Job description

Role: Freelance Trust Fundraiser.
Hours:
minimum 2 days per week Mon – Fri, to suit your availability.
Location: remote in UK. Our office is in Milton Keynes and is available for your use if preferred.
Rate: dependent on experience, between £200-£300 per day. We have a fixed sum available and can negotiate rates.
Contract: up to end of December 2025.
Start date: as soon as possible.

Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) is looking for a freelance trust fundraiser with experience of working with disability/health charities. You will work alongside our knowledgeable team to submit grant applications, funder reports, and conduct prospect research.

About SIA

SIA is the expert, guiding voice for life after spinal cord injury. We work across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland to support people affected by spinal cord injury and connect them to all the services they need to live a fulfilled life.

Income from trusts and foundations comprises c.20% of SIA’s annual income. The trusts and grants team consists of a manager, coordinator, and officer. We have a vast pipeline of existing funders, prospect funders, and lapsed funders to work through. Templates have been recently re-written, and you will have access to project information and budgets, programmes data through our CRM system, and a supportive team on hand to help.

Description of activities:

  • Submit applications, reports, and thank you letters to a portfolio of funders provided by the team.
  • Conduct prospect research to find new funders SIA could approach.
  • Use our CRM system (Dynamics365) to record activities and access key data/information needed for regional applications.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience writing in a fundraising context, for example, letters, applications, reports, newsletters.
  • Experience preparing funding proposals.
  • Ability to communicate complex issues clearly and succinctly.
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to multitask.
  • A high standard of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
