Job description

Style Acre is a vibrant charity supporting people with learning disabilities and autism across Oxfordshire. We have a number of social enterprises providing work experience and jobs for the people we support including; a tea room, charity shop and garden maintenance team. We are really keen to expand this portfolio and are looking for a dynamic individual with the right mix of business acumen and creativity, who embraces our values, to take our social enterprises to the next level and provide even more opportunities for the people we support.

The Social Enterprise Manager will be responsible for the management and growth of the social enterprises of Style Acre Trading, to ensure an ongoing source of revenue for the charity and provide work opportunities for people with learning disabilities. 

Current social enterprises are our Tea room, Charity shop, Book shop and Green Acres gardening services.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Responsibility for all aspects of the day to day management of the social enterprises, ensuring a safe and effective environment for staff, volunteers, customers and those on work placements.
  2. Ensure adherence to appropriate health and safety procedures, that all mandatory requirements are met and full compliance to Environmental Health registration. 
  3. Liaison with Day Opportunities management and Work Programme team to ensure the social enterprises support a positive environment for the people we support to participate in appropriate and stimulating work.
  4. In conjunction with the Fundraising and Marketing Manager to market and promote the social enterprises and take responsibility for managing and/or hosting seasonal and other events at the social enterprises.
  5. Maintain Style Acre’s position in the local community and deliver excellent quality and customer service.

Growth

  1. To work proactively with the Operations Manager and Chief Executive to develop strategies and identify new opportunities for the future growth of our Social Enterprise portfolio.
  2. To be responsible for the setting up of new Social Enterprises when opportunities have been agreed.

Staff and Volunteer Management

  1. Line Management and Supervision of the local social enterprise managers. 
  2. Maintain oversight of the weekly staffing and volunteer rotas, in liaison with the local managers to ensure sufficient staff and volunteers are available to cover the opening requirements.
  3. To undertake any other duties of a similar nature and level of responsibility which may be required by your employer.

Finance

  1. To ensure all monies are handled in accordance with the Charities policies and procedures, due diligence and are accounted for and safely managed developing further controls as required.
  2. Monitor, review and manage the turnover and operating result of the social enterprises to ensure targets are achieved and exceed expectations.
  3. Work with the Operations Manager and Finance team to review performance and prepare annual Budgets and Forecasts

Training and Development:

Style Acre is committed to providing the training, development and support necessary to ensure all employees understand and achieve the responsibilities of their role and fulfil their personal and professional potential.  Mandatory and statutory training is inclusive of this programme.  In addition, dependent on the specific service needs and requirements, specialised training will be scheduled into an employee’s individual development programme.
