As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best, whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! What we need from you

You’ll be:

· help set up and/or man stalls at events

· help on collection days like supermarket collections events or street collections

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

Our outreach service provides enhanced support for vulnerable and intimidated witnesses who may need additional support and preparation ahead of trial day so they can give their best evidence in court.

What will you do?

Support a diverse range of vulnerable and intimidated witnesses and be their key supporter before, during and after the trial to help them prepare and cope with their experience of giving evidence.

Work collaboratively with witnesses to identify their needs and deliver a tailored package of preparation and support.

Meet with witnesses via video call and phone.

Show witnesses around the court before the trial so they are familiar and at ease in the environment.

Attend court on the day the witness gives evidence, accompanying them when giving evidence where permitted.

Make contact with the witness post trial to talk about their experience of giving evidence and facilitate referrals to other agencies.
 

What skills will you need?

You don’t need specific qualifications but you’ll need to:

- Be friendly, caring, supportive and empathetic towards others.
- Be non-judgemental and impartial.
- Have good communication skills; both written and verbal, as well as being a good listener.
- Be able to work effectively as part of a diverse team
- Be reliable, committed and flexible, with an ability to plan and organise your own time and tasks.
- The ability to handle challenging situations and use your initiative, experience and training to solve problems and make appropriate decisions.
- The ability to travel within your local area (in some areas this may require a vehicle).
- Have access to good internet connection and a laptop/ computer with a camera to use in a private space. This enables you to facilitate video calls with witnesses, and undertake training and communication tasks.

You’ll also need an Enhanced level DBS disclosure (a criminal record check), which we will arrange. Having a criminal record is not in itself a barrier to volunteering with us.

Our volunteers come from a range of backgrounds and we particularly welcome application from people with physical or mental health conditions, and people from Black, Asian Minority Ethnic (Global Majority) and LGBTQIA+ communities. We are committed to offering a welcoming and inclusive environment to witnesses, staff and volunteers.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As part of our Community Support team, you will play a key role in ensuring the fulfilment of our users' needs by sharing information about our services, projects, and activities; this takes place in person, through our digital channels and helpline. Additionally, you will be responsible for keeping up to date information about other services and partner organisations.
The primary challenge faced by the Latin American community is the language barrier, which hinders their comprehension of the UK system and their entitlements. Taking part in the Community Interpreting service, you will support service users in navigating these obstacles, enabling them to establish a more integrated life in the UK.

This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who wants to better understand the challenges faced by the Latin American community in London; use their language skills in a positive and impactful way; and develop valuable administrative and customer service skills in a multicultural, fast-paced organisation.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● Connecting service users to our services, projects and activities in person or by answering phone calls and emails
● Supporting users with general enquiries, referring them to relevant services within our organisation as well as signposting and referring to external services
● Registering users on our database and keeping accurate records of services offered
● Monitoring internal calendars and appointments
● Sharing useful, up-to-date information with users as instructed by other team members
● Ensuring internal communications, flyers and handouts are up to date
● Interpreting calls for service users and supporting with non-official translations
● Supporting community members with basic application forms
● Liaising with staff in other departments and with external contacts

PERSON SPECIFICATION
● Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish and/or Portuguese
● Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and with a diverse population of service users, staff and partners
● A caring, sensitive and non-judgemental approach
● Ability to cope with stressful and emotionally challenging issues
● Professionalism to handle sensitive and confidential information
● Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to multitask
● Ability to set their own work priorities, take initiatives and work with minimal supervision
● Good IT skills, including in using Microsoft and Google suite packages and different database systems

Connect: North Korea works with North Korean escapees to recover, rebuild, and succeed. We were established in 2018 to address the complex challenges North Koreans face in building new lives once they’ve escaped the oppressive North Korean regime and reached safety in a free country.

We are seeking an experienced and ambitious trustee with the fundraising insight and strategic vision to help Connect: North Korea continue our growth from a small community start-up into a high-impact, sustainable international organisation. As we scale our programmes and deepen our impact, we’re looking for a trustee with a strong understanding of fundraising strategy, who can help shape our approach, promote our mission through their networks, and help us drive change for North Korean escapees.

If you have a background in fundraising, this is an excellent opportunity to play a highly rewarding role in supporting our mission. As part of a tightly knit and ambitious Board, you will provide strategic oversight of our governance, act as a spokesperson and ambassador for our work, help drive income generation through your networks and relationship-building skills, offer strategic advice and support to the senior management team, and foster a collaborative and effective governance environment. Individuals are sought who have a strong empathy with our work and vision and share our values and commitment to social and racial justice. 

JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: Fundraising Trustee

LOCATION: Remote / 78 Coombe Road, New Malden, KT3 4QS

We usually hold board meetings online, but this is open to change.

COMMITMENT: 2 – 3 hours per month. We hold one annual away day we’d expect the board to attend.

Our Board meets every quarter for 2 hours. There is expected support between meetings. Our terms are capped at 3 years with potential for renewal for one additional term.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Contribute to good governance and strategic decision-making, ensuring the Board fulfils its responsibilities in line with our constitution, governance framework, and applicable legislation.

• Provide strategic leadership on fundraising and income generation, helping to shape Connect: North Korea’s strategy and approach to sustainable growth.

• Use your networks and influence to promote the charity’s mission, opening doors to potential donors, partners, and advocates.

• Act as an ambassador and spokesperson for Connect: North Korea in relevant sectors and philanthropic circles.

• Contribute to Board discussions on financial planning and sustainability, ensuring that fundraising targets and strategic objectives are aligned.

• Champion a culture of philanthropy and external engagement across the organisation.

• Work collaboratively with fellow trustees and the Chair to maintain a supportive, ambitious, and effective governance environment.

• Ensure that there are effective financial management processes in place and that the charity is financially sustainable.

• Work with the CEO to set and monitor organisational/risk KPIs.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS
 

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior strategic fundraising role in a professional setting.

•  Well-networked and exhibit strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities and be comfortable in an ambassadorial role.

• Leverage a well-developed network to strengthen engagement, awareness, and support for our mission.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills with proven ability to foster and promote a collaborative team environment

• Must align with our values and have proven understanding of the issues facing refugees and asylum-seekers.

Be able to make difficult decisions, negotiate challenging conversations, and be able to balance competing interests

• Experience of governance of a charity or public sector organisation with a good understanding of charity finance and governance issues.

• Have the ability to think strategically and be able to work effectively with the organisation's senior management team, staff and volunteers.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

• Lived experience of migration or of a refugee background is highly desirable.

• Korean speaker

• Experience with major donor or fundraising events

• Be actively engaged in refugee and migrant rights, social change, and/or a related field

This really is an exciting time to join us and contribute to our charity’s Board and use your professional skills to make an impact on our collaborative discussions!

As a trustee at MFT, you’ll support us in tasks such as; reviewing and advising on organisational policies, business plans, along with helping to promote our work and impact within the community. As well as attending quarterly board meetings, you’ll also participate in one or more subcommittees, providing oversight and input on specific areas such as finance, HR, safeguarding, or education.

Do you love cleaning and keeping everything spick and span? If so, join us as a Volunteer Cleaner at Skanda Vale Hospice and help us maintain a beautifully clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our patients and their families. Our Housekeeping team is vital to everything we do. The time and effort you spend caring about the little details will make a big difference to the people that, together, we care about.

About Skanda Vale Hospice

Skanda Vale Hospice offers unhurried, highly individualised care and respite to families affected by life-limiting illnesses, completely free of charge. A beautiful and happy place, filled with laughter and vibrant colour, our hospice is nurse led and primarily run by volunteers. Volunteering with us means being a valued part of a dedicated team who give of themselves wholeheartedly. Compassion is at the heart of what we do, expressed by human kindness, generosity and a deep commitment to the well-being of everyone we care for and work alongside.

What will I be doing?

• Sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting and disinfecting surfaces in bedrooms, bathrooms and throughout the hospice.

• Washing, drying, and ironing laundry.

• Disposing of waste (general and clinical), including recycling.

• Helping with infection control by following our in-house procedures and using personal protective equipment when needed.

How much time should I give?

Completely flexible, whatever you can offer – some volunteers offer time every week, others support on a monthly basis at the end of respite stays, some help quarterly with deep cleans or just occasionally to prepare or clear up around special events in our calendar.

What do I need to have?

• A permanent UK address or a visa that allows you to stay and volunteer in the UK (unfortunately we cannot sponsor visa applications).

What training and support will I be given?

You will receive induction, training on cleaning procedures, infection control practices and health and safety. You will be supported by the Housekeeping Lead to ensure you feel confident and capable in your role.

How do I find out more?

Contact us or drop in at one of our Coffee Mornings. These are held between 10.30 am and 12.30 pm on the last Thursday of each month and offer the chance for an informal chat and a look around - while enjoying fresh coffee and homemade cake, free of charge. Come along, we’d love to meet you!

Richmond Carers Centre, a network partner of Carers Trust, is a registered charity providing information, support, advice and a voice for carers living and caring in London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. 

Helping Carers to Live Well is our organisational aim.  We are looking for someone with the skills and ability to offer a coordinated approach in supporting unpaid and family adult carers in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. Carers provide vital support and can come from all walks of life and be of any age.

As a Volunteer Counsellor, you will be part of a small dedicated team and directly deliver our counselling service to adult carers. You will provide regular counselling sessions for carers each week. These will either be face-to-face at our centre or can be via a remote offer using either a video platform such as MS Teams or by telephone. The counselling service is part of a range of services offered to support carers with their emotional wellbeing. This work helps to enhance carers’ health and wellbeing. It also provides carers with a much needed break from their caring responsibilities, in a safe environment where they can focus on their wellbeing.

With your proven experience of working with carers or other vulnerable groups on an individual and/or group basis, you’ll recognise the importance of being client focused and have a commitment to enhance the lives of carers.  You will be able to demonstrate a broad knowledge of carer’s needs and a wide range of skills in relation to working with individuals and groups.

You will be self-motivated and positive in your approach to working with both carers and staff and have a willingness to embrace our organisational values. Strong administrative, time management, IT and organisational skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and oversight of the organisation’s financial strategy, ensuring alignment with its mission and objectives.

• Collaborate with the Board to develop and uphold the organisation’s reserves policy.
• Monitor and evaluate contracts and supplier relationships to ensure best value and compliance.
• Prepare financial projections and reports for funding applications, strategic planning, and Board meetings.
• Liaise with the organisation’s accountant and external auditors as required.
