The ideal candidate

To be considered for this role, you should be able to:

• Navigating the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, working with people who have a higher complexity in substance use and need additional support from multiple services.
• To work in a trauma informed and person centred way, empowering the client to make informed choices around their care and support
• Conducting street outreach with partner agencies to identify and locate people on your caseloads, who are sleeping rough.
• Managing a caseload of clients
• Attending partner agency meetings relating to rough sleeping & hotspots in the borough.
• Providing targeted harm reduction advice and information to individuals around the risks associated with drug or alcohol use and supporting people to improve their health and wellbeing.
• Signposting individuals to other support services inclusive of substance use, based on individual need.
• Removing the stigma of homelessness and for those who use substances and/or alcohol
• Breaking the barriers of which people experiencing homelessness face, when trying to access needed services

The Hepatitis C Trust runs national projects where peers draw on their lived experience of drug use and hepatitis C to support others. We are now recruiting for a new and exciting role to join our growing Wales team. 

As part of an experienced team, working alongside local drug treatment systems (drug and alcohol services) this role will promote hepatitis C awareness, deliver blood borne virus testing and referral and support to hepatitis C treatment. 

The role will support volunteer peers and increase the project’s reach to underserved communities. You’ll be providing vital harm reduction interventions including needle, syringe and naloxone provision across Cwm Taf Morgannwg area.

Are you passionate about supporting families with the guidance and support their need to live within the community and thrive as a family? We are recruiting for a Therapeutic Worker to join our specialist Family Residential Service in Sheffield. The service provides drug and alcohol recovery support for parents and their children in a residential setting.

 The Role

Your role in our therapeutic community will be key. You’ll manage a caseload, assess the people who use our service and manage their care plans. It will mean developing and applying a range of therapeutic approaches to meet their individual needs, whether that’s employment, education, health, or their ability to interact socially. You’ll be the one who sees that everything is coordinated from the moment they’re referred to us to the time that they leave.

As a Therapeutic Worker, you will support individuals accessing the residential rehabilitation programme to achieve outcomes that help create long-term recovery. Using the Therapeutic Community “community as method” model you will empower individuals, families and communities to be confident about recovery.

You will support the day to day running of the therapeutic community, ensuring service user needs are met and the best possible care is provided in an environment that promotes a culture of recovery in line with a recovery orientated system of care and the Quality Principles. Managing a service user case load, providing end-to-end care co-ordination from admission to discharge planning ensuring care plans meet the needs of both service users and stakeholders. Whilst also being confident to deliver therapeutic groups, activities, and specialised interventions in accordance with the TC manual and the needs of the service. 

Previous experience is desirable, however not essential. Support Workers come from many different backgrounds and experiences, and you may have the skills required. We are seeking dedicated individuals, based on your values, willingness to learn new skills and the compassion to deliver the best service possible to our residents.

This is a full-time role, working an average of 37.5 hours per week. You will be expected to work a 6-week rolling rota which includes evening and weekend working.

The service is based close to Eccelsall Road/Sheffield Hallam Collegiate Campus area of Sheffield, it is easily accessible. Situated in a large Victorian Building, fully refurbished in 2022, there is free on-site parking as well and is also easily access by multiple bus routes.

About You

You will need: 

• An understanding of the complex issues presented by individuals within drug and alcohol recovery.
• Experience of working with families, and individuals in the substance use sector or related field.
• The ability to be innovative and be flexible in order to meet the needs of the service. 
• Be able to work effectively with multi-agencies, whilst maintaining the excellent reputation of the service. 
• Knowledge of adult and child protection and safeguarding essential as you will be working with vulnerable families in a residential setting.

Floating Support Worker

We have a new role available for a Floating Support Worker to work with vulnerable Adults across the seven West London Boroughs to support them maintaining tenancies after time experiencing homelessness.

Position: Floating Support Worker

Salary: £27,636 Per Annum (ILW) Plus Pension and Other Benefits

About the Role

As a Floating Support Worker, you will work with adults who have experienced homelessness to help them maintain their accommodation and improve their quality of life. Supporting people across the seven West London boroughs, you’ll provide tailored, person-centred support that empowers people to live more independently.

Key Deliverables include:

• Interview and assess clients in order to determine suitability for the service.

• Following initial assessment to go through a programme of work with clients accepted to cover accommodation needs, independent living skills, support with work and learning and social and emotional issues, then subsequent referrals to relevant agencies.

• Where clients have moved in to accommodation, the worker will provide support through a programme of regular visits.  These may include support and advice or more structured life-skills training as required.

• To be available to deal with clients who need help or advice, either by phone or on a drop-in basis.

• Create a package of support around the client, signposting where appropriate.

• To be available to represent Depaul UK at meetings concerning the client, supporting or advocating on their behalf.

• Keep clear and relevant records and statistics, and to ensure good communication with the project workers and project evaluators.

• Make a positive contribution to team meetings, Case management meetings and make a contribution to any policy reviews and consultations.

About You

You’ll be committed to supporting vulnerable people to build their confidence and independence. You’ll also bring:

• Able to work on own initiative but at same time able to exercise sound judgement in knowing when to consult with peers and clients to meet the service KPI’s

• A clear understanding and ability to implement risk management, information sharing and data security arrangements.

• Awareness of and commitment to equal opportunity and diversity practise. Ability to promote and implement diversity practice and policies and treat colleagues and clients fairly and with respect.

• Demonstrate ability to use IT to a level which will enable high quality reporting to be carried out. This should include an ability to use data capture systems including running queries and reports.

• Experience of helping vulnerable people with setting up benefits and maintaining their accommodation, especially people who have experienced homelessness.

• Experience of working with people who are categorized as vulnerable or have complex needs such as mental health issues, drug and alcohol misuse, domestic violence and offending behavior. (this list is not exhaustive)

• Knowledge and understanding of the criminal Justice system and benefits system.

• Able to demonstrate a clear understanding of safeguarding requirements and professional boundaries when working with vulnerable people.

We Are Survivors provide survivor-focused therapeutic and advocacy support to male (including Trans and Non-binary) victims/survivors, and their loved ones, of sexual harms. We have developed a three-tiered approach to services and underpin everything we do with a ‘trauma and recovery’ framework pioneered by Dr Judith Herman.

We are currently commissioned to deliver trauma-informed therapy services in 15 prisons across the Northwest of England and we require postings in our prisons across Merseyside, Lancaster and Cheshire. Please note we have no vacancies in our Greater Manchester prisons.

You will be a qualified counsellor / psychotherapist who holds at least a Diploma in Counselling / Psychotherapy or equivalent and be registered with BACP or equivalent (preferably an accredited member). You will understand issues relating to trauma, be able to work as part of a team and feel confident working in a prison setting. You will hold a full driving licence, have access to a vehicle and be within a reasonable commute to estates.

You will be able to lead peer-mentoring support to trauma-informed therapists, deliver trauma-informed therapeutic services, lead accurate clinical record keeping of therapeutic service interventions, lead the supervision of therapeutic services waiting lists and undertake specific therapeutic projects as directed by the Executive Team.
