A bit about this role...

Every penny counts when it comes to improving the lives of the thousands of cats and kittens across the UK that need our help each year. Our Collection Box Volunteers help us raise vital funds by collecting and distributing collection boxes in their local area. Making a difference can mean as little as raising 20p, which is enough to feed one cat in our care for a day, to £150 which is the average cost of a cat in our care.

What can I expect to be doing?

As a flexible role, you have the choice to be involved in the following:

• Researching local shops, pubs and businesses to place Collection Boxes
• Delivering Collection Boxes to locations
• Recording donations and thanking local businesses and supporters
• Collecting and replacing Collection boxes when they're full
• Sharing your passion for cat welfare and promoting the work of Cats Protection

Our Collection Tin Volunteer role is very flexible and can be completed at your own pace, independently with our dedicated support.

As a Community of Practice Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting and enhancing a national community of practice. You will focus on specific activities or areas within the community, ensuring that efforts align with national standards and priorities while avoiding duplication. The post-holder will work in support of the Logistics Manager for their defined area and in partnership with regional, specialist, county and Network partners to build and inspire an effective team of people who will deliver logistics input to operation and non-operational activities as per the organisational vision, goals and strategy. You and your team will ensure the right equipment is in the right place at the right time in the most cost-effective way.

As a Community of Practice Officer, you will:

• Support the Community of Practice Lead in coordinating the community.
• Focus on specific activities or areas within the community of practice.
• Assist in delivering impactful initiatives and projects.
• Foster collaboration and strengthen professional engagement.
• Champion inclusivity and provide support to community members.
• Contribute to the overall success and development of the community.

Interviews will be in the week following the closure of the advert. Selection will be against the RD and judged upon application form showing how candidate is appropriate for role. Due to seniority of role, candidate will need to detail in application how they meet the specifics of the RD and their relevant experience. Once shortlisted and interviewed, a selection event will not be required. Local and specific induction will be arranged for the successful candidate based on their previous SJA experience and requirements. We currently have a vacancy for a Trustee on the Board of the Mosaic Learning Trust, based in Standish, Wigan.

Our Trust comprises three schools across Wigan and Lancashire. We’re looking for someone passionate about making a genuine difference to children’s education and school experience.

• Managing group membership – authorising Requests to Join.

• Supporting group conversations – Instigating dialogue based on eye health related days/events or more interest-based topics.
• Working with a Volunteer Moderator Team to create engaging content for the Group.
• Ensuring group rules are followed and that content is appropriate by alerting managers when inappropriate content is posted or when there is a safeguarding issue.

As a trap, neuter and return (TNR) lead volunteer you will make a vital contribution to maintaining a healthy population of feral and community cats and will help alleviate cat welfare and community problems caused by uncontrolled cat populations. You will lead a team of TNR volunteers in your local area, who in turn will help reduce the number of unwanted cats.

What we need from you

You’ll be:

• Engaging with local communities, local businesses, landowners and farmers to promote the neutering of cats in their locality
• Engaging with vets to promote and arrange neutering 
• Liaising with other members of the Cats Protection local team
• Making sure the trapping equipment is working properly

Time expectation

This is a flexible role and the hours will vary depending on the number of cats identified for specific TNR campaigns. Our current TNR lead volunteers spend about 10 hours per week in this role which can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

At St John Ambulance we are looking to embed ourselves within our communities, delivering support which is tailored to the needs of those communities whilst providing a positive experience for our Volunteers.

Jumble Sales Organiser Volunteer

Would you like to raise funds, have fun and join a super team of volunteers who together make our Jumble Sales in Thatcham a great success?  As Jumble Sales Organiser you would be helping to make everything run smoothly for the team.

Time Expectations:  1 Saturday every other month (plus preparations)

This could be a shared role and tasks may include:

· Booking the hall for future Jumbles

· Contacting the Jumble team before events to check availability

· Set up stalls, running a stall and packing away at the end

· Collecting any items/resources needed from the centre the day before

Without volunteers, Cats Protection Berkshire Cat Centre simply wouldn't exist. Our amazing, friendly volunteers are a diverse group with a shared love of cats who fit volunteering around their home lives and personal commitments.

We're often looking to welcome new volunteers to join our brilliant team. As well as meeting great people and making an incredible difference to the cats of Berkshire.

Please note:  Although we do welcome everyone, unfortunately our centre is not set up to accommodate young volunteers under the age of 18, including those on the Duke of Edinburgh programme.

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments to suit you. You’ll be part of a team raising vital funds while having fun in the process!

As a fundraising volunteer, we will support you every step of the way to ensure your time at Cats Protection is a positive and rewarding one. Whatever time you can give really does make a big difference We have lots of exciting activities to choose from for example attending a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, handling administrative tasks, or contributing to the development of new fundraising ideas. The Sherriff Centre, a community-focused charity now in its 11th year, and are seeking a dedicated and experienced Co-Chair to join our Board of Trustees. This pivotal role will work alongside the Vicar of the Parish of St Mary’s Kilburn and St James West Hampstead, who, because of the legal construction of the Charity and the Parish, will act as the other Co-Chair. This post holder will fulfil the usual role of a Chair of a charity and be there to provide leadership, strategic direction, and governance to help advance the mission and objectives of the Centre. 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Leadership and Governance:

·  Collaborate with the Vicar Co-Chair and Board members to provide strategic leadership and governance.

·  Ensure the Board operates effectively and meets its legal and statutory responsibilities.

·  Support the development and deployment of current trustees and staff and lead on the recruitment of new trustees.

2. Project Development and Service Delivery:

·  Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of services to ensure they meet the needs of our community.

·  Work with the Co-chair and Centre Director to develop new initiatives that align with our mission and strategic goals.

3. Community Engagement:

·  Act as an ambassador, advocating for our mission and building relationships with stakeholders, funders, and partners.

·  Foster a culture of community involvement, including with the parish, and encourage volunteer engagement.

4. Strategic Thinking:

·  Contribute to the strategic planning process, setting appropriate strategic goals and workplans

·  Ensure that the Board’s decisions align with our objectives and assist with regular monitoring of our activities in line with its objectives and the Board’s overall strategic goals.

·  Monitor trends and developments in community needs and adjust strategies accordingly.

5. Collaboration with Centre Director:

·  Work closely with the Centre Director to support operational management and service delivery.

·  Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures that enhance our effectiveness.

Person Specification:

1. Essential Qualifications and Experience:

·  Proven experience in a similar role, for example as a CEO or in senior leadership within a small/medium-sized charity.

·  Demonstrated experience in project development and service delivery within community settings.

·  Strong understanding of community work and the challenges faced by local populations.

·  Ability to be in sympathy with a community charity run in a Christian place or worship and relate to the parish community.

2. Skills and Competencies:

·  Strategic thinker with ability to develop and implement long-term plans.

·  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate stakeholders.

·  Strong leadership skills with a collaborative approach to governance and decision-making.

·  Ability to analyse information and make informed decisions.

3.  Availability:

·  Must have availability during weekdays, committing 8-10 hours per week to fulfil the role effectively.
