Lambourne End Centre for Outdoor Learning invests in people and their potential. Established in 2004 and nicknamed the “54-acre classroom”, our work uses a unique combination of adventurous and environmental activities, a working farm and horticulture gardens to reconnect people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities with nature through outdoor learning.

Our mission is “to support people to overcome obstacles in life through nurturing them in nature, encouraging them in play and curiosity, challenging them in risk and adventure, and engaging them in outdoor learning.  Cultivating connections to the world around them, and inspiring positive lasting change.” 

The Centre is located in south west Essex and works with over 18,000 young people each year on a wide range of programmes that improve health and wellbeing and foster personal development, using our unique blend activities.  We do this by using the activities to generate a wide range of tailored programmes designed to encourage team building, problem solving and communication skills, as well as build confidence, enthuse and motivate, and raise aspirations.

Over the past ten years, the Centre has grown significantly its revenue, it’s profitability and its influence, such that it is now in a strong position and faces huge demand for its services.

The Role

As the Chair of Trustees, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring effective governance and strategic oversight. Working closely with the Board of Trustees and the Chief Executive, you will help steer the organisation toward its goals while upholding our values and ensuring accountability.  The role has become vacant due to the retirement of the current Chair.

Key Responsibilities

· Provide leadership to the Board of Trustees, fostering a culture of collaboration and inclusivity.

· Chair board meetings effectively, ensuring productive discussions and sound decision-making.

· Work with the Chief Executive Officer to set and review strategic priorities and objectives.

· Act as an ambassador for the organisation, representing its interests to stakeholders and communities.

· Support the recruitment and development of a diverse and skilled Board of Trustees.

· Oversee compliance with legal and regulatory obligations.

· Ensure the organisation remains financially sustainable and aligned with its mission.

Time Commitment and Term

The Chair of Trustees role is voluntary, though reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. The time commitment is approximately 10 hours/month, including board meetings, sub-committee involvement, and occasional events.

Company Secretary Weston Park Foundation (WPF)

About us

Who We Are

The Weston Park Foundation (WPF) is a charity governed by a Board of Trustees meeting twice yearly. The Foundation's assets run to many millions of pounds, with many of its treasures to be found within the House.  The Park is some 1,000 acres, including two Capability Brown landscapes.

WPF has a wholly owned and successful subsidiary, Weston Park Enterprises Ltd (WPEL), which trades at Weston: not just general tourism and visits, but a restaurant, cafe and an Art Gallery in the Granary, corporate hospitality, leisure and cultural tour residential stays in the House, major events in the Park, as well as six holiday rentals. 

Since its inception in 1986, the trustees have been able to restore the House and its possessions, the park, and the gardens to a condition not seen for centuries. Exciting new projects are in the pipeline aimed at increasing and diversifying income streams.

Role Overview

We are looking to appoint someone with relevant experience to act as Company Secretary to the Board of Trustees of WPF as well as sit on the Audit Committee.  In addition to support the role of CEO of the organisation in terms of corporate governance and best practices of the charity.

We are seeking an individual who is committed and passionate about heritage and the positive impact it can have on communities.

Skills and knowledge.

Experience of running or advising a commercial /quasi-commercial organisation or a charity is essential; as is an ability to cope with financial accounts and projections and strong knowledge of corporate governance.  Knowledge of charity law and procedure is not essential, but would be helpful.

A legal background will be useful, in terms of fulfilling the role of Company Secretary, closely monitoring ongoing developments in collaboration with the Chairman and the Chief Executive, all the while providing informed advice as needed.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, accompanied by a readiness to engage in constructive and collaborative decision-making is essential.

We would welcome guidance on various governance issues, which encompass key areas. 

-      Offering support and direction to the Chair of the Board, the Chief Executive Officer, and the Chair of the Audit Committee regarding their governance responsibilities, in alignment with established policies and best practices. Special care is taken in reviewing meeting minutes to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the records.

- Advising on procedural matters, including the delegation of powers

- Drafting terms of reference for committees

- Defining internal cross charge arrangements

- Hearing rare appeals related to dismissals or other employment claims

- Assisting with periodic tenders for professional services

- Committing to the promotion of diversity, equality, and inclusion, while fostering a culture of respect, learning, and understanding.

Commitment

The role of Company Secretary is voluntary but the postholder will receive an annual honorarium of £7k. Travel expenses for attending meetings can be covered if necessary. There are two Trustee Board meetings annually (Audit Committee meetings are held during these Board meetings) and five Executive Committee meetings. Active participation in this Committee is essential for strategic planning and related activities.

Application Process

The Weston Park Foundation is dedicated to fostering diverse and inclusive practices.  We invite applications from individuals who share our passion for preserving our charity's heritage.

The role: Our scholars are eager to meet graduates and professionals who can support them in achieving their ambitions. Mentors are mainly responsible for providing support and career advice to pupils. Mentors must also be committed to supporting us at our events, which take place in the evenings and on Saturdays throughout the term. These events include our scholar enrichment days, our parent and pupil information sessions and our volunteer social events which are held in London. 

Availability: Mentors must be available for approximately 2-3 hours a month to meet with their mentee, and discuss via phone, email or in person. There is a minimum commitment of one year (three terms).

In addition to this, you will need to support a minimum of 2 events throughout the year. Enrichment and skill-building events for our scholars usually take place in the evenings and at weekends, with events ranging from 2-8 hours in length.

Location: Mentoring sessions and events can take place online or in person.

Responsibilities: 

• Working collaboratively with parents to give students guidance and advice on how to achieve their aspirations

• Informing pupils of opportunities to them so that they can achieve their aspirations

• Meeting with pupils for one to one mentoring sessions

• Supporting pupils with university, sixth form or job applications

• Monitoring and reporting on each pupils progress

• Giving feedback to parents and programme coordinators

• Working collaboratively with other tutors and mentors

• Supporting at events including:

  • Collaborate effectively with other volunteers within the events team

  • Assist with setting up and clearing up at events

  • Support workshop facilitators with managing groups of young people or parents

  • Assist with the coordination of lunch or refreshments for attendees

  • Assist the event coordinator with ensuring the health and safety of attendees and overall risk management at events

  • Give feedback to the event coordinators and programme managers at the end of each event.

Do you live in Wales and want to gain valuable skills, have new experiences, and support vulnerable people?

We are offering 1 young person aged 18-25 the opportunity to volunteer for up to 11 months with the Portuguese Red Cross in Sanguedo, Portugal. Placements dates are planned to start as soon as possible for: August 2025 – July 2026 (subject to visas).

You will be supporting projects aimed at helping the local community and promoting youth involvement in social and environmental activities, which will give you the chance to explore the different kinds of social action that the Portuguese Red Cross undertake in Sanguedo. This is a great opportunity to get involved in these projects and find out what you are interested in. The main thing we want to see is your motivation for this placement!

Typical tasks may involve:

• Assisting the Social department: by supporting Social Centre activities such as assisting teachers with activities for children aged 3 to 5, befriending and developing activities for elderly service users and attending classes at the Senior University.
• Assisting the animal care department: liaising with different organisations involved in animal care (shelters, zoo and farm); assist in cleaning spaces and the animals, provide food and other necessities, as required.
• Supporting promotion and administration activities: the branch offers a wide range of the activities to the local community, and volunteers will take a lead in promoting these activities and volunteering overall to increase youth social participation. Volunteers will also assist with administrative tasks including sorting donations, and gifting or selling activities.

Please note that only young people based in Wales can apply for this role. Interviews will take place online with shortlisted candidates. 

We are keen to hear from individuals especially those who do not normally get the chance to volunteer overseas, who are passionate and motivated about working in the humanitarian sector and international volunteering but who also understand that these types of placements require adaptability and resilience.

We are especially interested in applications from those who are from low socio-economic backgrounds, are carers or are care experienced, have accessed free school meals, are refugees or asylum seekers and those with disabilities or additional needs.

Description: Generally, interns assist the Legal Director and Legal Project Managers with all aspects of preparatory work for the AIRE Centre's legal advice services and cases, including:

· Legal research in support of cases.

· Correspondence with the client, the court or other legal professionals.

· Accompanying the legal team during hearings.

· Keeping effective files.

· Drafting advice letters for the advice service on the EU Settlement Scheme and associated areas, including eligibility for benefits.

In addition to the above, interns may be requested to assist with:

· Undertaking research for articles, both for publications of the AIRE Centre, and for outside journals/publications.

· Undertaking projects in which the AIRE Centre is asked to take part.

· Attending meetings/conferences/seminars on behalf of the AIRE Centre.

All Legal Work is supervised.

To be eligible you must:

· Have a completed law degree/GDL or equivalent

· Have a good understanding of the areas of Law in which the AIRE Centre works (EU Free movement, EU Migration, asylum etc)

· Have a good standard of written and spoken English.

All our internships are unpaid; however, we do cover up to £30 of expenses for travel and lunch

DIY Skills Advisers (DIYSA) Volunteer 

If you’re looking for a varied, hands-on volunteering role that makes a difference in people’s lives while supporting clients to learn new skills, then look no further than this exciting role. 

Shelter’s DIY Skills Advisers (DIYSA) help people to gain fundamental DIY skills to build a positive future in their homes after a prolonged period of homelessness, turning a house into a home. They also help people to improve and maintain their homes, often preventing eviction. Referrals to the DIYSA service can be received from both Shelter colleagues and support staff from local partner organisations. 

The DIYSA team works with individuals, sharing their skills to enable them to participate in home improvements, teaching them how to paint, wallpaper, build flat-pack furniture and gardening. As well as support for individuals, the DIY Skills Advisers run workshops across the country to bring communities together and upskill those who attend, providing clients with energy saving advice, educating them around cutting costs and improving energy efficiency in the home. 

This role is an opportunity to make a real difference to the households we assist. You’ll be developing your own knowledge and skills to assist local people and households with a range of housing disrepairs and challenges as well as providing practical DIY guidance You will gain experience of volunteering within a recognised national housing charity, while supporting your local community. 

Suggested Involvement: The role is flexible, however due to the nature of the role, requires you to be available for the day, in accordance with the DIYSA’s diary. 

Availability: This volunteering opportunity will take place within our working hours, Monday-Friday, 9am – 5pm 

Location: Shelter Birmingham, 38 The Priory Queensway, Birmingham, B4 7LA, however this is a community-based role, visiting people in their own homes in and around Birmingham so travelling will be required.

As a DIYSA Volunteer, you’ll be supporting the day-to-day work of DIYSA as they provide advice, guidance and skills to households in Birmingham.

Volunteers are essential to Shelter’s mission to end housing injustice. We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds. The insights and life experience our volunteers bring to Shelter are valued as much as their contribution through volunteering. 

We aim to provide our volunteers with a positive experience. This is by prioritising accessibility and tailoring the advice we provide to the needs of the individual. We make sure our policies and processes are equitable, which means that no-one is unfairly disadvantaged while volunteering because of their background or identity. 

Main Tasks include 

• Working alongside the DIYSA to provide DIY repairs, teach households DIY skills,

• Accompany the DIYSA, visiting people at their homes, and assessing the repair/skill need 

• Painting and decorating 

• Gardening work 

• Flat pack furniture assembly 

• Fitting curtain rails and blinds 

• Hanging pictures and shelves 

• Supporting the DIYSA with the delivery of community-based workshops in skills such as drills workshops, gardening, energy saving practices and help around the management of mould. 

Skills and experience required 

• Your main role is to support the DIYSA and help them complete jobs in a timely and effective manner 

• You don’t need to have a background in DIY for this role. We are looking for a willing learner who has excellent communication and listening skills

As a charity we can continue to help cats and kittens in need thanks to the donations we receive at fundraising events from generous members of the public. Our fundraising event helpers have the exciting and varied role of helping at local fundraising events - such as cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between!

You can expect us to

• make you feel welcome, included and respected in line with our values and behaviours
• support you in having a positive and impactful experience at Cats Protection
• cover agreed out-of-pocket expenses in line with our Expenses Policy
• provide you with access to learning, development and engagement opportunities

What we need from you

You’ll be:

· help set up and/or man stalls at events

· help on collection days like supermarket collections events or street collections

· help at fundraising events such as quiz nights, cake sales and dances

· promoting a professional image of Cats Protection at events

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

Wekume

Wekume is a comprehensive mobile app designed to provide university students in Uganda with seamless access to reproductive health services, including counseling, testing, products, and health education, while also offering personal development resources like business incubation and career-building opportunities

• Limited Access to Reproductive Health Services: Many university students in Uganda face barriers such as stigma, limited health resources, and lack of awareness, which prevent them from accessing essential services like family planning, STI testing, and HIV prevention.

• Stigma and Misinformation about Sexual Health: In my Ugandan community, discussions about sexual and reproductive health are often taboo, leading to misinformation and fear.

• Youth Unemployment and Lack of Opportunities: Beyond facing rigid access to reproductive health, there's a lot of unemployment among student

• Inclusivity for Vulnerable and Minority Groups: These marginalised groups include refugees and students with disabilities.

Wekume provides:

Convenient Access to Reproductive Health Services: Wekume provides a centralized mobile platform that enables students to easily obtain sexual and reproductive health information without the need to visit healthcare facilities in person. This includes:

• SafeChat: Anonymous virtual counseling services aimed at reducing stigma and promoting open discussions about reproductive health issues.

• QuickTest: A feature that allows students to schedule HIV testing and receive their results quickly.

• ARV Corner: Offers information and support regarding anti-retroviral treatment for students living with HIV.

International Fundraising Manager (US & Europe-based candidates)

Volunteer Role Description (remote, unpaid)

Wekume is a youth-led movement empowering students to reach their full potential by breaking barriers to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) through collaboration, empathy, innovation, and community. Our core product — the Wekume app — provides university students with trusted, discreet access to lifesaving tools like SafeChat, QuickTest, ARV Corner, and SRH product ordering. Together with our on-campus engagements and social media platforms, Wekume helps students protect themselves and rewrite the narrative around SRH in Uganda.

Role Summary Wekume is seeking a Volunteer International Fundraising Manager to design, build, and lead our international fundraising efforts. This is a key leadership role, critical to growing partnerships with corporations, individuals, businesses, organizations, and allied nonprofits to help fund Wekume’s transformative work. You will recruit, guide, and mentor a team of experienced fundraisers and gift officers, working together to secure the support needed to:

1. Develop and launch our new and improved Wekume app
2. Fund vital programs, SRH product access, marketing, transportation, volunteer support, leadership salaries, and more
3. You will also help share Wekume’s story globally — inviting the world to stand in compassion and purpose alongside our innovative Ugandan team, and to advocate for hope, dignity, and the power to protect oneself.

Note: Wekume has 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsorship through Give to Africa, enabling U.S. donors to make tax-deductible donations. Additionally, Friends of Wekume is a non-profit charity awaiting 501(c)(3) status to provide US-based fundraising support to Wekume in Uganda.

Key Responsibilities

1. Build and manage Wekume’s international fundraising team
2. Develop and lead strategies to engage corporations, foundations, high-net-worth individuals, and other partners
3. Strengthen Wekume’s global donor network through storytelling, outreach, and relationship building
4. Ensure consistent progress on both major gift and grassroots international fundraising efforts
5. Collaborate closely with Wekume’s leadership, grants team, and marketing team to align messaging and goals
6. Mentor and inspire your team, fostering growth, accountability, and excellence

Required Qualifications

1. Significant experience in non-profit fundraising, donor engagement, or major gifts (international experience a plus)
2. Strong leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring teams
3. Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
4. Passion for Wekume’s mission and the drive to help reshape futures alongside our Ugandan team
5. Strategic thinker, able to set vision and translate it into action
