We rebuild tropical fisheries with coastal communities

Blue Ventures develops locally-led approaches to marine management that benefit people and nature alike. By listening and responding to basic needs, we design our models to catalyse and sustain marine conservation, unlocking the potential of coastal communities to manage their resources. We work in places where the ocean is vital to local cultures and economies, and are committed to advancing the rights of small-scale fishers throughout the coastal tropics.

Summary Job Description

We are currently recruiting an experienced fundraising professional to lead Blue Ventures’ fundraising and development efforts.  The position will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our fundraising and development to nurture high-value funding relationships and secure resources to support growth of our work and impact.

The role will be a pivotal position within our global leadership team, working closely with senior managers, field colleagues, donors and partner organisations to ensure the effective resourcing of high impact, scalable marine conservation initiatives.

We’re looking for someone with excellent leadership and partnership development experience, a high degree of emotional intelligence, and sensitivity to the needs of high-value donor relationships.  At the same time, you will be attuned to the needs and interests of colleagues and partner communities and organisations.

We are seeking a passionate, articulate and highly motivated individual who will be pragmatic, resourceful and entrepreneurial in identifying and pursuing opportunities for future funding partnerships.

The successful candidate will be an accomplished communicator, showing originality, crisp writing, and clarity of thought in your written work.  You will demonstrate an ability to write compelling pitches and to communicate complex environmental and development issues clearly.

You will thrive in environments that are dynamic, fast-paced, collegiate and ambitious, and have a proven track record of communicating effectively and professionally with funders, delivering high quality written work and managing competing priorities to meet deadlines reliably.

You will be able to lead a team of highly skilled fundraisers, ensuring staff have opportunities to undertake new and rewarding work, while balancing personal and professional commitments.

The role entails working as part of an interdisciplinary and international team, with excellent opportunities for professional development. The successful candidate will report to Blue Ventures’ Executive Director, and will be based in one of our UK offices in London or Bristol, with occasional overseas travel to work with partners and field teams.

Application Process

Applicants should apply online, using the form below, by 18th October 2019.

Please note that applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and first-round interviews may be conducted with short-listed candidates before the application deadline.

All shortlisted candidates will be contacted within two weeks of the closing date.
