The difference you will make to cats and people

As a charity we can continue to help cats and kittens in need thanks to the donations we receive at fundraising events from generous members of the public. Our fundraising event helpers have the exciting and varied role of helping at local fundraising events - such as cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between!

You can expect us to

What we need from you

You’ll be:

• help set up and/or man stalls at events
• help on collection days like supermarket collections events or street collections
• help at fundraising events such as quiz nights, cake sales and dances
• promoting a professional image of Cats Protection at events

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

Are you creative, reliable and passionate about visual storytelling?

We’re looking for a volunteer photographer/videographer to help us capture key moments at upcoming events.

This could suit:

• Students looking to expand their portfolio.
• Amateurs wanting to make a difference.
• Freelancers growing their profile.

Photographic experience is essential, as is having your own equipment. In addition, we would love our volunteer to share our passion for One Medicine.

What we want from you

The volunteer photographer/videographer will produce a portfolio of high quality, varied and creative images or video clips from the events that will capture the atmosphere of the day. After the event, you will undertake any editing needed and then share the completed portfolio with us. The images will be used for promotional purposes, so it’s a great chance to build your portfolio and share your photography.

The first opportunity is at our Golf Day on Thursday, 18 September 2025 at Old Thorns Hotel and Resort in Hampshire, but we do have other events throughout the year, so this role could lead to further opportunities for the right person.

Humanimal Trust drives collaboration between vets, doctors and researchers so that all humans and animals benefit from equal and sustainable medical progress, but not at the expense of an animal’s life. This is One Medicine.

Expedition medical teams are devised for each of our expeditions on a thorough assessment of medical requirements, considering a range of factors including but not limited to the environment, client group and access to local facilities/services. Our medical teams consist of fully qualified medical professionals and may include doctors and other healthcare professionals, such as nurses or paramedic, with appropriate specialist experience. Our expeditions include both Senior and standard medics. 

About The Role

At Washington you will be involved first hand are in assisting the collection team in  maintaining and developing exhibits within the site at Washington to enhance the visitor experience.

This involves helping the Collection team to care for our large collection of rare and endangered species of waterfowl from around the world as well as wetland mammals.

Conducting public talks with our otters and Flamingos is also an important part of the role. Helping the team to inspire our visitors by the work we do and also showing them how they can get involved.

Why volunteer with us? We have one of the largest waterfowl collections in the North East, with over 40 species, 15 of which are of Conservation Concern, including the current flock of 56 breeding Chilean Flamingos and a pair of Asian Short-clawed Otters. Previous volunteers have gone on to work in animal conservation work around the world. 

We are currently looking for volunteers that can help us on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays or Sundays. We ask that you can commit a minimum of 6 months to get the most from your role. You must be over 18 to apply for this role.

Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. You'll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and anything else you need.

2x Trustee – Land and Forestry 

Help shape a greener, healthier and more sustainable future. 

Our client is one of the UK’s most inspiring environmental initiatives—restoring and connecting woodland, championing sustainability, and improving lives across 200 square miles in the Midlands and beyond. With 9.5 million trees already planted and national recognition as a pioneering regeneration model, the Forest is growing fast—in scope, scale and influence. 

We are now looking for 2 new Trustees with expertise in forestry, land management, farming or nature conservation to help guide the charity’s work at a critical time for both the charity and wider national land-use policy. 

Moira, Derbyshire (Hybrid)

Unremunerated, with reasonable expenses paid 

The successful candidates will bring senior experience in one or more of the following areas: 

• Forestry and woodland creation 

• Sustainable land management or regenerative farming 

• Landscape-scale nature recovery 

• Land ownership or estates management 

• Environmental policy, regulation or practice 

One of the new Trustees will also Chair our Land and Forestry Working Group, providing strategic oversight of our work on land, woodland creation and resilience. We are looking for candidates who can support and challenge with a real commitment to our vision.

This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape a national exemplar for landscape regeneration and play a key role in the growth of a new family of national forests. 

The commitment 

• Approx. 1 day/month, including 5 Board meetings (4 in person) and 4 Land & Forestry Working Group meetings annually (in person / virtual). Trustees are not expected to live locally, provided they can attend in-person meetings. 

• A 3-year term, renewable for a further 3 years.

This is a pivotal time for the our client. The government has backed the creation of three new national forests following our success. As we lead this next chapter—expanding woodland cover, inspiring new partnerships, and delivering lasting environmental change—we need strong governance and visionary trustees to support our journey.

As a Membership and Retail Volunteer you will actively engage with our visitors and encourage them to support WWT as members. Enthusing them with stories of our conservation work and the many benefits of membership, you’ll help us secure the essential support we need to continue our ambitious plans for wetlands conservation.

And if you have an eye for something special and can offer excellent customer service to every one of our visitors, even better. You will also be a support to our retail team and help keep up the great work in offering a wide range of items for them to take home. Experience is always welcomed but not essential as training for this and our membership processes will be provided.

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to deliver hands-on training, manage production processes, and support vulnerable communities. GreenLift Hope offers a supportive environment for learning, growth, and making a meaningful impact together.

Washington’s amazing inner grounds have a lot of infrastructure which requires regular maintenance. By volunteering your time with us you will be helping to ensure that Washington’s play area is maintained to the highest standard for our visitors, helping families make memories in our amazing wetlands.

What will you be doing?

• This role will be varied, and will involve a lot of daily maintenance/minor repair of the play area, including:
• Inspection of play area to identify work required and ensure it is in working order (training will be given in line with our Play Inspection system)
• Cleaning of play equipment and ground surfaces using brushes, mobile jetwash and environmentally safe detergents
• Raking and replenishment of woodchip and sand
• Weeding of play area
• Identifying and undertaking minor repairs of equipment and pathways within the play area
• Managing vegetation around the play area and its pathways

Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. You'll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and anything else you need. 

Who are we looking for?

• Someone who should be committed to good customer service and willing to engage our visitors with the work of WWT.
• Any volunteer should be able and willing to undertake a range of physical activities outside in all weathers.
• Previous experience with the use of hand tools would be an advantage, although not necessarily a necessity.
• Proactive and able to work with a minimum of supervision, under the direction of the grounds team.
• Must have excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.

At Better Place Bradford, our mission is to identify and oversee improvements to local parks and outdoor spaces with the aim of providing a healthier and happier environment for babies, young children and families. We work across larger parks, pocket parks, community centres, streets and green spaces across BD3, BD4 and BD5.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, passionate, and highly motivated individual, who is looking to gain some practical landscape maintenance experience.

As a Volunteer Urban Ranger, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining the upkeep of our sites, regularly checking that each site is safe, inviting, and free from rubbish — noting any issues that arise.

Duties include: Litter clearance, sweeping sand back into the sand pits, weeding, planting, watering plants, affixing signs, checking in on the Little Free Library boxes, strimming, raking leaves, supporting at event days, promoting responsible use and enjoyment of our sites.

This role is for you if you;

• Enjoy being outdoors (in all weather)
• Are not afraid of physical work
• Want to make a difference in your local area
• Are comfortable getting to sites across BD3/BD4/BD5
• Enjoy interacting with members of the public
• Want to gain practical landscape maintenance experience
• Are looking for an intro into the environmental / conservation / ranger sectors

**Volunteer Opportunity: Join Our Admin Team!**

Are you looking to gain valuable experience in an office environment? We are the UK's leading liver charity based in central Winchester, currently seeking local volunteer support to assist our admin team during busy periods - now!  We are open Mon-Fri 0900-1700 and welcome any few hours you may like to gift to us in this role.

- Support the team in fulfilling orders for various fundraising and information packs, including patient publication booklets.

- Help prepare items for mailing to individuals in need.

We are currently offering an exciting honorary placement opportunity for a trainee or newly qualified counsellors/psychotherapists working towards BACP registration or accreditation.

About the Role:

Survivor Service

Honorary therapists work within the Psychotherapy Service team to provide emotional and therapeutic support to young people and children with learning disabilities and autistic people who have experienced abuse or trauma. The post will entail jointly assessing and providing individual therapy and having weekly supervision with our therapists.

Requirements:

• Currently enrolled in (or recently completed) a Level 4 or above counselling/psychotherapy course

• Student member of the BACP, UKCP, HCPC (or equivalent professional body) and adhere to ethical framework of awarding professional body

• Minimum of 50 supervised client hours completed

• Commitment to ethical practice, confidentiality, and inclusivity We Offer:
