Job description

Join a team that's making a real difference.

Adfam is the only national charity tackling the effects of alcohol, drug use or gambling on family members and friends. We improve life for thousands of people. One way we do this is by empowering families and friends to get the support they need.

We want anyone affected by someone else's drug or alcohol use or gambling problem to have the chance to benefit from healthy relationships, be part of a loving and supportive family and enjoy mental and physical wellbeing.

We have a number of frontline services, commissioned in local areas in England to provide support to family members and friends. This role offers the opportunity to be part of an ambitious new national remote service, aiming to offer support via the phone or Zoom to any affected adult in England. We are looking to recruit experienced Family Support professionals to provide these virtual support sessions to individual family members and sometimes groups. Depending on our contracts, this may include short-term or longer-term opportunities, and also relief work and/or occasional one-off opportunities. We are particularly interested to hear from those who have availability in the evenings and at weekends, and from those who are able to offer at least 12 client hours per week. However, we are looking to expand the team and to increase the skills and diversity of the team, so we will consider all applications which meet the criteria.

Experience in supporting family members affected by someone else’s substance use and/or gambling is essential.

Though the work is sessional and we cannot guarantee hours, we are currently experiencing high numbers of referrals for our remote support service and anticipate being able to provide clients up to your chosen limit. The service is currently funded for at least a further 6 months and we are actively seeking additional funding to continue the work.

Salary: £15 per hour

6.5% contributory pension scheme

Contract: Ongoing

This is a remote working position based at home. Possibility of occasional future travel.

Closing date: 12.00pm Monday 18th October 2021

Interviews will be held in early November via Zoom

Application packs can be downloaded from our website.
