The purpose of the role of Lifelites’ Honorary Secretary will be to create and maintain registers to enable the Trustees to review and update governance, statutory, and regulatory policies and reports, and to file them with external agencies as required. In addition, the role will support Lifelites’ Board of Trustees and Committee meetings, including the preparation of agendas, papers and minute taking.

About you

You are an experienced administrator or company secretary with a highly organised attitude, excellent attention to detail and strong IT skills. You will be passionate about Lifelites’ mission and keen to develop good governance within the charity.

Status

The Honorary Secretary will be a volunteer and not a Trustee.  They will have no responsibility for deciding the content of policies and reports but may advise the Trustees on the basis of their knowledge and expertise.

Key responsibilities

• To create registers of all the charity’s governance, statutory, and regulatory policies, procedures, reports, and other documents as and when required.
• To create and oversee a rolling schedule of periodic reviews for each document.
• To inform the Chair, Board of Trustees and Senior Management Team of any changes in governance, legal, statutory, and regulatory and compliance requirements.
• To prepare draft agendas and papers for Board meetings with support from the Chair and CEO.
• To attend Board and Committee meetings, to take minutes and actions and provide relevant advice when required.
• To circulate agendas, papers and minutes of Board and Committee meetings.
• To file statutory and regulatory reports when approved by the Trustees.

Person Specification

• Strong track record and knowledge of charity “good governance”, and statutory and regulatory standards and requirements.
• Willingness and availability to attend a minimum of 4 half day in person Board Meetings and 12 mostly online Committee meetings (2 hours each) per year.
• Flexible and practical approach to work and willingness to travel to meetings (expenses reimbursed).
• Experience of interacting with virtual meeting platforms and other digital communication channels.
• Experience of drafting documents and minute taking.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to be flexible and work independently.
• Exceptional administrative skills, highly organised and good attention to detail.

All Nations Christian College is world renowned for effective cross-cultural training for Christian missional life and work, both locally and globally.

Why we need your help

Coping with bereavement involves painful feelings, coming to terms with loss and making adjustments in life. We are looking for a volunteer counsellor to provide counselling support to relatives, carers and friends of patients who are terminally ill or who have died. We are looking for volunteer qualified and trainee counsellors to provide counselling support to individuals impacted by terminal illness.

What we need you to do

Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks: 

• Provide 2-4 counselling sessions per week for in-patients, day services and community services 
• Identify when the level of support may be beyond the scope of counselling and that other professional help may be needed 
• Identify and agree desired outcomes with the person being counselled and how these will be reviewed / achieved 
• To be supervised by a qualified external supervisor 
• Provide statistical records on a weekly basis to the hospice administration team 
• To follow Marie Curie policies, standards and procedures

What skills or experience do you need?

• Diploma in Counselling from a recognised body or a final year student working towards this
• The ability to deal sensitively with people facing or experiencing loss 
• To be emotionally balanced and self-aware as this is a demanding role 
• To keep up-to-date with professional developments in counselling and specialist palliative care 
• An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and the actions required when working with people who may at risk to themselves or others 
• Supervision from an external supervisor and an ability to raise any concerns quickly

Duties

Any individual acting as a trustee for Upbeat Communities would be required to
carry out the following:

• Promote the vision, mission and values of the charity
• Ensure Upbeat Communities and its representatives function within all legal and

• Determine the overall direction and development of Upbeat Communities

Oxfordshire Breastfeeding Support (OBS) is a small charity (a charitable incorporated organisation or CIO) providing free direct breastfeeding support to the families of Oxfordshire - via a mixture of virtual one to one appointments, in-person sessions, Zoom groups, a private Facebook group, antenatal workshops and work targeted at groups that are under-represented. OBS is seeking to recruit a trustee to act as treasurer of trustees for a period of 2-3 years. In addition to the responsibilities of a general trustee, treasurer of the trustees will:

Board member opportunities

CHS is governed by a Board of Management made up of paid members who meet regularly throughout the year to direct policy and make major decisions on housing matters. The Board of Trustees of Streetwise Opera is seeking a new Trustee who can take on the role of  Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee.
