workshops to get the best engagement from a range of participants. 

• Skilled at facilitating virtual workshops and working with a selection of online portals.

This role is based within the Wiltshire DVPP (Domestic Violence Perpetrator Programme) Team which delivers domestic abuse services across Wiltshire.

This position is based within our Behaviour Change team and focuses on working with low to medium risk perpetrators of domestic abuse on a one-to-one basis, with the aim of supporting people to change their behavior.

In addition, you will support the delivery of the CPR (Choosing Positive Relationships) Domestic Violence Perpetrator Programme (DVPP), which is an intensive behaviour change programme, designed to increase knowledge and understanding around domestic abuse, the impact on children and healthy relationships. The course teaches tools and strategies to help someone change their behaviour. The CPR group will require weekly evening work in Wiltshire.

The key duties for this role are to:

• Co-facilitate the delivery of our CPR perpetrator group-work programme one evening per week.
• Deliver one to one support sessions for perpetrators based around: understanding domestic abuse, managing aggressive behavior, recognising the impact that abuse has on others.
• Work closely with the rest of the Behaviour Change to promote a ‘whole family approach’ to addressing domestic abuse and prioritise safety for the victim.
• Work closely with multi-agency partners, particularly Children’s Social Care, ensuring a focus on risk and safeguarding.

The post of Sessional Group Facilitator will provide support to victims of domestic abuse and sexual violence within group work provision.

At FearFree we run various trauma-informed groups for victims, such as: Empowering You, an educational domestic abuse online support group; Rediscovering You, a face-to-face emotional wellbeing recovery group; Inspiring Families, a ‘whole family’ approach to support; House to Home, supporting those having to flee domestic abuse; and a children’s and young person’s group work provision.

We are looking for experienced and motivated staff to join our team to help deliver the group work programmes we run around locations in Wiltshire. Groups run in the morning, afternoon and evening. Training for the groups will be provided.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• To facilitate group work provisions across the Wiltshire Service.
• A willingness and ability to facilitate groups in the evenings.
• Completing pre and post group assessments and required paperwork, following the procedures in place.
• Write comprehensive case notes following groups about service user involvement, any concerns raised and any action required.
• Identify and take the appropriate action on any disclosures or safeguarding concerns raised within the group with support from the Group Coordinator and/or Wiltshire Duty Manager.
• To work cohesively with a second facilitator both virtually and in person in locations around Wiltshire.
• A willingness and ability to travel around Wiltshire and access to a vehicle with business insurance.

Skills and Qualities

• Experience of working with victims of domestic abuse or sexual violence, or the willingness to increase knowledge and skills in this area.
• Experience of working with vulnerable people.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience running groups, including listening skills, a good sense of timing, sensitivity to overall group dynamics, maintaining group safety and practical elements such as ensuring course material is delivered.
• A willingness to participate in in-house training, including group observation.

General

• Attend supervision as required,
• Attend and contribute to team meetings as required.
• Ensure service user records are kept up to date.
• Contribute to effective team working with a flexible and pro-active approach, including cover for other team members’ holidays and sickness.
• Undertake agreed training and keep updated on changes in legislation, policy and best practice.

Bonny Downs Community Association has been working together to change lives and transform our community since 1998. Over the past 25 years our team has grown to provide a wide array of services that benefit Newham residents from all walks of life. 

This role is specifically funded through the Youth Endowment fund as a pilot project ‘Thriving Communities’. You will be required to work alongside Thriving Communities commissioners, as well as the project’s Youth Justice Worker’s, Educational Psychologist, and/or professionals assigned to individual young people’s cases- such as teachers, social workers and mentors. The Thriving Communities project is a small part of a wider collaborative project, EMPOWER YOUTH, delivered by two partner charities so, although this position is based at BDCA, you will be working closely with a second East Ham Youth Partnership Project lead and team of Sessional Assistants based at nearby charity The Renewal Programme (TRP). Staff from each organisation will work together to deliver the programme and cross-refer young people to activities led by both teams. You will also be required to work with BDCA’s own Children & Families team during the summer scheme and liaise with our marketing team all year round. External partner agencies that you will work directly with include Thriving Communities panel, Newham Youth Empowerment Service, Newham Community Engagement Team, local sports clubs and schools.

This role will involve office based working at WGN sites in Shepherd’s Bush as well as travel across London, community based and remote working.

Women and Girls Network (WGN) was established in 1987 and has spent over 30 years supporting women and girls across London affected by gendered violence. This includes childhood sexual abuse, domestic violence, rape, prostitution (including trafficking and sexual exploitation), female genital mutilation (FGM), and so-called 'honour' based crimes such as forced marriage.

Our goal is to promote, preserve, and restore the mental health and wellbeing of women and girls, to empower them to make a total and sustainable recovery from the experiences of violence.

About the role

We are now looking for an experienced and innovative individual to support the engagement and outreach of our Young Women’s Service.

The successful candidate will be experienced in developing and delivering creative Gender Based Violence (GBV) prevention programs and confident to successfully engage young women in a wide range of settings including schools, colleges, youth programs & pupil referral units to raise awareness, challenge and positively influence the attitudes and behaviours that normalise GBV in this peer group. You will receive training on delivering GBV Resilience Programs that build psychological and emotional resilience in young people (YP) to strengthen protective factors to promote positive mental and emotional well-being in YP. You will co-produce and deliver training and awareness raising work for professionals, including first responders and managers in GBV related services / mental health provisions, educational centres and non-abusing family members and carers to facilitate appropriate response towards YP at risk. 

About you

You will therefore be skilled in nurturing and developing YP voices and active engagement within such forums. You will be skilled at working alongside young women with an acute awareness of how to successfully co-create and co-deliver training packages to professionals and the wider community, thus centralising YP as the leaders and change agents in the project.
