What will you be doing?

National Star, whose headquarters is in Gloucestershire, is seeking several people who share its vision of a world in which people with disabilities are able to realise their potential as equal and active citizens in control of their lives. As a member of the Trustee Board, you will also be a company director as the charity is also a registered company.

* Company law and the specific legal requirements for charities in special needs and social care sectors

* Marketing and communication expertise including networking and fundraising

* Business acumen with a strong financial background

National Star is a Disability Confident Employer. The Trustee Board meets four times a year, generally during the week between 4pm – 7pm. In addition, Trustees are expected to become active members of a sub-committee. Board papers are distributed in advance to allow Trustees to prepare for each meeting.

About the role 

Do you enjoy meeting people, working as part of a team, and creating a friendly, welcoming atmosphere? We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to give at least 4 hours a week to help us run our community café in Leek.

As a Volunteer Café Assistant, you’ll:

• Support café staff, volunteers, and trainees in the smooth day-to-day running of the café
• Prepare, present, and serve food and drinks to a high standard
• Operate the coffee machine (full training provided)
• Handle cash and card transactions using the till
• Maintain excellent hygiene and health & safety standards
• Provide friendly customer service to visitors and guests
• Help out at special events and activities held in the café

Full training and regular supervision will be provided, so you’ll feel confident and supported in your role.

About the service 

John Hall Wellness Garden is a community education garden and café in Leek. It’s a safe and inclusive green space where local people, schools, colleges, and social enterprises can come together to learn, work, and socialise. We especially welcome and support people with mental or physical health needs, children, young people, and adults of all ages.

We want to increase the number of volunteers in Cranleigh and Woking areas as well as Guildford, Successful candidates would be expected to attend at least one training night per month at Guildford from 20:00 for 2 hours.

Online learning will be required before a 2 day course will be taking place at the weekend in January

Debt Advice Foundation is a registered national debt advice and education charity, based in Darwen, Lancashire.

The charity aims to tackle the causes and impact of problem debt.  We do this through our DebtAware education programme, which provides children with the knowledge and skills they’ll need to manage their money with confidence in years to come and through our free debt advice telephone helpline, for those that are impacted by debt today.

The role

Our trutees play a vital role in making sure that Debt Advice Foundation achieves its objectives.

They do this by ensuring the charity has a clear strategy that aligns with its aims, effective governance procedures to ensure it meets its legal obligations and by supporting the executive team to effectively execute the charity’s strategic plan.

Duties

• Agree the charity’s vision and objectives.
• Approve organisational strategies and monitor and evaluate progress.
• Oversee financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress.
• Review and approve annual financial accounts.
• Identify and monitor organisational risks.
• Provide support and challenge to the executive in the exercise of their delegated authority.
• Adequately prepare for and attend board and sub-committee meetings.
• Use independent judgment, acting legally and in good faith to promote and protect Debt Advice Foundation’s interests.

What we are looking for

We are looking for people willing to bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role, and who will broaden the diversity of thinking of our board.

You do not need previous governance experience.

Personal skills and qualities

• Enthusiasm for our vision and mission.
• Willingness and ability to understand and accept their responsibilities and liabilities as trustees and to act in the best interests of the organisation.
• Ability to think creatively and strategically, exercise good, independent judgement and work effectively as a board member.

• Willingness to network on behalf of Debt Advice Foundation and connect the charity to relevant organisations.

Terms of office

• Trustees are appointed for an unlimited term of office.
• This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

 Time commitment

 Attending four board meetings annually. Currently meetings are held at the charity’s office in Darwen, Lancashire.

Committee membership

Ad hoc and occasional support through working groups and / or support to the executive team.

Do you live in Sefton? Do you want to be the difference between a life saved and a life lost? We're now recruiting for Community First Aiders across Sefton (including Southport, Formby, Waterloo, Crosby and Maghull).

The volunteers would be expected to attend their network meeting on a regular (at least monthly basis) and partake in a range of operational events.

Interviews would take place in early to mid October 2025. This event will include an informal chat with some of our current volunteers, a quick introduction to St John Ambulance (and an opportunity to learn some lifesaving skills!) as well as screening checks.

If you are successful you will need to undertake induction & training for role at these dates:
Welcome Event (Induction) - will take place on the 1st November
Training for role - will take place on 22nd and 23rd November

We are looking for new volunteers from all over Northern Ireland to be Speak out. Stay Safe Volunteers. You would visit primary schools local to you to help us protect a generation of children from abuse and neglect.

In 2022 the NSPCC's Speak out. Stay safe volunteers returned to primary schools. As a Speak out. Stay safe. volunteer, you will visit primary schools to deliver Speak out. Stay safe. workshops that teach children about the different types of abuse and how they can speak out and stay safe. Our Speak out. Stay safe. workshops are age-appropriate and memorable and need an energetic and enthusiastic person to deliver them. You’ll work alongside other Speak out. Stay safe. volunteers to make sure at the end of each session the children feel empowered and know who they can speak out to if they are worried.

This recruitment opportunity seeks volunteers from across the Counties of Hereford & Worcester. Local Networks see volunteers coordinated at either Kidderminster, Bromsgrove, Worcester City, Pershore or Hereford City. The ability to travel is essential and will require candidates to travel reasonable distances within the two counties to perform their duties including, First Aid, Community Engagement and Fundraising.

A selection event will take place at our County Headquarters - 148. Wylds Lane, Worcester, WR5 1DN, within two weeks of the closing date (TBC). Successful candidates will be enrolled onto the next available Community First Aid course, which will be run at the Worcester site (Dates TBC).

About the role
We’re seeking a Volunteer Grants Fundraiser Coordinator to work alongside our Operational Director to identify suitable funders and shape compelling applications for our inclusive, sustainability-focused programmes. You won’t be on your own, you’ll collaborate closely with the Operational Director, using our project briefs, impact data, and templates.

What you’ll do

• Prospect & shortlist relevant trusts/foundations against our priorities

• Read and interpret funder guidelines, eligibility and scoring criteria

• Shape applications to reflect funder requirements and Willowbrook’s needs

• Draft/edit clear, concise proposals (including character-limited answers)

• Help assemble supporting documents and track deadlines/outcomes

• Join a brief weekly check-in with the Operational Director

About you:

• Strong written English and clear, persuasive style

• Able to decode funder requirements and tailor responses accordingly

• Good research and organisational skills; comfortable with simple trackers

• Values-aligned with sustainability, inclusion, and community education

• Grants/bid writing experience helpful (charity, academic, or professional); motivated career-changers also welcome
